Disgusting and breach of promise

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

I will echo everything that Michelle M said. When my husband, son and I arrived the first week in August 2016, there was garbage in the loft, mold in the shower, broken slats in the floor of the outside shower and enough dirt under the beds to plant potatoes. The cottage was stifling hot and there was no way to shade the skylights. The satellite TV connection was sketchy at best and took about 15 minutes just to warm up. The kitchen was so dirty we decided we would never eat there and the place is so cluttered you can hardly move around. We called James Fiore, the owner, and after much discussion he promised to refund the full amount of our rental. That was six weeks ago. We have called him several times and he has hung up on us. He then sent us a check and promptly stopped payment when he saw Michelle M's bad review because he thought that was our review. We gave him another week to send a check after explaining and we received nothing. At one point he asked us "what kind of guy do you think I am that I wouldn't send back your money?" I guess now we know. Renter beware.

We have stayed all over the cape but this was by far our favorite. Very well maintained, clean property! With 3 kids there was plenty of room outside for play and toys. You cannot beat the price for the value of this home and property. The neighborhood is extremely private and this is a dead end so virtually no traffic which was great. Thanks!!

cute nastolgic cottage!

Exactly what we wanted! This cottage was just perfect and everything we expected. Very clean and quiet. Set on a private road, yet we were able to bike to Nauset Beach each day. Large yard where we were able to make a fire each night. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Hoping we are able to come again as a family next year to make this a tradition. Thank you to the owner for answering all of our questions initially as this was our first time renting a cottage at the Cape!

The cottage is located perfectly on a quiet private road. When I arrived the house was very dirty. There was dried old food stuck to the stove and cabinets. The coffee pot was dirty with old coffee grounds still in it. The microwave had old dried food stuck in it and the paint inside was peeling. The floors were covered with sand and dirt. The outside shower had broken foot boards, used soap, and dirty underwear on the floor. The house smelled like propane so we turned off the propane tank in fear of a leak. The beds had old ripped mattress pads so we had to go buy our own in order to sleep on the beds. No air conditioning in the house so it was sweltering hot to the point where we couldn't be there certain times of the day. I contacted the owner and told him about our problems. His answer was the propane tank was low and that's why it smelled. He didn't even address the dirty underwear or any of the other issues. I even sent him a picture of the dirty underwear!!! After trusting what he said, we turned the propane back on and lit the pilots on the stove and hot water heater and went to sleep. The next morning we came back in from having our coffee outside and realized the house was filled with propane again. I called an HVAC person and asked about the smell. He said that if the pilots were all lit there shouldn't be a smell and that there was something wrong. We decided that was the last straw. That morning we packed up and left. I contacted the owner again and told him we couldn't stay because of the propane smell. I asked him for a refund for our troubles and his answer was again that the smell was from the tank being low. He didn't even acknowledge the idea of a refund for the night we weren't staying there. Horrible experience!!! Would not recommend this cottage to anyone.
