Seahorse Cottage 2 proves it’s possible to enjoy beachfront accommodations without spending a fortune. And when we say beachfront, we mean it. The 2-bedroom bungalow, which sleeps up to 6 people, sits on the dunes of Treasure Island Beach. Sugary white sand surrounds the walkway to the front door; the Gulf of Mexico is just steps beyond.
The only thing between you and beach is the outdoor area the cottage shares with a few neighboring cabins. Here you’ll find grills where you can barbecue redfish you reel in while surf-fishing or on a charter—or steaks from the supermarket across the street. Not only can you cook outdoors, but you can also dine amid the salt-fresh sea breezes on picnic tables located under a roof for some welcome shade. In the evening, after oohing and ahhing at the spectacular sunset, gather around the crackling glow of the fire pit. And any time is a good one to stretch out on one of the common area’s chaises with a book and a beverage.
Built in 1938, Seahorse Cottage 2 retains much of its old-fashioned charm, with wood-planked walls and ceilings. It offers plenty of modern conveniences, however, including free WiFi and cable TV. The kitchen is equipped with both major and minor appliances as well as pots, pans, and tableware. Even if you eat your main meals at the numerous nearby restaurants—there are so many within walking distance!—you’ll love being able to brew coffee first thing in the morning and mix a batch of margaritas to sip outside beneath the canopy of stars.
Seahorse Cottage 2 has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and the other with a full. The living room’s sofa can convert into an additional bed for 2. We’ll provide all the bedding and bathroom towels you’ll need, and of course the beds will be made up by the time you arrive. You won’t have to load up your suitcase with linens from home, and you can make a nap or a shower your first order of business.
Chances are, though, you’ll want to make a beeline to the beach and the gulf as soon as you arrive. After all, it’s right there in front of you! Swim, bodysurf, paddleboard, parasail, canoe, kayak, race jet skis, collect seashells, or simply stretch out on a blanket and watch for dolphins playing in the surf: You can do it all, any time you want. Others may have to load up their car with a day’s worth of gear and contend with traffic before they can have fun in the sun. You simply have to step outside!
While pristine, tranquil Treasure Island Beach is the main attraction of staying at Seahorse Cottage 2, it’s not the only one. Also, within walking distance is Treasure Bay Golf & Tennis, with a 9-hole golf course, clay and asphalt tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, and more. John’s Pass Village & Boardwalk, a popular gathering spot for dining, shopping, and boarding boat tours and fishing charters, is only 2 miles away. And you can drive to the Dalí Museum, Tropicana Field, the Chihuly Exhibit, the Sunken Gardens, and other St. Petersburg attractions in less than a half-hour.
When you stay at Seahorse Cottage 2, you can take advantage of everything the St. Petersburg/St. Pete Beach area has to offer—including its 361 days of sunshine a year. Book your stay today, pack your sunscreen and swimsuit, and get ready for your best vacation yet.
