A well equipped, beautiful home!
We have rented many houses over the years in several states but this house is at the top of the list! It is beautifully appointed, yet welcoming and comfortable.....set back in the woods on a lake. Peaceful and quiet.....a real get away from our hectic world! Lynne has provided everything you can possibly need...and more! The kitchen is fabulous and made cooking easy.....entertaining is a delight with the open spaces and multiple dining areas. The dock and canoes were the highlight for our family......life vests enough for all....we wish we could bottle the laughter that attended hours on the beautiful lake! We saw only one other boater out one day....the lake feels like it is yours alone! A little rain here and there afforded game time......and our favorite spot....the screened in porch! The Piggly Wiggly has everything you might need for any kind of meal.....and Sewanee provides great excursions! Looking out over the Pelham (Franklin County) Valley overlook at the Memorial (60 foot) Cross is breathtaking!
Sewanee Natural Bridge (stone) is also a must.....and All Saints Chapel can't be adequately described! Monteagle also boasts trails and lakes and The Assembly Grounds ....interesting history. We have been to these places many times before but always take the opportunity to see them again. Everything is close....no long drives to take in architectural wonders as well as creational wonders. A Tennessee gem. We cannot thank Lynne enough for sharing her home. She responds quickly and genuinely cares about your stay. Lovely week....hard to leave. We will return again!
Comfortable, spacious home in beautiful, tranquil setting.
We rented this lovely home for our daughter's Sewanee graduation. The screened in porch was a favorite place to read or nap, the porch overlooking the lake an idyllic spot for morning coffee, or just to sit and listen to the birds. Downstairs master perfect for elderly grandparents, while the large upstairs room accommodated our teens. We only had breakfasts at the home but the kitchen had everything we needed. We did have to share the two showers, but the large downstairs powder room was a practical place for the girls to get ready. We enjoyed walking through the wooded trails and sitting on the dock. Unfortunately we were not there long enough to take out the canoes.
The owner was accessible for questions, and made us feel welcome with a basket of goodies.
Great experience overall. Hope to return.
Beautiful, Peaceful, Perfect House!
This was our second year staying at this fantastic home. It was perfect for a weekend getaway with the girls. There were 8 of us. We had plenty of room, beds were comfortable and it had all the amenities we needed. We sat for hours on the screen porch and on the dock just visiting and enjoying our time together.
We brought our road bikes. The ride through Clifftops was a lovely and challenging way to start and finish each ride. There are also nice hiking options in Clifftops.
I highly recommend this home for your next Sewanee vacation!
I rented the Trafalgar House for our firm's annual retreat. The home is lovely and works perfectly for groups. There were large dining areas (both inside and out), spacious bedrooms (with enough private spaces to house several unrelated people), and good living areas. The screened-in porch was fabulous, especially on rainy days when you still want to enjoy nature. The best part of the home was the gorgeous lake views. One of my colleagues remarked that she could feel the stress melt away as she was sitting by the lake. I highly recommend Trafalgar House for a relaxing getaway!
We just enjoyed a great Memorial Day weekend at Trafalgar House. The location was great, secluded but not too isolated. The dock is also very private. We rarely saw or heard other people, much more likely to hear fish jumping in the lake. We spent a lot of time in the water, canoeing and playing. Our next favorite spot was the screened porch, incredibly peaceful at all times. The house was well-appointed with everything we needed and more. The house is very close to great outdoor trips, such as Natural Bridge, hiking around the Sewanee campus and spending time on the Fiery Grizzard trail. We definitely plan on making return trips to the area and staying at Trafalgar House again.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at Trafalgar House in June. The scenic lake setting is beautiful and relaxing. It is tucked away in a quiet gated community, but with easy access to Sewanee, Monteagle, Chattanooga and the South Cumberland pocket wilderness areas. The house is immaculate and well appointed with many personal touches that make it feel like a "home away from home"... much better than a sterile hotel room. We enjoyed day hikes, Sewanee campus, and other local activities. But we also liked just relaxing at the house... playing games, teaching my grandson how to fish from the dock, etc. Lots of deer, birds, frogs, fish jumping in the lake and the biggest owl I have ever seen.
The houses are far enough apart that it feels like you have the place to yourself. It is much more than just a place to sleep. Plenty of great restaurants nearby (Pearl's, Ivy Wild, Crossroads, Mountain Goat Market & others), and a well-stocked kitchen for meals at home. The owner is extremely helpful and responds promptly. I am so glad we found this hidden gem! We have already made reservations for a return visit in October.
