About Karen Chapman, Broker UR Home Realty

The owner's of this property live in Northern California. They visit Black-Eyed Susan's Cottage about 3 times a year and generally stay 2 to 4 weeks.

Karen Chapman, Broker UR Home Realty purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Karen Chapman, Broker UR Home Realty chose Canyon Country & Northeast

They originally purchased the property when their daughter was attending Northern Arizona University. But, because they love the Flagstaff area so much, kept it after her graduation.

What makes this cabin unique

The hardwood floors throughout add to the cozy atmosphere of the cabin. The front entryway acts as a solar room on chilly winter mornings. That coupled with the woodstove make it cozy all year long. Brilliant stars in the night sky and uninterrupted views of the forest make this a special place.

We rented this cottage for 3 nights on New Years weekend. This was my family's time to celebrate Christmas as well. The place was great but I was very unhappy with the fact that the wood burning stove/fireplace did not work and we were unable to use it! I would have really appreciated being told this beforehand and then I could have planned accordingly! Honestly... if I had known ahead of time, I would have gone somewhere else that had a fireplace. That's the whole fun of going up north to play in the snow is being able to come inside and get warm by the fireplace!

It was an ok stay

  • 3 of 5

The place is well equipped with all the necessary things . It was also quite clean .

Some things we would have liked : more water pressure in the showers ( switches to cold water suddenly and sometimes just slows to a drizzle ) , more counter space in the kitchen . There is also not much cell phone coverage in the house and no wifi . So that did prove a bit of a challenge for planning .

Beautiful and serene location with great views

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for 3 days. This cabin had everything we needed and was nice to come home to after wearing ourselves out at the Grand Canyon and in Flagstaff. Cell phone coverage was spotty, but that was only stressful for my 14-year old. My connection was fine and I just made my phone a hot spot for everyone else which worked out great. The landscape was very pretty and we enjoyed our time sitting outside and taking it in. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location for the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 traveled with another family of 5 to visit the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas. The location was perfect for what we wanted, about an hour drive to the Grand Canyon, less than an hour from the very scenic highway 89A drive to Sedona and the Slide Rock State Park, and about 20 minutes to Williams, AZ, a nice Route 66 town we walked around one afternoon. The house comfortably slept our 10 people (2 couples and kids ranging from 5 years old to adult age), and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The kitchen was stocked well with dishes and cookware we needed. The property was in a quiet, secluded neighborhood, with enough room for the kids to run around and play outside, and we regularly saw elk as well. The owner was very responsive when we had a few questions during our stay, and we received our deposit back in a very short amount of time.
