About Molly Dickinson
I believe every true journey is a story worth sharing. I'm a writer and marketer by trade. My husband, Damon, works in healthcare startups. Together, we cook, eat, create, tour, explore, hike, paddle, and get purposefully lost (and found) on the regular. Traveling and bringing people together are some of our greatest joys in life. That's why we created Cohabitat, an LLC partnership for sharing our home (and—eventually—homes) with the world. If you're ever in the Atlanta area, we'd love to host you at our cabin—the best little a-frame in Blue Ridge—just 1.5 hours north of the city in the beautiful Georgia mountains.
Molly Dickinson purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Molly Dickinson chose Blue Ridge
We purchased The Outpost the same month we were married, because we wanted to make sure that regular mountain escapes—and sharing them with fellow travelers—were a part of our life together. With its modern-rustic a-frame style and ideal location (10 minutes from town yet nestled in the woods with good neighbors close by) we just knew The Outpost was right for us. We hope you'll feel the same the moment you step through the bright-red front door.
What makes this Cabin unique
There aren't many a-frames available for rent in the area, and none quite like ours. With its perfect balance of rustic and modern style (no stuffed bears allowed!) and all the comforts of a true mountain home, The Outpost really stands out. We also added a few unique personal touches we love—like the record player and travel guitar—that we're happy to share with fellow travelers.

Downtown Blue Ridge is a postcard mountain town with friendly locals, a historic main street lined with well preserved and updated storefronts, and a surprising (and growing) number of eateries, shops, outfitters, and more. We discover something new every time we visit.
Cherry Log Mountain (home to The Outpost), and neighboring communities including Blue Ridge, Ellijay, McCaysville, and Copperhill, are surrounded by lush forestlands, rivers, and lakes—all beckoning hikers, paddlers, riders, and wilderness adventurers of all stripes. A handy guide to a few of our favorites is waiting for you at The Outpost; just look for big red book.
We're always looking for new places to go and people to meet, so please do share your photos and finds with us on Instagram (@cohabitatco, #outpost171).
An SUV, truck, 4WD, or similarly equipped vehicle is best for getting up and around our mountain roads, particularly those leading to trailheads, waterfalls, and other rugged destinations (think dirt, gravel, winding, and steep). If you're visiting us in winter and snow or ice is a possibility, we definitely recommend a suitable vehicle, a winter preparedness kit in your car, and experience driving in such conditions (better safe than sorry!) Keep in mind that, even though they are narrow, most mountain roads are two-ways. Look ahead for oncoming vehicles, and be prepared to pull over to let folks pass if you have the better shoulder space. Beyond this, we cannot offer you advice as to whether a specific make of vehicle is suitable for accessing the cabin. We ask all guests to please use the above information and your best judgement when planning your trip.
There are two parking areas at the cabin: A steeper drive with room for up to two vehicles, and a lower, flatter drive with room for one (so, up to three vehicles total). From either, we recommend backing out and continuing down to the cul-de-sac next door to turn around, rather than making a multi-point turn on our narrow gravel road. We ask that you limit your vehicles to what will safely fit in the parking areas (1-3, depending on vehicle size), and do not block roads or park vehicles in the cul-de-sac. Remember: We share our little slice of the mountain with our neighbors and their visitors as well.
Ride sharing apps (Uber/Lyft) have not yet arrived in our neighborhood, and area taxi services are limited. We recommend you BYO vehicle(s) AND DD, if you plan to enjoy the local bar offerings. When in need of a taxi, the Fannin County Chamber lists the following: Howard Jabaley Taxi Service, Mountain Transportation, and A2B Transit.
