Chalet Lynx is a newly built chalet (2014) with spacious garden and wrap-around deck area. It has 3 en suite bedrooms, plus an additional independant fourth sleeping room. It is located in the small town of Les Houches next to the beginner ski area of Le Tourchet.
At the entrance level, there is a spacious living area which has large windows and sliding glass doors. These doors open onto an enormous deck with open mountain views, outside dining area and hot tub. The kitchen is well-equipped and the dining table comfortably seats 8 people. The living area is complemented by a large wood burning stove. There is satellite TV giving a range of UK channels, Wifi and a separate WC. Also on this level is a flexible bedroom (double or twin beds)with en suite shower room.
On the first floor 2 further flexible bedrooms are accessed from an impressive glass floored landing. Both bedrooms have ample storage and an en suite bathroom. One room also has access to the balcony. An independant games room has two double sofa beds, providing an additional 4 sleeping places. This room has a separate WC.
There is also off-road parking and a garage with storage for skis plus heated boot warmers. Mountain Base also offer the neighbouring chalet for rent, which gives an option for larger groups of up to 18 members.
Overall Chalet Lynx is a light and airy chalet with superb views in a lovely quiet location!
Skiing and snowboarding: Chamonix is one of the world's most famous ski areas, having hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels are well-served in a variety of differing areas around Chamonix, including Brevent, Flegere, the famous Grands Montets and Domaine du Balme. The Mont Blanc pass also covers nearby areas including Les Houches, St Gervais, Megeve, Courmayeur and Les Contamines, all within an easy drive. Slightly further afield, but within an hour's drive are Verbier, La Thuile, Flaine and Les Carroz. Despite its reputation as an area for experts only, there are plenty of green, blue and red runs to satisfy beginners and intermediates alike. For the more experienced, Chamonix has miles and miles of adventurous off-piste, including the famous Vallee Blanche, an 18 km experience from the Aiguille du Midi down to the town.
Summer and the rest of the year: With the draw of Europe's premier natural attraction, Mont Blanc, Chamonix never sleeps. Whether it's simply to soak up the stunning scenery or get the adrenaline pumping, there is plenty for everybody to do all year round. There are a wide variety of marked trails for hiking and trekking; well-maintained bolted routes for rock-climbing; limitless mountaineering opportunities including Mont Blanc itself; an ever-expanding network of mountain bike trails; some of the most consistent thermals for superb paragliding; raging white water rapids for rafting and hydro speeding; canyoning and abseiling down the spectacular valley gorges; golf at the Trent Jones Sr designed 18 hole course in Chamonix, as well as many other top quality courses nearby; the sports centre has an indoor and outdoor 50 m swimming pool and a large grassed sunbathing area, water slides, numerous tennis courts, gym, spa, jacuzzi, the list goes on!
