About the property

Walk, paddle, and float in Gruene on the Guadalupe River!

This secluded Gruene River Cabin on the Guadalupe River, is located on a heavily wooded 1-acre lot in the Gruene Historic District, on a beautiful 140-foot span of the Guadalupe River.

A rustic cedar privacy fence encloses the Cabin and private deck area with seating. The Cabin has its own private view of the surrounding woods and landscaped and lighted walkways. Additionally, the private deck has a large Char-grill Infrared Grill, with cooking utensils and propane provided.

The interior of the Gruene River Cabin has been completely redone since its original construction as a 1940's Fishing Camp Cabin, which was the only structure originally on this property deeded by the original German Immigrants who settled in New Braunfels.

The Cabin has a King-Size bed, and a full private bathroom, and can accommodate 2. All new Ralph Lauren suede-paint interiors, blinds, and luxury-grade carpet have been added. Additionally, the full bathroom includes a tumbled-limestone floor, new blinds, and new fixtures.

The Cabin also has it's own new stainless-steel refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, toaster, a new A/C/Heat unit, a new Cherry-wood remote-controlled electric fireplace (heat optional), full coffee service, ceiling fan, and a new LCD TV/DVD/CD player.

From the yard, one can overlook the Guadalupe River with an unobstructed view of the opposing riverbank and undeveloped limestone cliffs. The yard is shaded by huge Cypress, Pecan, Cedar Elm, and Monterrey and Live Oak trees, and is perfect for outdoor lounging on the deck as well as the Stone Fire-Ring seating area (firewood provided).

Guestbook comments from the owner

The cabin was just what we needed. There was no pressure to go and do anything. Plenty of R and R. So we read our books by the river and grilled steaks at night. Oh yea, we used the kayaks too that was fun. We visited the little city of Gruene and enjoyed the great little shops. We had a great time. Just what the doctor ordered. We shall visit again one day, maybe get several others and stay in the big house which looks wonderful. Thank you for sharing your wonderful little cabin with us. The fire ring was great too. Very romantic at night to watch from inside the cabin.

Perfect for two

The cabin is located perfectly for river access, excursions into gruene, and we loved our morning kayaking trip. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a river getaway.

Beautiful, private getaway with river access

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just got back from staying at the Historic Gruene River Cabin and we loved it! The cabin is surrounded by a very tall log fence that gives you a feeling of privacy. I loved that when you go through the gate, you have your own private courtyard of sorts with places to sit outside and enjoy nature. The cabin was cozy and very clean. I like to have my space, and I didn't feel too cramped in there. The river which is just across the driveway and down through the backyard, and is absolutely gorgeous! My favorite part was access to the kayak. I had never gone kayaking before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but we had so much fun they we went more than once. If you go upstream to the left, there is a beautiful waterfall that isn't too far away. Another bonus is that there are deer everywhere! I mean a ton! And since they are so used to people because the neighbors feed them, the deer let you get really close to them before they run off. We will definitely be staying here again!

wonderful

The cabin was clean, and the location was fantastic. It proved to be a fantastic respite from the heat and a comfortable place to sleep at night. The interior is decorated with class and the exterior made for a private outdoor sitting room. We will be coming back.

Perfect Hideaway on the River

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a private place near Gruene and on the river for my wife and I to spend a few nights, and the Historic Gruene Cabin was perfect. The restaurant suggestions that Chris gave were also very helpful. Union Station has great breakfast, and I doubt we would have found it on our own. We will be back!

Little Cottage

  • 3 of 5

For such a small cottage, you certainly thought of everything! It was clean, cute, secluded (except by anyone coming down the driveway) and it was by the river. At first it was awkward because it was behind, and to the side, of the main house and we had to walk past them to share a small side piece of the huge yard the renters were using. But they were very nice. The river was so peaceful even though fast flowing. Make sure you take lawn chairs so you can sit and enjoy the river, the deer and the ducks. It was beautiful! And it was close to Gruene and easy to get anywhere in the area. I was however disappointed that the tall shrubs in front of the patio and front door blocked any view of anything. The web pictures showed the river so I assumed there would be a view from the cottage. You might consider trimming them so renters could enjoy a view of the river.
