On a ridgetop at 3600 feet elevation, Misty Laurel Chalet has a beautiful view of Lake Nantahala (which is at 3000' elevation) and the Smoky Mountains beyond. Imagine awakening to a gorgeous view of the lake and then taking a brisk walk thru a lovely forest with crisp, clean air. In fact, Robert Redford recently filmed 'A Walk in the Woods' nearby, at Wayah Bald, based upon the book of the same name by Bill Bryson (now showing at theaters across the country). The film's aerial videos were shot by the same video crew who did the videography for our Visit Misty Laurel YouTube video!
Misty Laurel is spacious - 2400 square feet - with two living areas, both equipped with flat screen TVs, DirecTV HD satellite receivers & DVD players, in addition to three bedrooms, so the kids can entertain themselves downstairs while the adults enjoy themselves upstairs. There's also an extra dining table, full-size refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker downstairs, so that increases the privacy options. Take a look at the floorplan illustrations below.

For many of our previous guests, these excursions have been among the most memorable highlights of their visits to Misty Laurel. Lake Nantahala is spectacular and there's no better way to see it than from a boat. As well as being an excellent guide, Dale is a life-long Nantahala resident and will regale you with his tales as a park ranger and tracker! He was featured in the recent book "Bear in the Back Seat" about the career of a Smoky Mtn. Natl. Park ranger and wildlife expert. Dakota is the only local fishing guide who can offer a licensed and insured float fishing trip on the famous trout haven, the Nantahala River!

We love to get away from the heat and humidity of Florida (Tallahassee) and Misty Laurel Chalet at Lake Nantahala is a great place to cool off and have fun!
While it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, we still need to be able to keep in touch. DSL internet access provides for this need, so we can still fulfill our obligations as consultants, etc.
I justed wanted to let you know what a fabulous time Mike and I had staying at the Misty Laurel Chalet. The scenery was breath-taking and waking up in the mornings was like being in the clouds. The facilties we great as well. Once we got there, we felt like just staying and not even taking in the sights - although we did - and it was great to find out there were so many activities just around the corner of the mountain (kayaking, horseback riding, fishing and boating!). Thank you so much for telling us about the Chalet. We look forward to using it again!! It was a very relaxing and memorable stay!
My family had a wonderful six days at this beautiful cabin 3600 feet up on the mountain overlooking Lake
Nantahala!! The cabin is decorated in a warm and inviting fashion. Everything is perfectly clean and orderly. The kitchen had everything you need. Just a lovely place to stay. The views off the deck are amazing. We went white water rafting on the Nantahala River and gem mining and we visited the Smoky Mountains several times. We walked up Clingman's Dome and visited the Little Greenbrier School. On the way home we visited the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. We visited Cherokee, North Carolina and the Museum of the Cherokee Indians. There were many, many other things to do that we didn't get to. We had an absolutely wonderful time and the cabin and its owners, Pat and Jo, were tremendously helpful and kind! Highly recommend this cabin for anyone with a family or anyone wanting a peaceful, tranquil and cozy place to stay.
Had a mini-family reunion and found Misty Laurel to be spacious, peaceful, comfortable, and inviting in every way. Lots to do for the young and the older! We enjoyed biking, hiking, horseback riding, the boat/tube rental at the lake, etc. We made good use of the fully equipped kitchen (and discovered some hidden culinary talents among the young!). We had so much fun and plan to visit again and again!
Stayed at Misty Laurel for a week with the family. The cabin is absolutely beautiful, well-equipped and had lots and lots of room. The location was fantastic in that there is so many activities close by - one of the best mountain bike trails (Tsali) is not far at all, and the cabin was a welcomed comfort after a nice and hard ride. The boat rental that was included on Lake Nantahala was so much fun! I can't wait to go back!!
My husband and I arrived late at night. We were immediately impressed with the beautiful cabin, the fireplace, the size, etc. When we woke in the morning we were absolutely stunned. Little did we know that we had the most amazing view. We woke to a glistening crystal blue lake and a beautiful mountain range visiable from the bedroom window and of course the big picture windows. The wrap around deck was just perfect and we could have spent the entire vacation just enjoying the view, but we managed to tear ourselves away to enjoy some of the many activities the area has to offer. We canoed, hiked fished and did lots of sightseeing. . We only had a few days and next time hope to white water raft. As an airline employee, my husband my husband and I have access to just about anywhere a plane flies, but this was by far one of our favorite spots in the world. We look forward to our next visit. The owner, Pat, could not have been more helpful and was available round the clock. He is very organized has a great notebook full directions and suggestions which served to make navigating the area a breeze.. We highly recommend this cabin. You will not be dissapointed, I only wish there were more than five stars, as this little slice of heaven deserves ten.
Thanks For all, and hope to visit Misty Laurel again.

We stayed at Misty Laurel in mid September and it was absolutely gorgeous. The Chalet was just as pictured and described and with Pat's directions we drove right to it without any problem. Pat was very gracious to check in with us on arrival day to be sure we had made it and to see if we had any questions. We enjoyed pontooning on the Lake Nantahala and rafting at the NOC. We also enjoyed strolling the are around the Chalet with our two dogs and I will say I don't believe I have ever been anywhere more tranquil. Just perfect. We hope to be back next year.
This was a fabulous cabin! The owners were extremely wonderful and the cabin was just gorgeous! The view of the lake, the Nantahala mountains, and the Smoky Mountains National Park was breath-taking. We had dinner at the Lake's-End Cafe, rented a boat from the Lake's-End Marina, went white-water rafting at the NOC, and horse-back riding at the Smokemont Riding Stables. Everyone was accommodating and gracious. There was still so much more to do, but we ran out of time. We hope to come back again!
