About Kyle

My wife and I raised our children (triplets) here in La Jolla and it is truly one of the most beautiful places we have ever lived. There is a small village authenticity here that lends itself to one feeling safe and grateful for such a wonderful caring community.

Kyle purchased this house in 2007

Why Kyle chose La Jolla

Our family enjoyed vacationing in La Jolla and we wanted to have a home that could accommodate our children, guests, family and friends. La Jolla is truly a magical place.

What makes this house unique

Our Meditterranean style villa is less than a 7 minute walk to the center of La Jolla Village where restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and charm are abundant. The home is located by the world-famous La Jolla Cove with its amazing and ever-present wildlife and some of the best surfing and swimming spots in the world - WindanSea and La Jolla Shores. One only has to drive a short distance in order to get to the amazing area attractions like: the San Diego Zoo (20 min.), Balboa Park (and all its Museums (20 min.), Sea World (15 min.), Legoland (30 min.) the downtown Gaslamp District (20 min.), PetCo Park, Mission Bay (15 min.) and beautiful Coronado Island (20 min.).

There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kyle.... it's been a week since I left 1540 Soledad which will remain in my memory as a little bit of heaven. Our family had a marvelous time together (if there were sibling problems going on, they kept them

quiet!) The house was perfect.... inviting, welcoming, sheltering, comforting.... we ate together every night except for an excursion to La Jolla Mexican restaurant... we played and sunned in the back yard, we walked the beaches, we marveled at the seals and sun and shops, we became fast friends with the folks at Vons... never got to Cosco! I

felt like I was in a golden cocoon with my children and grandchildren.

Your house appears to be a special place for all who visit there....

and what a lovely spot to come home to every now and then.

I feel like we're family now... Karen

Enjoy the beautiful outdoor living space!

VRBO Bear stayed here

We highly recommend a stay in this beautiful La Jolla home to experience a wonderful vacation. The home has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, which was more than enough room for our group of 9 Bear family members (6 adults and 3 children). Three of the bedrooms have king beds, which was a major plus given that we had three couples in our group. The upstairs bedrooms have relaxing balconies with incredible views of La Jolla, the beach, and the Pacific Ocean. The house has several living areas and a large, accommodating kitchen, which made it a perfect retreat for cooking meals and enjoying each other's company. The house also has several family-friendly features including kid's toys, movies, and beach toys. The property also has a beautiful outdoor living area and backyard, including several nice sitting areas and many lovely plants native to southern California. The adults enjoyed the outdoor fireplace in the evening and the kids enjoyed playing games in the back yard. We took advantage of the outdoor grill to cook fresh fish from the nearby El Pescador Fish Market. The home is located less than a mile from downtown La Jolla, which has many restaurants and great shopping. Also within walking distance from the house, the La Jolla cove is a must-see (look for the sea lions!) and the Coast Walk trail offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the dramatic La Jolla coastline. A short drive away, the La Jolla Shores Beach is a beautiful public beach. It was very clean, not too crowded, with free parking, and a perfect place to relax and watch beautiful sunsets. For those who enjoy golf, Torrey Pines offers one of the most scenic courses in all of golf. This Bear family had a truly memorable vacation in this fantastic home and we thank the owners for an amazing experience!

The house was overall good. Really nice area.

  • 2 of 5

The 2 stars are just for the Nice house and neighborhood. But the service overlooks the beautiful house and the area. The management is NOT good. Service was HORRIBLE. 1st We couldn't get in the door the latch was broken so I called the manager Joyce, she said "no one else complained to her about it ok that's fine but come fix it so we can get in and don't have to leave the house open but they couldn't send anyone. We checked the other doors and the back door was unlocked so we made it in thru there. The house keeping staff left the back door open for a reason. so we ended up having to leave the back door open the 3 days we were there, she told us it's safe and no one comes to the area, so her word was our safety. Then they told us we were going to have an inspection of the House and the manager will be there. I said ok no problem if it's an inspection we will let them in, but when they came they told us they wanted to buy the house and we're looking at it. And it wasn't the manager it was a real estate broker. They should have rearranged the appointment when they rented the house to us and on top lied to us. After all the corporation from us it's still not over.

Then on the site when we booked it, it said 11am checkout and they tried to kick us out at 10. She said everyone checks out at 10 am. Dude with 9 kids and 8 adults they still couldn't help us but on top tried to kick us out an hour early. the manager Joyce is not good, all she gave us was excuses about everything. All she said was our house is perfect and there is no one else complaining. We went for a family trip and our family had a nice time there, kids enjoyed it a lot. The house was good just the management was not good at all. I Don't recommend it, unless you want to be mentally tortured by the management.

Great spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time during our stay here. It was exactly what our group was looking for. Amazing location, we could take a short stroll to La Jolla village as well as the beach. The house itself was just as described and pictured on the website, and check in / check out was super easy. Joyce and Kyle were also very quick to reply with any of my questions.

Great for large groups!

  • 5 of 5

I was having some friends come to town and needed a place that would accommodate a large group-- this property was great! It had the perfect number of beds for what we needed: slept 14 people comfortably. Super spacious, outdoor fire pit, BBQ, and a large screen TV to watch the game. Another perk was that it was only a $5 uber to downtown La Jolla; some of us walked down to prospect during the day to grab some coffee. There was plenty of space for everyone to hang out both inside and out in the patio/yard.

We really appreciated how helpful Kyle was in making this weekend happen. He was available to answer all my questions via phone, email and text. Our stay was during the SuperBowl and we opted for the late check-out Sunday afternoon, which would normally mean a 5:00 pm... Kyle was so nice! He let us stay until the end of the game.

This is a fabulous property. Our group had a wonderful time. Here are some issues though: two of the toilets didn't work at all - the owner replaced them both with top-of-the-line Toto toilets while we were there; we were not allowed to use any of the 5 fireplaces (there may be a reason for that, but they shouldn't be advertised then); some of the kitchen stove burners do not work; the bedroom nearest the kitchen needs a new mattress - it was like sleeping in a hammock and not good for my back; the place is seeming a little run down overall. But the price was right, all things considered. Fabulous residential neighborhood and very convenient to town. Given a little TLC, this house is a gem.

Best Yoga Retreat Space Ever!

  • 5 of 5

We ran a yoga and Ayurveda Retreat at this wonderful home and could not have been happier. The space was fully equipped, welcoming and exactly what we needed. The family tat runs this house is incredibly thoughtful and accommodating - first class. I would highly recommend this space to any colleagues that are in the yoga industry for a retreat setting. The kitchen is amazing and was the core of the house from which all of our sumptuous food was made. It is a convenient walk to the Village and the grounds are beautiful. We plan to come back in the Spring to host another event. Could not recommend it enough.

Deposit refunded 1/3 year after stay

  • 1 of 5

First of all, this house is fairly nice but definitely shows wear and tear. I would give the house a B+ or possibly even an A-, depending on how picky you are. If you need many bedrooms for a large group, this house accommodates that need quite well.

As for dealing with the owner in getting the deposit refunded, here are some pure, hard FACTS that can be substantiated by written documentation: I stayed at the house for 3 nights and left on May 30, 2016. I received the refund (cleared by the bank) on September 20, 2016. That is 113 days. To be clear, I left the house in good condition, and the owner never disputed that, not even once. The problem was the delayed process. For a period of almost 4 months, I had to beg and remind the owner and his agent to process the refund. I sent about two dozen very polite texts and emails, but there was always an excuse for the delay. Specifically, after almost 3 months, the owner finally got around to sending the check. The first check was allegedly lost in the mail. Then, the owner sent another check, which bounced for insufficient funds. The owner explained that it could be because his bank account was "cyberattacked". EVEN IF I were to accept the explanation that the Post Office lost the first check AND, coincidentally, that a cyberattack of his bank account occurred right around the time I deposited the second check (I deposited the check two days after he wrote the check), there is no reason why it took the owner almost 3 months to start processing the refund (especially when the contract required the refund within 30 days after departure).

To his credit, the owner, without me asking, voluntarily paid me slightly more. I guess he recognized how frustrating the whole process had been for me and wanted to compensate for that.

You MUST read the other negative reviews (counting my review, there are 6 negative reviews out of 36 total reviews, as of September 2016). That’s about 17% negative reviews. I wish I had read the other negative reviews before I booked. One or more other travelers had similar experience as my experience.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, this individual has a very loose relationship with the truth.. We not only gave them the best deal but knew from the beginning they would be a major problem. In fact, our bank accounts were hacked as well as our VRBO account during the time of their stay. We bent over backwards to refund them with a little extra money for the inconvenience. This house is simply stunning and we will make every attempt in the future to better understand who we are renting to before we rent to them.
