Great time on Harbor Island

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. This is our 4th time vacationing here and we will be back. The house is always super clean and had plenty of room for 4 adults and 3 kids. We caught lots of crabs in the crab trap and enjoyed fishing on the beach. We caught several huge "Reds" and a few sharks. We can't wait for next year! Thanks again!!!

Relaxing Place to Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We had a large group stay at this house and didn't feel cramped or on top of each other for the week. The decks overlook the marshes and can see both sun rise and sun sets from the upper decks/porches. There is a egret nesting area just past the house that has 50+ birds there at all times. The community pool was very nice and spacious. The golf cart was a great extra to the house so we could cruise the island with ease. The owners were friendly and easy to communicate with. We would recommend this house to others.

Wonderful beach house

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 really enjoyed staying at Marshmelon! We had such great weather and found so much to do that we didn't spend too much time at the house, but the time we did spend in the house was perfect. Everything we needed was provided and I can't think of anything that I wish we had access to that wasn't already there. We all enjoyed sitting out on the porches in the evenings and mornings watching the wildlife, the beautiful scenery, or a wicked thunderstorm. The kids loved travelling around in the golf cart and using the crab trap. We caught a good amount of crabs, but let them all go. The beaches in the area were very nice and not overly crowded in any way. We had several dolphin sightings. Everywhere we went everyone was so friendly. Our 9 year old daughter kept commenting about how nice everyone was. We really enjoyed the time at Hunting State Park, so thank you for providing that pass. We enjoyed some shrimp burgers from the Shrimp Shack, some fresh seafood from Gay Fish Company, and frog legs from Foolish Frog. And the best meal we had came from Sgt. White's Diner in Beaufort!!! We can't wait to come back to Marshmelon for our next vacation. This was our first time anywhere in the area and we fell in love. Truly a great location!

Comfy, Clean and Convenient. A home away from home!

  • 4 of 5

Marshmelon was a welcome respite for two adults needing a week's break in late February.

We found the home to be very clean throughout (top to bottom). It has a nice fully equipped kitchen with newer, nicer full size appliances. And the laundry includes clean, full size appliances as well. Unlike many homes with pretty looking but incredibly uncomfortable sofas and chairs, this home's furnishing are not only stylish, they are comfortable after a long day of beach combing. The master bed was very room, firm and comfy. The master bath is roomy as well with a nice large shower, great shower head and extra touches, like boutique shampoo, body and hand soaps. We spent many hours at the dining table reading, having coffee and doing crafts. The game room on the ground level looked very fun with loads of room and games to enjoy. The upstairs bedrooms and bath went unused during our stay but seemed nicely appointed and appropriate for kids or young adults wishing for some privacy.

This is a great size home for just two adults and would also be plenty large enough for a family of 4 or 5.

The back screened porch and second story open deck were both comfy and offered great views of the setting sun. The front porch was very comfy as well in nice rocking chairs perfect for enjoying morning sun.

The golf cart came in very handy for little trips around the island.

We used the pass to Hunting Island at least 4 days out of 7.

All in all, a really nice rental with all the creature comforts for making a relaxing vacation. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for a reasonably priced house to rent on Harbor Island.

Looking froward to our next trip down to the Lowcountry and a stay in Marshmelon.

Perfect family beach vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and 3 yo daughter stayed in this wonderful house for a week. This was our first visit to Harbor Island. This is the place to come if you want a laid back, relaxed and non crowded beach. We loved having the golf cart and the provided beach chairs and toys! The house was plenty roomy for the 3 of us. We enjoyed breakfast every morning on the screened in back porch. The late evenings we spent on the upstairs deck. There are two sets of stairs in the house without gates if you have curious little ones. Thankfully my daughter never tried to go down by herself. We were a tad nervous with her sleeping upstairs but it never was an issue but for some it may be. A gate would be a nice addition for those that may need it. This beach is perfect for little ones as there are no big waves. We also visited the pool. There is a small kiddie pool as well. We especially loved having the pass to hunting island park. We went there most days and walked the trails. Def do the marsh Boardwalk trail and the nature trail from the nature center. My daughter loved the nature center where they had snakes, turtles, crabs and fish. We went to beaufort one morning and enjoyed the shops and lunch at panini's. Also had dinner one night at Dockside which was very good! We ate almost all our meals at the house. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would ever need! Make sure you stop at grocery store on your way in. Everything in the house is labeled from the shelves in the kitchen cabinets to the light switches. Lots of extra touches! My husband enjoyed the cd collection in the basement and the books in the reading loft. For older kids there are a bunch of board games in the game room. Also there is a fuse ball table but we couldn't find the ball. Owners are also quick to respond via email. We couldn't of asked for a better vacation! Thanks again!
