Want a wine tour in Fredericksburg? Check out www.moonsvinyardvoyages.com. Add $200 to their rates and they will pick you up and return you to the lodge.
Activities:: Many guests visit Colorado Bend State Park(San Saba Co), the Eckert James River Bat cave(Mason Co), Enchanted Rock(Llano County), Vanishing River Cruise(Burnet County), and the new rock stacking park at the bridge in Llano. See Internet for information. Of course a day in Fredericksburg is always a lot of fun. The lodge is popular with reunion groups, large families, several families, home school families, winter Texans, women groups, and Christian or boy/girl scout groups and anyone wanting a break from the whirlwind of towns and spend a weekend or week in the country. Enjoy sitting around the round the fire pit in the back yard, listening to the coyotes, watching the deer sneak up to see what’s going on.
This is a wonderful place to unwind, but it is remote. There are no nearby stores. Remember you will be in the middle of a Texas ranch. You will need to bring your own food. I do have a butane grill, a wood grill or cook on the pit in the back yard. You will be equal distance for Brady, San Saba, Mason, and Llano. Llano has a place called Miiller's Llano Smokehouse and Mercantile that can make you some excellent meat and cheese snack plates. They have won many awards for their meats. They can make a plate for any number. I can accommodate you on getting the snack plates ordered and delivered. It is great deal for large families or groups that want to stay several nights and tour the local sites. Some of the group can come at separate times. Remember, 4 nights cost the same as two!
Since it is so remote with only a few lights glowing on the horizon and none directly it is an excellent place to bring your telescope and star gaze. The ranch tour gives kids an idea of the ranch setting. We feed cows and here about how they are raised. I also include a history of an old wagon trail on the ranch and historical events that happened in the hill country that really are not covered that much in the history books. I also include some geological history as we drive through several geological formations on the tour. Of course, the information is edited to fit the group. The main reason for the whole tour is to have fun. Answering kids questions is sometimes the most fun thing we do. For more video check out you tube and Pontotoc memories God Bless Texas

The Lodge is located near the corner of McCulloch (Brady), Mason, San Saba, and Llano counties in central Texas. It is 60 miles from Fredericksburg. 25 miles from San Saba, Llano, Brady, and Mason.
Other Activities: bird watching, star gazing
Golf: All the towns around Pontotoc have golf courses. The best would be Llano, which has some beautiful holes along side the Llano River, and the San Saba course located along the San Saba river under massive Pecan Trees. The Brady course has bent grass greens.
Year Purchased: 1937
About the owner: I am a real estate agent and rancher. I still ranch part time and enjoy sharing this property with folks who like a break from the city lights, traffic, and noise. When I occasionally travel to the metropolitan areas I realize how blessed I am to have inherited this ranch.
Why the Owner Chose Fredonia, TX, USA:
I believe I give a tour unlike anything city folks will be able to see. The diverse geology, the traces of almost lost Texas history, and even the story that the native trees and grasses leaves us with makes everyone appreciate what a country we live in.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I give a ranch tour. The highlight is feeding the cows, the drive down the canyon, fishing in the tank, and for the early birds, there is always the thrill of nature in the morning when you never know what is around the corner as you take the ranch tour. Hogs, deer, rabbits, armadillo's, and birds all seem to be out at that hour. Also, I have discovered an old wagon trail. Travel down a trail which very possibly is one of the oldest roads in Texas. Discover some of Texas history before the Alamo and Stephen F Austin. Return to bar-b-que in the back yard under the stars out of sight of city lights. Watch the deer feeding outside the yard fence.
