Newly gutted and remodeled, this charming, romantic cabin is a real home, filled with character and comfort. 360 degrees of exquisite views of the mountains, the Frying Pan River, and the majestic Seven Castles red rock cliffs. Relax in the English garden or on the expansive back deck with hot tub and stunning views. This is a unique alternative to traditional lodging, vacation rentals and/ or hotels in Aspen, Basalt, or Snowmass.
The retreat is located 5 miles from the quaint, downtown Basalt and 23 miles from Aspen and/or Snowmass! Driving time- only 10 minutes to downtown Basalt with excellent shopping and world-class restaurants- And only 30 minutes to Aspen's world-famous ski areas, shops, and amenities!
Whether you are seeking adventure or peace and quiet, the Roaring Fork Valley has it all.
This new, modern house near Basalt provided our family with the perfect getaway. We had our daily pick of two views: dramatic red rock cliffs and verdant, lush green mountains. Our favorite part of the morning was drinking our coffee with our picture perfect view. All of the casement windows easily opened for constant fresh air. The beds were very fluffy and comfortable and the whole house was tastefully decorated with lots of areas to lounge. The back porch had seating and dining areas and an easy to use hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped for all our cooking needs. Most of all, it was very quiet and peaceful, just the sound of the wind. We hiked in nearby Ruedi Reservoir and drove to Lyle and Morman Lakes as well. We were close to many wonderful hikes in Snowmass including Capital Creek Trail and Cathedral Lakes Trail. There are many options for dining in Basalt and their farmer's market is delicious and fun. You should go and rent this house!
Christina, the owner, was very attentive and responded to inquiries promptly. Her directions and house instructions (from driving directions to instructions on the washer and dryer) were very clear so we never really needed her help. The house is newly renovated and in great shape. For part of our 10 day stay we had our son, wife, and 5 & 7 year old sons. There is only one full bath which worked better than we expected (staggered waking and sleeping times helped a lot). There is a copious outdoor space on the back deck to enjoy the spectacular views down valley and up to the red rock formations ("castles'). The drive to and from Basalt along the Frying Pan is beautiful, and you don't mind the drive into town or to El Jebel for groceries. Christina also has done a nice job with the gardens in the front - very attractive and lots of flowering plants.
My family loved staying here during our week in June. Great location and very clean, overall appears to be new inside. My only suggestion would be to have a nice patio table on the back porch to enjoy dinner or lunch and enjoy the views. The owner Christina is very accommodating and helpful and responds quickly to any concerns. Highly recommended.
From the moment we inquired about Christine's stunning home, all of our expectations were exceeded! Christine was so kind, accomadating, friendly, and helpful. From the fully stocked kitchen, to the cozy bed and linens, to the warm hot tub, to the impeccably clean house, this place was such a treat! It was a perfect retreat away from the big city where we live and we appreciated the sounds/sights of nature and how quiet it was. It is conveniently located just minutes from the cute town of Basalt where there are some great restaurants and stores. We plan to return again someday.
My fiance and I chose this home based on some of the previous reviews. What we did not know was the home had been sold/remodeled recently so the reviews were not current. We started the trip scrambling some to get signed paperwork to the property manager. I don't know if we missed the paperwork or if it was not sent to us in a timely manner. It was not enjoyable trying to find a place to color scan documents and email them - Minor inconvenience
We arrived at the property and found it clean and inviting. One of the reasons we chose this property was the fireplace. When we tried it Saturday evening, it worked momentarily then quit. There were no directions on how the fireplace worked. The FP was out of gas and was fixed on Monday. Despite the fact there is a paid cleaning service, We discovered the dishwasher was inoperable. A breaker had to be replaced, Fixed on Tuesday. Tripped breakers also shut down the hot tub for a couple of days. Fixed by Tuesday. Smoke detector backup batteries decided to fail in the middle of the night so we had to remove batteries . These should be replaced on a regular schedule so this does not happen. Beautiful kitchen was woefully equipped. There was a coffee pot, and microwave. A few pots and pans that Goodwill would have rejected and a few utensils. Only towels in the home were bath towels, no hand towels for the bathrooms, no kitchen towels and no towels available for hot tub use. Have I mentioned the dog from next door that come over to bark? ALmost forgot... the pillow cases on the master bed fit about 2/3 of the pillow, and the fitted bottom sheet seemed too small for the mattress.
The Positive: Christina was very apologetic and tried to respond to our needs. On Wednesday she delivered pots/pans, a decent knife block with reasonable knives, a toaster oven, fire extinguisher, hand and bath towels, additional utensil's. I think she addressed most of our concerns and future renters will have a better equipped property.
Summary: having to wait several days to have concerns addressed detracted from our stay. We did enjoy the area and overall the property was nice. I would be willing to recommend this property now that some of the issues have been addressed. Hopefully Christina will take our advise and create a manual that explains the operation of heat/fireplace.
It was the best!!! Stunning veiws beautiful house. I took my boat to Ruedi reservoir for water skiing . Drove to Aspen several evenings for classical concerts and wonderful resturants. The whole trip couldn't have been better. Chistina was wonderful and very helpful. I give it a 5!!!! can't wait to go back
