Location-location! The highly desirable, security gated Palm Villas community is in a fantastic location within the Mauna Lani Bay Resort. There are only 44 units in this boutique, low density community. It is a short walk to the award winning Mauna Lani Bay Hotel, Fairmont Orchid Hotel, Shops at Mauna Lani and beautiful Big Island beaches.
Have no concerns about renting. As the original owners, we operate with the highest integrity standards. We work diligently to keep our condo an A+ property. We do not have a third party manage our rentals. You deal directly with the owner when you book your stay.
The condo is supervised on-island by a reliable and dedicated luxury home property manager, and separately, cleaned by an energetic, detailed and top notch housekeeping staff.
We regularly professionally clean the carpets and couches, steam the tile floors and mattresses. The AC unit is regularly serviced and filters changed to provide the cleanest interior air. In addition to the service provided by the condo association, we utilize the services of a pest control company to keep the various Hawaiian crawlies out of our condo.
The master bedroom has a California King bed, the second bedroom has two twin beds and the third bedroom a queen sized bed.
Each bedroom has Hunter Douglas tropical decor blinds and 3M solar window film to help manage the bright Hawaiian sun.
We provide L’Occitane soaps for the bath. The bed linens are of the highest quality. As our guest you will enjoy lush Neiman Marcus Turkish cotton bath towels.
All bedroom closets and the pantry are designed and built by California Closets.
As the original owners and seasoned former urban dwellers, during the construction of the unit we paid an additional amount for the builder to install soundproofing between the floors and in the wall of the adjoining unit. This is a quiet unit as a result of our foresight.
At the time of purchase, we had our choice of location within the community. We remain pleased with our selection. The walk to the pool, and gym is just one of seconds, yet the condo location is not in these immediate areas. This end unit offers our guests tropical foliage views and a private, tranquil vacation.
Guests can prepare meals in a fully equipped kitchen. We provide many spices and seasonings. Kitchen appliances include: All Clad cookware, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, Cuisinart mini prep, Krups waffle maker, toaster oven, hand mixer and blender.
Purchase some local fish (or catch it yourself--the Big Island has world famous sport fishing) or Big Island raised beef and watch the colorful sunset while you cook out on the built in Thermador grill. Enjoy your dinner on the beautifully tiled lanai.
Pack lighter and escape expensive airline baggage fees. The condo has a full size washer and dryer. We provide laundry detergents.
We provide high speed internet access. A fax machine/printer are available for your use if you need to make contact with home or the office.
Our condo telephone service provides unlimited calling to the US mainland, Canada, Puerto Rico and within the Hawaiian Islands. Cell phone coverage on the island is generally very good.
The family room television displays in High Definition. This television also has a DVR for recording or pausing and a DVD player. The master bedroom also has a television and a DVD player.
This coveted ground floor, end unit location is ideal for children. The unit is surrounded on three sides by lush grass and ideal for play.
For no additional expense, if needed for young children, we provide our guests with a high chair, Graco Pack and Play (with sheet) and exersaucer. We have many indoor and outdoor toys for children, including Razor scooters and a four wheeled kick scooter. We also have helmets for the children.
For guest enjoyment, the Palm Villas community offers a resort-style lava pool and hot tub with a pleasant trickling waterfall. Next to the pool is the Palm Villas community gym (with tv).
Condo guests are closer to the upscale Shops at Mauna Lani then hotel guests. Brew your own morning coffee or take a short walk to the Shops or the hotel for a cup of Kona gold.
Only one minute before your massage appointment? No problem. This is the closest condo in the resort to the fabulous Mauna Lani Spa and Sports Club.
Enjoy the same access and pricing as hotel guests at the two championship Mauna Lani golf courses.
Additionally, guests receive full privileges and a parking key card for the private and remodeled Mauna Lani Beach Club at Makaiwa Bay. The Beach Club has a fantastic restaurant for daytime or evening dining. We have a large and sunny yellow Frontgate brand beach umbrella for your use should you want it for the beach. We also provide beach towels.
If walking from the condo to the Beach Club is preferred, follow the path that begins just outside the security gate for a short walk through the historical petroglyph preserve and past the sacred ponds. Makaiwa Bay is a great swimming spot for families with children and has some of the best snorkeling on the island.

We had our choice of several properties within the Mauna Lani resort. We are very pleased with our purchase within the Palm Villas. We like the low density and security gate. Many areas along the Kohala Coast can be windy (We have found Waikoloa to be very windy). For the most part, the Palm Villas do not experience the wind. We also have a professionally managed and active homeowners association. We enjoy being owners in the Palm Villas.
We arrived yesterday and the condo is absolutely perfect. You have amazing taste if I do say so myself! Everything is exactly what I would choose if I had my own place here. I told my husband maybe we should buy our own condo and he said "why when we can rent this place?!"

On a random note, do you know where you got the great super light cotton blankets on the larger beds? I was guessing Eileen Fischer but couldn't find a tag. They are so perfect!
We recently took our 5th trip to the Big Island with our now family of 5 (kids aged 3, 7 and 9). This was our 3rd stay in the Palm Villas and our first in this particular unit. I would have to say this was our best stay yet. The condo was exactly as described and pictured - in fact even better. We had an idea from the description that this unit was child friendly, but when we arrived we found it had literally everything you could think of needing when traveling with young children. Our 3 year old is in between sleeping in a crib and a bed and I was pleasantly surprised to even find a toddler bed rail in one of the bedroom closets that we could use for her! All 3 of our kids loved riding the scooters - they were so excited there was one for each of them AND the helmets as well. I can't say enough about how well this unit is appointed for adults and children as well. That being said, the furnishings and decor were very classy and all the "kid gear" was stored away in closets so this unit would be perfect for an adult only trip as well.
In addition to how wonderful the unit itself was, I have to say what a pleasure it was to work with Christine. When our middle daughter became ill a few days before our original trip date and was not well enough to travel the morning of our planned departure, Christine was very quick to respond to my request to change the dates of our trip. Not only did she bump our stay back by a week to our new requested dates, there was no additional cost or fees to do so, even being so last minute. She also allowed us a late check out on our final day since our flight home didn't depart until 9pm. I can't tell you how much of a relief it was to work with someone who understands what it is like to travel with children and was as accommodating as she was. I would absolutely rent this condo again and will definitely recommend it to friends and family traveling to the Big Island.
We first contacted the owner, "Christine" by e-mail and arranged a month stay at her hawaii condo. She was honest and delightful to deal with right from the start. We arrived at Palm Villas late at night. Midnight to be exact. The lights were on for us, and everything was in absolutely perfect condition!! The property manager "Robin" had gone out of her way to put some breakfast supplies, coffee, pineapple, eggs, milk etc, in the fridge for our first morning! It was too late for us to shop, so that was a wonderful and appreciated effort.
When we walked in to the condo it was spotless! Everything you could ask for was there, and all in good working order. The kitchen appliances all worked perfectly, they were quite new, and VERY clean. The linen was clean, the furniture was clean, All the little things were in place as well. The carport was a bonus, and it was full of supplies like snorkel gear for almost all ages, boogie boards, cooler for the beach, chairs for the beach etc.
Nothing was forgotten, and just an overwhelming surprise compared to most places we've rented in hawaii. As one writer puts it, "the pictures don't do it justice", and its true!

My husband and I have visited Hawaii maybe twenty times - I've lost count - and this condo definitely rates at the top. It is very well decorated and furnished. We cooked almost every night and I didn't find anything lacking in the kitchen. I really appreciated the rice cooker. We bought some really nice fish at the nearby Foodland Market to grill. Christine left salt and pepper, oil, and some seasonings in the pantry. That is very nice. You wouldn't believe the number of condos that don't even have salt!
The view in the back isn't as bleak as the pictures might depict. There were a variety of birds living there. There were some partridge type birds that make really odd calls and some bright solid yellow finches called saffron finches. We had a full moon setting out there.
We mostly relaxed, but spent one night in Hilo to visit the volcanoes. It made a much less hectic trip since it's about two and a half hours to Hilo and we got to the volcanoes before the busses. Don't miss the art gallery at the visitor center.
We didn't eat out much, but there are a lot of wonderful restaurant s in the area. We had two wonderful lunches at Merriman s in Waimea. We had a nice lunch at the lodge on Kilauea volcano. Shopping for groceries is much easier in Waimea and The Kings Shopping center. We went to Safeway in Kona, but that was a hassle with traffic and distance. There's a Longs Pharmacy in Waimea.
We definitely would rent this house again, and probably will. Christine, the owner, is very nice, and Robin, the property manager is very nice, efficient, and accommodating.
We stayed in Christine's incredible condo Thanksgiving week - the pictures do not provide this accommodation justice! Beautifully furnished in "Island" theme, very comfortable, great kitchen setup and family great room. Ground level unit with outdoor lanai/bbq area. Unit is wonderfully located and the Mauna Lani beach club access was so great, especially for our 5 year old granddaughter (loved the toys, and used the razor on path to beach) Beds were wonderful and the linens superb. Everything in this unit was "first class" without being ostentatious. The garage is directly outside the unit well stocked with boogie boards, an ice chest, beach umbrella, extra gas canister for the BBQ. We could not have been more pleased with this amazing condo!
I've been to the Big Island a dozen times and stayed in different luxury and regular condos. This was THE BEST experience we've ever had and we will make it our new home away from home!! Christine's unit is by far the most comfortable, well-appointed, nicely decorated Island condominium Home to rent in this price range. I stayed for 9 nights in October with my two sisters for our annual "girls trip" and could not have been more delighted!! EVERYTHING was quality from the super soft sheets and towels to the cookware in the kitchen. The garage had everything we needed for fun at the beach- an umbrella, chairs, boogie boards, ice-chests...and if you come with Kids WHOA!!!! there is so much great stuff for fun with kids of all ages! The unit is super quiet. It is very close to the pool which is really large and so nice. We even used the outdoor BBQ facilities one night! There is a binder in the condo where she has compiled information on all the local attractions and restaurant recommendations in case you are a new visitor to the Big Island. Christine and her condo really reflect the spirit of Aloha which you will experience throughout your visit to the Big Island. It is such a special place. I recommend the app "Big Island Revealed" for even more information on local attractions!
My wife, 2 kids (ages 3 and 1), mother-in-law, and I had a fantastic stay at Christine's condo in Mauna Lani in April 2013. The condo was well-located and incredibly well setup for a family with kids. My 3 year old son spent almost every waking moment at the nearby beach or in the complex's pool and the condo has all of the beach toys, chairs, towels, etc., that you could need or want.
