About Dave Milner
Our names are Gail and Dave. We met in 1989 as singers in a band, and have been married for 23 years. Gail works for Manchester University and Dave is a music teacher. We have 2 grown up children, Jack and Ellie and an old Jack Russell called Charlie.
Dave Milner purchased this House in 2018
Why Dave Milner chose Holmfirth
We bought this property as our quest to buy a bigger house near our current home in the Peak District had fallen flat. With our search extended, we happened upon this cottage and instantly got that voila! It is our retreat and we love it!
What makes this House unique
Peace and quiet, walks, Yorkshire, nearby villages and towns and the mood of the house can feel the history.

Spectacular cottage with many thoughtful touches
Really lovely cottage. Spacious, warm, beautifully fitted out with everything you’d need from cafetière to chromecast.
Lovely thoughtful extras including scones, cream and Prosecco on arrival and bathroom extras. Great instructions and contact from the owners. The cottage is an easy walk to Holmfirth and there is a bus stop outside too (the weather got the better of us so we got a bus from Holmfirth back )
The pictures don’t do the house justice. The views are wonderful too. Would stay here again without hesitation.
Top notch accommodation
Spent a smashing weekend in this extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage. Lovely fresh bed linen, thoughtful welcome package and lots of home essentials provided in kitchen and bathroom. Would love to return for longer next time.
This area is quite quirky in that it is close to small villages and the countryside, but also 15 minutes from Huddersfield centre , 45 minutes from Manchester, 30 minutes from Leeds and Sheffield and 40 minutes from both the north Yorkshire moors and the Peak district. Plenty of history, outdoor pursuits but also cosy and welcoming.
