About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4 on beds plus 1 on couch

My place is on a black sand beach with a beautiful front yard. You’ll love my place because of the fresh coconuts in the front yard, sound of the waves, and the fireflies at night.

Beachfront on Playa Negra. Newer construction with attention paid to details and amenities. This listing is for the downstairs 2 bedroom unit with a double bed for a couple in one bedroom and two separate twin beds in the other bedroom, and a couch suitable for sleeping one person in the living room.

This two-bedroom property can be rented in conjunction with an upstairs studio (VRBO 1068885) if you have more than 5 people. It is called Pedro's Place Studio and has a separate private entrance with its own bathroom and kitchen. Noise is not an issue.

The property is rustic, nothing fancy, but has everything you need for a comfortable fun stay. Swimming right out front.

There is a kitchen with all basic supplies for cooking.

There is one bathroom with a hot water shower. High speed WiFi Internet and phone

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Puerto Viejo was absolutely amazing! The house was just right for my father and I, it's pretty close to the town so we rode our bikes to enjoy great food and fun. Will be returning! Susana was a great help , and was always available to help. Nothing but great vibes, great people, and a amazing trip!

How lucky were we?!

  • 5 of 5

We had a hankering for Costa Rica, the beach and some waves. With very little research, I chose to take my family (with kids age 9 and 11) to Puerto Viego. Why? Cause it's far from the crowds of turistas. And the swimming is nice. So I opened up VRBO, logged on and searched beyond hope for a home on the beach. Lucked out with Pedro's. Right price and on the beach. Booked a week and then we'd wing it from there.

Well, we got there and were greated by host Susana and her adorable dog, Asia. This home is also adorable. And seriously right on the beach. A little lawn, a tad of jungle and bit of black sand and then the water. So very ideal. We loved, loved, loved it. So much that we stayed another week! And the dog, Asia, loved us too. So it was like a VRBO that came with the best dog. Asia body surfs, catches frisbies, eats left overs and crawls under the bed during thunderstorms. Oh! and she's a coconut retriever.

If you just need 2 rooms, a kitchen, a perfect hammocked porch and the beach, this place is it. Book it now. Did I mention a 2 minute stroll down the sand to the nearest bar? With delicious smoothies?

We absolutely loved Pedro's Place!

Denise and kids

The property manager lives close by and is very helpful - my kids were forever locking the keys in the house and she was always willing to come to our rescue - We loved the area and plan on going back next year - you must visit The Point which is very close and food is fantastic - Banana Azul is also only a short walk and a great place to have a drink and relax. Cant wait to go back.

TOTAL RELAXATION

  • 5 of 5

More than we expected on our get away from the stress of everyday living. We wanted to escape the traffic and congestion and we did. We wanted casual attire and we enjoyed walking on the beach in our "jammies' with a cup of gooood coffee and freshly picked fruit. I painted and wrote while he did nothing but stare at the ocean from the upper deck. We just smiled at each other, nodded our heads in agreement that this was what we both needed desperately. Quiet time. Stillness. Warm sunshine. Many long walks taking in the unusual friendliness and smiles from occasional passer-bys. The slow movement of the sloths taught me a few lessons. Relax. Slow down. Enjoy.

Mid August 2011 vacation

  • 4 of 5

We spent 8 days at Pedro's place. Susanna, the property manager, was great! She and her husband were very responsive to questions and helped us with selection of outfitters. The setting can't be beat. Being from Austin Texas, it was a little warm and AC would have been a nice amenity. To Peter, the owner, I would suggest having the toilets replaced, as we had to do a little maintenance with their use. We were handy so didn't mind. The property manager made up for any issues we came across. We rented the upstairs and downstairs and had plenty of room for our party of 4. Daily we walked to Banana Azul (a 12 minute walk down the beach), to have libations and the owner kindly let us use their pool and all amenities! The people are kind to tourist and to one another. One of my favorite things about Pedro's place was "Blackie"-the neighborhood dog. He stayed with us while we were there and was a great watch dog-gave us another level of comfort and made us feel at home, as we sure missed our dogs. Blackie, the Lab, helped my separation anxiety. :~)

Owner's Response: Glad you had such a great time Debbie! We are examining the toilets and do keep a handyman on-call at all times to address any issues.

Pura Vida!

We couldn't have asked for a better place to land in Puerto Viejo! The location was perfect and Pedro's Place is an amazing deal for the amenities it has (high speed internet, full kitchen, hammocks, boogie boards, gorgeous garden and view). We stayed upstairs which is perfect for a couple. If you are looking for comfort, great location, and an affordable spot down the beach from town you will be hard pressed to find something better than this!

We will definitely be back!
