The Southern Zone of Costa Rica is known as the final frontier from “Frommer’s Travel guide. The Osa Peninsula is one of the most popular attractions in this region d/t its premier ecotourism destinations and home to the Corcovado National Park and totally worth the 5 hour car trip to hike in. However, any person wanting to go into the national park, needs a certified licensed guide and entrance permits. No one is allowed to enter Corcovado without a guide. You must get your permits several weeks prior to your vacation. Contact SURCOS TOURS or email.

You can check out: info@ for a cool experience to the Corcovado side of things.
Our remoteness and rough roads make it necessary to rent a 4 wheel drive. You can fly into Golfito via Sansa Airline and request your rental car drop off destination there or grab your rental in San Jose and venture the 7 hours by car….stopping at some pretty cool beach towns along the way. (make sure to ask for a GPS or have WAZE on your phone!) Also you will need to reserve your rental car about 6 months in advance, to ensure you get one!
The further south you go into the Southern Zone, you’ll notice that tourism is still a bit undeveloped in our local area, with no large resorts or high rise, (hence the ADVENTURE vacation), however we have a close knit community of people who can help you with your planned excursions, surf board rentals or ATV rentals.
We do recommend if this is your first time to the Southern Zone, you do your research.
Some helpful tips: Bring ankle high hiking boots, good water shoes, your own reusable water bottles or camel backs. A first aide kit (depending on what activities you will be doing, look up appropriate first aide kits on line and make your own) Deet or skin so soft bug repellent works best. Sun guard shirts and hats and of course SUNSCREEN, remember you are 8 degrees north of the equator 😊
