Newly Renovated Waterfront Home-Private Dock on Deep Water Cove

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Renovated Waterfront Retreat

Come see why we return to this Maine idyll year after year. We've lived all over the world as expatriates, yet we always look forward to spending time in our Maine retreat. We know you'll love it here, too, where the pine forest and rocky coast meet the peaceful, deep waters.

After a day of swimming and strolling at Popham Beach, retire to the deck to enjoy the breeze and watch the sun set over Brigham's Cove and Winnegance Bay. Then come inside to enjoy lobsters or grilled swordfish as you look out to the water through the floor to ceiling windows. Adults can have a peaceful conversation in the main living area while children watch their favorite shows in the adjoining TV room. The house has 4 airy bedrooms upstairs and two full baths. The master bedroom opens to the upper balcony. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a separate laundry room.

The best beach in Maine, at Popham Beach State Park, is 20 minutes from the house. You can visit Fort Popham and finish your day with a casual seafood dinner at Spinney's Restaurant.

Brigham's Cove is peaceful and quiet, yet it's very close to all the amenities of the mid-coast including Historic Bath and the Maine Maritime Museum, the eclectic college town of Brunswick, and Freeport--home to LL Bean and name brand outlet shops.

Reid State park is also nearby, and Portland and Camden are about an hour from the house. Acadia National Park is just 3 hours away in Bar Harbor.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, you can swim, canoe or kayak directly from our private dock and explore the cove and surrounding inlets. There are plenty of nearby areas for hiking, biking, fishing and sailing.

Come to the Maine coast and enjoy life at Brigham's Cove House.

If you've never been to Maine in the fall, it's not to be missed. Stay for a weekend (see rates below) and take in the spectacular Autumnal colors!

A great taste of Maine

  • 5 of 5

This home was a wonderful setting for our family gathering of 8 people. We cooked lots of blueberry pancakes in the brand new well stocked kitchen and grilled many dinners outside on the deck. Evenings were spent playing games around the generously sized dining room table. Our 8 and 10 year old grandchildren had fun fishing ( we only caught crabs) from the dock, but really loved Popham Beach State Park, 20 minutes away. The location was a perfect launching point for day trips to the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden in Boothbay, LLBean in Freeport and our son's favorite brewery in Portland. Our CA daughter- in- law got her fill of lobster at various local restaurants and we found a Bait and Tackle shop on 209 that had the best homemade pies. It was a wonderful week in a very comfortable home.

Best place ever!!

  • 5 of 5

We have been having such a good time at this place that we are booking for the 3rd time. The house is perfect. Nice view, well equipped kitchen, spacious rooms, comfortable furniture. Always find the house to be clean and well stocked with essentials. There are plenty of movies for that rainy day. We love sitting at the dining room table and watching for Eagles and other wildlife. Just beautiful! There are plenty of good restaurants close by. We try to find ones that we can visit by boat. Looking forward to our 2016 adventures!!

The house nestled on the water's edge, with lovely trees creates such a sanctuary for wildlife and offers outstanding bird watching. The dock and mooring are an added bonus, it is so good to know that they are being enjoyed. Looking forward to your return!

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My Family of six, four children ages 20, 18, 14,10 spent a week at Brigham's Cove Cottage and had a great time. The home is located on the ocean and has great views. My kids enjoyed sitting on the dock and looking and playing in the ocean. The home was clean and well maintained. On a normal day we would eat breakfast at the home and then drive for 20 minutes to Popham Beach State Park. The beach there is great! We would drive back to the house around 3pm to freshen up and then drive about 10 minutes to Bath where there are lots of great places to eat. We drove to Freeport to visit LLbean which was about 45 minutes away. The pictures on the web site are what you get. There is a room with a TV and lots of DVD's which the kids used the one day it rained. The internet wifi was fast in the house. The kitchen was well supplied. My family had a great time and we hope to come again next year.

A positive experience all around!

  • 5 of 5

As I prepared to write this review, I asked my 10- and 12-year-olds what their favorite thing was about staying here. One said, "there's nothing to NOT like" and the other said, "everything!" Six of us gathered at the cottage for a week in July, and we were more than comfortable. (We also lucked out with absolutely PERFECT weather!)

The kitchen is generously stocked with everything you need to feel like you're cooking in your own home. The house was clean and also nicely sized--we could easily spread out and enjoy some quality quiet time, or all sit in the same room to enjoy each other's company. You definitely don't need to pack books, movies or games...there is a cabinet full of mind-stimulating and fun games for the whole family, and quite the remarkable collection of books and movies for all ages and interests.

And now the Realtor in me will talk about the "star of the show" -- the location -- you really can't beat the serene setting this house affords. There are several levels of decks and docks from which to enjoy the peaceful water views. This get-away was rare in that we didn't feel like we needed a vacation from our vacation...we all were truly able to relax and enjoy some much-needed down time.

When we did venture out, we found the small town and surrounding areas easy to navigate. We tired the kids out at the “Monkey C, Monkey Do” obstacle course and zip lines; marveled at Bath Iron Works; played miniature golf; and ate way too much ice cream. But the key reason we decided on Maine for our get-away was to satisfy our lobster craving…and we were not disappointed—we had delicious meals at Five Islands Lobster Co. and The Lobster House Restaurant.

Finally, I should mention that the owners were perfectly pleasant in our communications with them before, during, and after our stay. We would obviously recommend staying at this Brigham’s Cove cottage!

Fantastic Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic week at Brigham's Cove. It was hot so we swam daily off the dock. The water was very refreshing. We also did some kayaking off the dock. It was awesome seeing the Osprey nest at the head of the cove and the birds were often near the nest. The house has everything anyone could need and with Popham Beach close by, it's the perfect location for everyone in the family.

Amazing and breathtaking. My family and I just finished up a week long vacation that included our two children and my parents. 6 people in all and we lived together in peace and harmony thanks, in part, to the spacious living quarters and the beautiful scenery :) Naturally, I was a bit wary since this was our first foray into 'internet' vacation rentals but we are extremely pleased with the entire experience. The rental agent was prompt with responses and answered my many questions graciously. The house was perfect, right on the water and we were able to bring our small fishing boat and tie it to the floating dock. Tastefully decorated (love the provencal fabrics!!) with 2 full bathrooms and 4 ample bedrooms. A very large, open design kitchen, family room with a separate den perfect for the kiddies to watch TV and wind down after a long day. I must say, the kitchen was stocked with better quality implements than my own home. Furniture was modern, clean, and comfortable and the washer/dryer onsite was extremely helpful. It is a bit off the beaten path so be prepared for a short drive into town. It was quiet, restful with plenty to do to occupy my 10, 11 year old children.
