About Natalie

Several years ago, my husband, Ken, and I spent a couple long weekend vacations in the Albrightsville area of the Poconos. At that time, we were vacation home renters ourselves and had a great time with the variety of things to do in the area, even on a budget! There are parks, beaches, hiking, rafting, boating, skiiing, great roads for motorcycle riding (if you are into that sort of thing) and so much more! A short while after this, we decided to purchase Twin Oaks to enjoy ourselves with friends and family, as well as, share with others. We visit the house regularly and spend much of our time there ensuring it is well maintained. We both work full time (I'm in Human Resources and Ken is in Construction) and live in Pennsylvania with our three cats: Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Rudie.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I just left the cabin and we are already planning on coming back back soon! What can I say? The house was spotless clean, warm, and spacious. The 12 of us slept comfortably every night. That's right. 12 of us. If you're looking for a great place to stay with your family, I highly recommend this place. 5 stars. 5

It was a amaizing time with my kids and grand kids, my grand kids wants to stay there for more time. They went snow tubbing, snowboarding and had the time of their life! They want me to buy that house!

Thank you Natalie! You were awesome from beginning to end! It was like you promised me!

Clean lake with a nice beach within minutes.

  • 5 of 5

A very clean rental home well-maintained with 4 large bedrooms, large kitchen, living room with a very large surrounding deck. Sits on an acre with many trees providing lots of shade, very pretty colors in the fall and a quiet surrounding year-round.

Convenient for water sports etc. and taking your skis out in the winter. Very nice resturants nearby, casino for fun and games with a dollar store in walking distance.

If you like a quiet place to relax and still have easy access to resturants and fun times, this rental is for you.

Stinky smells!

  • 1 of 5

My cousins and I were looking for a place to unwind and hang out for a summer weekend in July, and the biggest draw to this house was the price (it was very reasonable for everyone’s budget) and fun perks like a pool table, a grill, the lake and other community amenities. Natalie was a pleasure to deal with and she was very reliable over email. I had no issues booking the rental, paying, and having some general questions answered.

My family arrived to find large patches of mildew growing on the outside of the house, and after entering we found cobwebs looming throughout every room. Not a good start. Most notably, the worst part of this rental (and our entire vacation) was the dank smell inside. Because the windows and doors are kept locked and closed when the house is unoccupied, the air was thick and stale and rotten. We tried opening windows to air the place out, but the air just wouldn’t circulate and small holes in the window screens would invite moths and other insects. The bedding that was already in place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and it also had absorbed the funky smell (luckily we brought our own bedding).

There were also several disadvantages that could have been better tackled if we had known more details beforehand. For example, we knew there was no air conditioning, but the availability of only one floor fan (in the living room) and only one ceiling fan (in the kitchen) with the complete lack of ventilation and was very surprising. Also, we knew basic products were not provided (linens, hand soap, paper products, etc) so we brought what was listed in the information packet and anything else we could think of, but I wish we had known to bring some sort of water filtration (luckily we had brought water bottles with us).

I can fully attest that my family is a group of experienced and prepared travelers, but even with everything we could have done, nothing prepared us for the smell that permeated everything from our clothes to our hair to our luggage. We had booked for 3 nights but left after 2 nights because we just couldn’t stand the smell and were worried about the quality of the air and water. The house was neither messy nor disorderly, but it was definitely not well-maintained and it just seems like no one lives there or cares for it regularly. The Twin Oaks Chalet is not an alpine vacation home; It is a musty old house in the woods.

Owner's Response: Hello SC, I’m sorry & surprised to read this review. It’s disheartening to hear that you did not enjoy your vacation at my home. It’s also disheartening to read opinions stated as facts which are not true. I appreciate the note about my being a ‘pleasure’; it speaks to my credibility. You stayed at my home 2 months ago & never communicated any concerns to me; this is the first I’ve heard. 1. There are no patches of mold outside the house. It’s in the woods subject to the elements 24/7. We power wash the exterior a couple times a year. 2. The house is professionally cleaned between each rental. We spray for insects as a precaution. Had you called me while there, I’d have had my cleaner go there to knock down any alleged cobwebs. 3. Multiple guests stayed shortly before & after you & left 5-star reviews on another website. Obviously, none of them experienced a funky smell. My family & I were at the house for Labor Day weekend & found no funky odor either. Perhaps it was more humid than usual when you were there. As a precaution, we keep a dehumidifier on the lower level. I just shampooed the carpets, so perhaps they were due for a cleaning at the time your stay. My apologies if that was the problem. 4. There are no tears in the window screens that let bugs in. There are three fans. Perhaps one of them was hiding in a closet. Guests may bring their own extra fans if they like. It’s typically cooler at the house most of the year. 5. Linens are not provided. All guests receive thorough welcome information prior to their stay, which includes suggested items to bring, such as bedding. The house is cleaned, beds are disinfected & blankets are washed. 6. The house has well water & the quality is fine. It may taste different from public city water. Some may not be accustomed to this & may supply their own bottled water. 7. We take pride in maintaining the house for our guests & ourselves. In fact, my husband & I are remodeling the entire kitchen this month. It’s professionally cleaned b/n each rental, we go to the house monthly for maintenance & are considerate of our guests' feedback. No one lives there; it is not a hotel; we do not have staff. Our ads describe the house well as having 'rustic appeal', ‘wooded lot' & 'on a budget', to name a few. We’ve had many guests enjoy their stay during the 7 yrs that I’ve owned & managed Twin Oaks; I am truly sorry that you were not one of them. Sincerely, Natalie

I would highly recommend staying at Twin Oaks Chalet. I stayed at the house a couple of years ago and had a great time. The house was cozy, clean and well maintained. Being an outdoor/nature lover, I found that the location of the house was in close proximity to a lot of fun outdoor activities. I would definitely stay again!

Twin Oaks Chalet

Our stay at this cozy and quaint vacation home was very enjoyable.

It was well maintained, clean and very convenient to many popular attractions.

We loved visiting the Historic town of JIm Thorpe, Bushkill Falls, the Casino, the Outlets, Beltzville Park and especially loved those relaxing days just laying on the beach.

I would definitely recommend this comfy vacation home and plan to book another vacation there.
