We looked very hard to find a mountain get-away where we had awesome views of the Great Smoky Mountains while being close to all of the outdoor activities the mountains have to offer. Our 'Hiddenvacation' is in a beautiful community with custom log homes but also provides us with the privacy we desire.
Our family enjoys relaxing from our hectic schedule in the city. The mountains provide views and all of the outdoor activities we enjoy such as hiking the Appalachian Trail, canoeing the Little Tennesse River, white water rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, fishing for trout and bass at our local fishing spots, taking long walks around the development and we can go on and on!
Our trip to Hidden Acres was a WOW experience from the time we drove up the paved road to 2,125 feet. WOW as we saw the log cabin where we were going to spend two weeks, WOW to the view across the valley, WOW to the outdoor fireplace where we enjoyed making Smores with the family and WOW to the cozy inside of the cabin. The cabins 3 bedrooms each with its own bath provided ample space and privacy to adults and there would be ample sleeping space for a total of 10. My wife and I especially enjoyed the loft which provided a view of the mountains each morning as we woke up to the singing of birds. During our walks to the Little Tennessee River we heard turkeys and saw deer almost everyday.
We found the cabin to have everything needed to prepare meals, we brought a crockpot so we had meals ready when we got back from the days activities. Cell phone receptions is a little spotty but that was a good thing, it forces you to enjoy the surroundings.
The cabin is centrally located to Franklin and Bryson City. The Nanatahala Outdoor Center is the premier whitewater rafting company in the area and is only 30 minutes away. I have used them a number of times and there guides are fantastic. The must sees are endless so I won’t even try to list them, but if you are up for the ride the “White Squirrels” on the campus of Brevard College in Brevard are worth the trip. (Eat at Mayberry’s while you are in town}. During our time here we had a couple of questions and Theresa responded very quickly both by text and phone.
Thank you for allowing to enjoy your home during the Christmas Holiday. The small tree was the perfect touch and the view is stunning. We had a fire in the fireplace every day from sunup to sundown. We brought an ax so my husband could stay busy chopping wood and maintaining the fire. We loved the Polar Express with our children and grandchildren. Word of warning...the downstairs heat was difficult to maintain. Hope to visit another time.
We have used home away a lot. This house is everything the owner has stated and then some. Very clean, family friendly, great view, and everything works in the house. Highly recommend.
This was a beautiful place to stay, the view was amazing and the community was so quiet. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a home away from home. We would definitely consider staying here again.
My wife and I, along with another couple, visited this cabin and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking quiet, solitude and most everything you would expect in a mountain cabin.
It was close to everything we wanted to explore, and much more we didn't have time to do.
If you are looking for a nice clean cabin with open floor space, we highly recommend you chose this one....
Kitchen, BR / BA / DR / LR and deck on ground accessible main floor for those with disabilities, downstairs area for kids / teenagers and upstairs loft BR as well.
Thank you for a outstanding experience. NO Complaints and we will book again..

“The Long and Winding Road” Although a song by the Beatles it is a perfect description of your great mountain hideaway. Floridians, beach people, go to the mountains for a change of scenery. We don't drive on mountain roads and they always seem longer and more winding. Every inch worth the drive. To sit and look towards the Appalachian Trail and wonder who might be ready to start their long adventure. To sit and listen to the quiet (it's a great non-sound). To watch the winter birds search for a feeding as the sun begins to warm the mornings after sub-freezing nights. To watch the slowing emptying feeder as if it were an hour glass. A weekend, an Anniversary celebration, a Valentine get-away, all provided by your Smokey Mountain retreat.
Thanks for the extra treat of firewood, though we brought some of our own. Thanks for the clean and restful environment. Most of all, thanks for the great directions. They were spot-on.
Dinner at Cafe REL, Lucio's, and in Cherokee at Brio Tuscan Grill filled all the needs for fine dining. Even offering the use of your Ingles card was an extra thoughtful touch.
We will be back.

Our family enjoyed our weekend on the gentle side of the Smoky's. The cabin's location was centrally located so that we were able to enjoy time in both Franklin and Bryson City without traveling long distances. Visits to the NOC and Deep Creek were highlights of the trip. The inside of the cabin was quite cozy. Our grandson had plenty of room to play indoors and a gate allowed him to spend time with us out on the deck. The cabin was well maintained and the beds were comfortable. Coffee on the deck with a spectacular view got the days off to a great start. Enjoying the full moon out by the stone fireplace made our evenings peaceful and relaxing--the perfect place for roasting hot dogs and making Smore's! I would recommend this cabin for adults and families with older children/teenagers.
