About Kari A Salvesen
Hi! My name is Kari and the handsome man beside me is Ed. We've been together since 2007 when we met as teachers in Thailand. We've traveled throughout the world and are lucky enough to have settled down in Nanaimo. We've lived here for around 2 years now, and we love it. We have two daughters and a golden retriever, and when we are not out in the garden, we are down by the beach, playing in the park, or at my parent's property south of town. Ed is English, and somehow he will still come up with words I've never heard him say before! I grew up in Calgary, spent my university years in Saskatchewan, and hope to spend many more years on the Island.

Why Kari A Salvesen chose Departure Bay
My parents retired to Nanaimo, and when Ed wanted a career change and our first daughter was on the way, we decided to give Nanaimo a try as well. Once Ed graduated with his MBA, we moved around a bit, had a second daughter, and decided to come back to the Island to give it a proper go. We absolutely love our house, its location and the privacy it affords us, right in the middle of town. As I type this, I hear the frogs croaking from the pond in the golf course and the Canada Geese honking as they fly overhead. Nanaimo is a city that has all we need, and we constantly find out more gems it has to offer.
What makes this House unique
We bought our house based purely on the location. From the driveway, we can see the ocean, float planes, the ferry coming and going, ships docked, and on clear days, Vancouver's sky line. From the back yard, we can see the city's most prestigious golf course. Deer often (much to my chagrin, as I learn how to garden better) walk through our property, going to and from the golf course. Last year, before we got our golden retriever, a deer made the fallen cedar leaves by the massive tree in our front yard her bed for about a month. We see hummingbirds, squirrels, many different types of birds, snails, frogs, and occasionally even a family of raccoons!
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
We are located close to the beach, right on a golf course, and close to the highway to get either North or South. Nothing is farther than 15 minutes either direction within town, so it is easy to see all that Nanaimo has to offer.
