Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)
About Kathy Styles
We wanted a close-by retreat from our North San Diego County Home--someplace we could enjoy ourselves, plus share with others.
Kathy Styles purchased this Cabin in 2003
Why Kathy Styles chose Fern Valley
We searched for mountain horse property for a long time--it's rare in Idyllwild. The size of the lot, plus the fabulous creek setting was irresistable!
What makes this Cabin unique
White Horse Cabin has that location, location, location wow factor. The woods, the water, the classic A-frame cabin. After a few quiet moments on that deck overlooking the water, picturing our horses content in the big shaded paddock out front--we were hooked.

Fantastic stay, great ambiance!
My partner and I loved staying at the White Horse Cabin. We had to arrive on Friday night after 10pm, but Kathy had the place warmly ready. And all weekend, we soaked up the cabin's creekside charm. From the expansive deck under the trees to cooking in the kitchen to enjoying the fireplace, it was truly memorable. It was part of my birthday week celebrations and couldn't have been better. Thanks! If you want a cozy, charming, nostalgic and perfectly welcoming place to stay, I recommend it!
My husband and I have stayed in Idyllwild twice a year for over 20 years and this might be the most beautiful piece of property we've booked. It is located right on Strawberry Creek. It has a very large yard surrounding the cabin and a great deck looking out over the creek. Absolutely stunning!
The cabin itself is your typical A-frame but with a massive fireplace, super comfortable bed (very soft sheets) and access to the deck from the bedroom - perfect for my morning tea and meditation. It was snowing every day but that didn't stop me from going out there straight from bed and taking it all in. It just beckons you!
We cook all of our meals and the kitchen worked well for that. The stove is electric and rather dated, but that added to the charm. The bar/counter was a perfect spot for me, the sous chef, to sit and watch my husband cook.
We only left to get firewood and ingredients we forgot from home. That is saying something about this property because Idyllwild has great restaurants and hiking and sledding - and we preferred to stay in.
Great, great stay!
Thanks for the kind words, Nancy. You guys went above and beyond during your stay, what with that crazy weather and the skylight issue. Thanks for taking such good care of our much-loved home. So glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to accommodate you in the future.
Had a great time on a brief getaway with my wife. Nice property and Idyllwild is vey cool to visit.
Lovely setting, quaint cabin
The cabin is charming but the heating system is baroque, with contradictory instructions. The bedroom overheats at night. The loft beds are quite hard so if you like memory foam or soft mattresses this will be a struggle which can be forgiven due to the beauty of the mountains and a short stay.
Apologies for the "baroque-ness" of a normal forced-air heating system; the mini-split in the loft is great for air conditioning, but just not warm as it is a heat pump system, like all mini-splits. Regarding bedroom being too hot, that's why we recommend turning the main furnace off at night and using the living room wall heaters on a low setting. Thanks for the feedback,
The cabin went beyond our expectations!
Loved the cozy cabin will everything we needed for our holiday stay.
