E Komo Mai! Please come and enjoy our beautifully remodeled 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo at the Ilikai--where Waikiki begins!
The Ilikai is a unique landmark of Waikiki, originally featured at the beginning of the original “Hawaii Five-O” TV series. The current 'Hawaii Five-O' series has also filmed on location. The building is within walking distance to the restaurants, shops and beach of Waikiki strip, the Ala Moana Shopping mall (which has a Food Land grocery store), Ala Moana Beach Park and the Hawaii Convention Center. Every Friday night, free fireworks light up the Ilikai, compliments of the Hawaiian Hilton Village next-door. Our end unit is on a coveted upper floor featuring two lanais with breathtaking views of Waikiki, surrounding mountains and a partial ocean view.
Our privately owned 1200+ square foot unit was remodeled in October 2007 and has contemporary furnishings with a tropical flair. The kitchen has granite countertops and is fully supplied with microwave, glass-top stainless steel range, refrigerator, full set of non-stick cookware, coffeemaker, rice cooker, blender, toaster, dishware and utensils.
Each bedroom has a queen bed with luxurious memory foam topper. The master bath has a pedestal sink with travertine tiled shower over tub. The guest bath includes a comfortable travertine tiled shower. Bath linens are included for your stay. The living room also has a queen sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress, totaling the sleeping arrangements for up to 6 guests.
There is a smart TV with cable and DVD player in the living room (Netflix streaming for those of you with Netflix accounts, Viki App for Korean dramas, You Tube, web browser!) TV with cable is also available in the master bedroom. FREE WIFI!
The living room and bedrooms have separate remote-controlled air-conditioning units to make your stay comfortable.
We also provide family oriented Oahu/Hawaii guidebooks for use during your stay and a journal filled with our personal favorites and tips.
Each floor of the Ilikai has shared, coin operated washers and dryers. A shared swimming pool is available at the lobby level. (Unfortunately, the hotel fitness center is not available to the private condo owners or our guests.)
The Ilikai Hotel portion provides bell and valet parking service. Currently, valet parking at the hotel is $28/day. The Ilikai Marina also provides parking at a discounted rate ($20/day with in and out priviledges). Limited free parking is available at a first come/first serve basis at the marina right behind the Ilikai building during the day. There is a Hertz car rental is available next door at the Hilton. If you do not rent a car during your stay, Oahu has a very well integrated public transportation system with stops immediately at the front door of the Ilikai.

The condo is beautifully designed and situated in such a convenient central location in Waikiki! Most of the popular sites are either walking distance or easily accessible by bus. The owner has thought of nearly every amenity to make a visitor's stay as comfortable as possible. The kitchen is well designed for functional use and the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, plus pull out sofa bed set up makes it a great rental for medium size families. The pullout bed is surprisingly substantially more comfortable than most even though it squeeks a bit. The adjustable AC is available in every room which is a godsend after a long day in the sun and they are all equipped with strong fans. There are coin operated shared laundry rooms located just down the hall which is convenient for light packers. The television is Internet ready with Netflix, Amazon, etc... and there are multiple electrical outlets easily accessible in every room. Between the counter, the dining table, the coffee table and the balcony seating, there is plenty of space to relax and eat or lounge. The balconies offer both a beautiful city view and partial oceanview with an overview of Hilton Hawaiian Village's performance stage for free entertainment and the upper floor provides a fantastic natural breeze for a breath of fresh evening air. The furniture is very tasteful, the cushions are very plush and there are plenty of bed pillows in just about every firmness. The entire unit is very clean and kept in good order. A lovely personal touch is a guest journal where guests can write about their experience including feedback or recommended places to eat or sights to see. The owner has provided plenty of suggestions for out of towners to check out the local area and I loved all of the recommendations. With hotel like accommodations in a place designed with a personal and homey touch, this condo has won my family over on every single level. I'm so glad I lucked out by finding this place and not only will I come back here on a returning trip, I'd highly recommend this unit to any and all of my friends and family also looking to visit Waikiki.
The unit itself was great and suited our family of 6 very well. Great location for shops, beach, transport, etc. It was well situated to go to and from the beach / pool several times a day which we did. Our 3 kids enjoyed the condo and there was enough room for everyone to fit comfortably. The pool was big enough and nice to relax in and around at any time of day.
Unfortunately, we got off to the worst possible start with our check in handled deplorably - the worst service I have come across in 20 years. After a 9 hour flight we arrived in the morning hot and tired and ready to check in to freshen up before heading to the beach. Our party included a 70 year old grandmother. I met the Manager's Executive Assistant at her desk (just outside the Managers office) in the Marina Hawaii Vacations office on the lobby level at Ilikai. She didn't greet me, just asked for ID and then refused to take my card for payment as she didn't understand how it worked and gave me a rubbish story about it being OK to pay with if we were staying a month not a fortnight. I'm a CEO of a credit union and explained to her how it worked and that clearance time is not an issue. She ignored that and told me I'd have to go to the bank and get cash out as they also wouldn't take American Express. She then said she wouldn't let my family upstairs while I went to the bank, despite the fact we had paid 2 nights deposit and flown 9 hours from Australia, so they had to sit out in the corridor in the heat including 3 kids and a grandmother while I went to the bank. She compounded the problem by giving false directions to the bank which ended up being 4 blocks away from where she directed me. After going to the bank to try and sort the cash payment out as Ilikai requires 100% payment before you stay, I got back to Ilikai and demanded to see her Manager, a fellow named Kevin. To his credit Kevin apologised profusely for the appalling service. He took ownership of the problem and even gave us a discount on our stay. To the owner of the condo thank you for the use of your wonderful facility. To Kevin, thank you for your efforts in repairing the disastrous service of your Executive Assistant. I would highly recommend she be placed somewhere where customers don't interact with her, if you haven't fired her already. I recommend staying here, but be careful who you check in with. The other ladies in the MHV office were terrific.
The unit was nice and open with lots of windows. The balconys were not really usable, could have done with some nice chairs and a table for enjoying the outside. The hotel does not like the condo renters, they were extremely unhelpful. Very few lounge chairs available anywhere. A few around the pool with only four umbrellas for shade and always taken. Bit of a walk to the beach and had to lug your chairs, etc. No beach towels in unit and the pool towels were not allowed to be taken out of the pool area so needed to buy beach towels. It would have been helpful if the owners had put some information in the unit, cheap and good places to eat, where to buy groceries, etc. We ended up spending time on a balcony of my brother's unit which was equipped with lounge chairs and a table.
I felt there was only one negative to this unit and some people will actually find it a positive - the curtains in the bedrooms are not block out. For me, because I do work night shift, my bedroom is usually a bat cave - very dark. So I find it a bit harder to be able to sleep when there is light. Then again, you are in Hawaii, who wants to sleep, right?
There was some street noise because this unit - though it is on level 19 - does look out over Ala Moana Boulevard. However for me this was not noisy enough to be considered a negative. The one thing I did notice most noise wise was theBus - when it stops it makes a beeping noise. From our bedroom lanai we did have a view over the Hilton Hawaiian Village lagoon and we could see the ocean too.
There was also some noise when the Hilton were holding their Luau, however this was such a great thing not a bad thing, we usually went out onto the balcony and enjoyed it. If you want a totally silent dark bat cave to sleep in, this is not the right unit for you.
We honestly loved everything else about this unit including the amount of light that comes in during the day. The decor is very neutral and isn't going to disturb anyone, which is great when you are on holiday.
I loved that there were large plastic tumblers provided. There were also glass options if you did want to go that way - the best of both worlds. The cupboards were full of useful kitchen items.
There were plenty of coat hangers in the cupboards, lots of drawer space, a lovely little desk for your laptop, some beautiful art on the walls, there was even a night light in the ensuite. Towels and linen were provided and were excellent. The memory foam topper was *awesome* and the beds extremely comfortable.
The unit had you covered 100% air-conditioning wise - there is a split system air-conditioner head unit in each bedroom *plus* a split system air-conditioner in the main living area.
We loved The Ilikai overall. The lobby is beautiful, there are plenty of places to sit and chill if you wanted to do that, there is a lovely chair outside where you can wait for your car to be returned to you by the valet, the lifts were responsive and generally fast, the location is spot on for we Aussies who shop, there are laundry facilities which we did make use of, the one negative is that the internal corridors are warm. The pool is heated to a perfect temperature.
We would stay here again - thank you to the unit owner, it was wonderful!
Great location. Traffic was a little loud at night but had air con in both bedrooms so kept that on and the doors closed. Unit had everything you need to cook your own food - having an oven was a plus. We fed 18 people one night and everyone had a place to sit! Hotel/Condos were very quiet and the saff were great. Loved watching the nightlife from the balcony at night, could only see the sea between the Hilton's towers but that was great for us. Would definately pick this unit again if we return to Oahu. If you do rent in the Ilikai look out for "offerings" on the ledge by the elevators. People leaving will put out really handy things that they don't want to pack home. It was a great place and a great unit. I would highly recommned it.
My husband and I reserved this rental because we were going to Waikiki with our two young children and my mother and wanted to have plenty of space to spread out. This condo really delivered. The living space was huge, the kitchen just right, and the bedrooms very nice. The location was good, a mile or so away from the crazy busy part of Waikiki, so while it was louder at night than we are used to in our suburban home it wasn't so loud that it kept us up at night.Valet parking was $26/night, totally worth it because of the in and out privileges. The pool wasn't awesome, but it didn't matter since we spent most of our time at the beach. We were disappointed to find out we didn't get access to the fitness center, but my husband made due by going outside on the boardwalk for runs in the morning before it got too hot. Overall we are so happy with our trip, and if we ever return to Waikiki we will definitely be staying here again.
