My husband and I have been coming to San Miguel for years. We are so thankful we discovered Tenerias Ocho most recently as it really captures the charm and feel of San Miguel. The natural light and open floor plan makes it hard to believe you are in the heart of the city! We spent much of our time on the 3rd floor rooftop enjoying the incredible views of the city. One night there were fireworks in the jardin and you really couldn't have asked for a better view. The kitchen and dining areas exceptional for entertaining. We were able to cook a large meal for some of our friends we have met in San Miguel over the years. The personal touches around the house make it feel like home and we are so thankful we found this hidden gem. The owners and property manager were super responsive and helpful when we had any questions. Cannot wait to book our next stay! Thank you again!!

Fabulous Home – Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We spent 10 wonderful days in San Miguel at Tenerias Ocho for our son’s wedding. The house is just gorgeous with an open floor plan, stunning architectural and interior design details, plus has all the modern conveniences and amenities necessary for a very comfortable stay. The main floor has a fully equipped kitchen and a generous dining area that allowed us to have several large gatherings of family and friends.

This house is light and spacious as the pictures show, just so comfortable. We really enjoyed the 3rd Floor bedroom suite that included a sitting room with fireplace and tall, glass doors on each end to allow fresh, open breezes all night long.

The rooftop terrace provided a beautiful setting and an amazing 360 view of San Miguel. Sunsets were impeccable with the mountain backdrops, and the view of the Parroquia lit up at night was spectacular. The rooftop garden also has beautifully cared for plants and flowers: we even saw a hummingbird one morning!

The location is fantastic in the historic El Centro of San Miguel. Everything is in walking distance including the Jardin, Parque Juarez, Artisans Market, shops and dining, so no need for taxis. We loved starting the day with a morning walk in the Parque Juarez, or even catching a basketball game or Zumba class there.

The owners, Tim and Trish, were extremely responsive and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this house, Tenerias Ocho, and its gracious owners to anyone looking to rent in San Miguel de Allende.

Lovely home, Perfectly located

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home on one of the oldest and most picturesque streets in San Miguel.

It's location in the midst of the Historico Centro is ideal and was paramount to our experience of the city.

We walked everywhere; no need for taxis.

The city is lively and noisy, but it's quiet inside the house.

The home is spacious and with all the comforts; modern kitchen, very comfortable beds, gas fireplaces, water filtration, Viking grill on patio...

It's hard to find a place with 3 master bedrooms and the third floor bedroom is like an apartment onto itself.

Most memorable is the roof top garden with its' spectacular views; wonderful place to relax and enjoy the sunset...

The owners Trish and Tim were lovely, responsive and available.

The housekeeper was so quiet we barely noticed when she was there.

Thanks for sharing your home.

*don't miss the coffee shop on the corner... best coffee ever!

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

When my wife and I first stepped inside this beautiful house at Tenerias Ocho seven years ago, we knew immediately that we had made the right choice and, as a result, we have returned every year since. In fact, we have joked with the owner that it feels like our second home. The house is tastefully decorated and furnished and its open floor plan provides the perfect venue for entertaining, while the three master suites provide comfort and privacy. There are three lovely outdoor seating areas, our favorite being on the roof where we can enjoy a 360 degree view of San Miguel and the surrounding countryside. Cocktails at sunset has become a regular ritual. Another ritual we enjoy is having our morning coffee, sitting in the super-comfortable leather lounge chairs in front of the fireplace in the den, just off the kitchen, as we listen to classical music and plan our activities for the day ahead. Finally, we love the location, which is a short walk to the Jardin, Parque Juarez and all the restaurants and shops the city has to offer. Needless to say, we highly recommend a stay at Tenerias Ocho.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Ken for your review. I really value it since you've occupied the house longer than anyone, even me over the past 9 years. In 7 months spread over the past 7 years, you should know the house better than anyone.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a girls week in San Miguel de Allende. The stay at the house was wonderful! It's close to the center of town and the neighborhood is charming. I'll be going back with my husband and family, and we'll be staying at this lovely house again.

Not as it seemed

  • 1 of 5

I have to agree with the last poor evaluation. Not until I was looking for a place to stay this year, did I realize how much I depend on what others who have actually stayed on the property have to say. When we arrived the kitchen and half bath floor was so sticky our shoes stuck and the counter top and appliances were greasey. I reported to the manager and she said it was a sealer??? There were food crumbs in all the drawers and the dishes we dusty. We washed all the dishes and cleaned out the drawers before we used anything.

The neighbor across the street had a spa sign outside their door, but we were told not to go there by the manager. Looked a bit sketchy by the people that were coming and going.

The jacuzzi tub on the second floor did not work. They sent someone to repair, but black participles shot out of the jets, so we opted not to use it. There were tons of dust bunnies on the closet floors. The fireplace on the second floor had a propane oder. The third floor had no shower curtain so we had to mop the floor after every shower. There are no screens on the large doors out to the patio which had to be open at night to get any air, so we had to deal with bugs.

We got spots of hairspray on the bedspread upstairs that evidently could not be cleaned and after sending swatches of fabric to make a new spread, the owner chose to replace, everything, bedspread, shams and bed skirt for $183 deducted from our deposit.

San Miguel can be a noisy place, but that is part of the charm, however car alarms and loud music from two different locations got to be a bit much. The house is nice ,the stairs can be tricky. The steps are open strips of metal and can play with you eyes when you are going up or down three flights. Because everything is so open, which can be a nice feature, noise travels throughout the house, voices, tv, music... I've been coming to San Miguel for seven years and had to change where I've stayed in the past because they sold the rental property. I'll be staying elsewhere this upcoming trip.

Owner's Response: Dear Randi B. (Rick B.?) I was very concerned at onset of your review sent yesterday bc I couldn't understand the drop in quality of cleaning from our maid, who's had excellent reports except for man, who was unhappy after he was charged $25 for extra day. However, it all made sense when I read about the stained duvet cover. It's been a year since your stay so I reviewed your 27 emails & 7 emails, including photos of damage, from my manager, Yoko regarding your month long stay with 2 of your friends. Yoko reported continuous bloody sheets, towels, and washcloths due to cosmetic surgery of 2 women. When I emailed that some towels & duvet cover were permanently stained, you denied bloody linens saying that it must have been guests following you, That could not be true bc our manager reported it one wk into your stay. I deducted $183 for replacement of the duvet cover. I did not charge you for the damaged towels or as you stated, "everything, bedspread, shams and bed skirt". I could never purchase all those items for $183. That seemed more than fair. Your friend called me twice & sent swatches of some fabric to make a new duvet cover but colors & fabric were not even close to damaged duvet cover. It's surprising that these complaints could be so detailed 1 year later. After reviewing your emails, only one of your complaints was reported to Yoko or myself & that was the Bain Ultra (a $12,000 bath which I imported from Canada bc it massages and heats back w/o jets) wasn't working. The following day the electrician tripped the breaker, making it operable again. The bath has no jets so I don't see how "black particles shot out of the jets". There was never a report of propane smell in your emails or from any other guests since your stay. Nor did you report any problems w/ cleaning til now. We don't have a shower curtain bc it was built as a doorless shower. It’s shower head faces downward, several ft. from opening. There is bath mat to catch water as you exit the shower so am wondering why "we had to mop the floor after every shower". There is a shower curtain on the 2nd floor bath/shower bc it requires one. We don't have screens on the french doors leading to the 3rd fl. terraces. Our MX architect said that we wouldn’t need them on the 3rd fl. She was right as we’ve never seen insects nor had a complaint until yours. Am not sure what you mean about spa sign across street as we've never seen one & not sure how our house has more noise.
