Modern terrace in Broughton in Furness
The house was clean and well equipped, with comfortable furnishings and a small patio area with garden furniture, decorated with pretty pot plants. There were all the essentials for an relaxing stay. Children were well catered for, with a high chair, crockery and cutlery and toys and games. Tea, coffee, sugar and a packet of tasty shortbread were left for us, as well as washing up essentials - always useful! The information booklet contained useful information about Broughton and the Lakes area. Clearly some thought has gone into this cottage! Amanda gave us both essential and useful information before we arrived. Broughton itself is a quiet place but there is a shop/post office, a butchers and a greengrocers, which have a wide range of supplies. The award winning village bakery/cafe is a real bonus. The pubs all serve great food, except the Manor Arms, which is for serious ale drinkers! We enjoyed our stay and recommend 8 Copper Rigg if you want to be away from the crowds but within easy reach of the attractions of the Lake District.
Mid week visit
Great property very clean good location
Nice place to stay
We booked this place off chance. great for family and very well equipped.
Definitely Recommended and would stay again
Lovely little cottage
As a group of 4 adults we really enjoyed the stay and surrounding area.
We were lucky to have been here when Westmorland show was taking place and had a great day.
The only negative we found was that the sofa was uncomfomfotable for sitting on for any length of time.
Good decent sized house close to local amenities
Good base for exploring the Lake District
Perfect place for four
Stayed at Copper Ring with my husband, daughter and toddler. So helpful to have a nearly new travel cot and a good high chair as well as a selection of toys. Kitchen well equipped although no freezer which is worth mentioning for ice cream lovers like us! The whole place was clean and fresh and we loved Broughton. The Black Cock Inn was very welcoming and good food. We will be back Im sure. Thank you Amanda for all the good communication too.
Broughton-in-Furness is handily situated to explore the less frequented parts of the Lake District. Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man are but a half hour's drive away with museums and historic houses aplenty. Low level walks can be enjoyed such as around Tarn Hows or one in Broughton itself along a disused railway track. Cycling is also popular with a full set of mountain bike trails in nearby Grizedale Forest. The coast is close by with miles of beaches and dunes to explore, together with owl and wildlife sanctuaries.
In the summer, many villages put on local shows (Broughton's one is at the end of August). Here you will get to see Cumberland wrestling, fell racing, stick making, sheep shearing and many other rural activities and skills.
