Townhome, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths, (Sleeps 6)
This spacious, quiet and affordable townhouse gives you easy access to everything else that makes Whitefish and northwestern Montana so special.
City zoning prohibits vacation rentals in most neighborhoods in Whitefish, so this beautiful townhouse is one of the few vacation rentals within the city limits; most are miles from downtown and its famous restaurants and shopping.
in a peaceful neighborhood away from noisy railroad tracks and arterial streets, you can walk to our historic downtown (0.8 mile) or to City Beach on famous Whitefish Lake (0.9 mile) or take short drives (2 miles) to the golf course. In addition, it's only 25 miles to Glacier Park and even less to Flathead Lake and the airport.
With a view of Big Mountain, the townhouse (1,683 sq. ft.), we set up our townhouse with family vacations in mind with one master bedroom (queen) downstairs and two bedrooms (queen and two twins) upstairs. The attached two-car garage (rare for vacation rentals) prevents parking hassles--and no frost scrapping or snow shoveling on winter mornings.
In winter, it's a short drive (6 miles) to Whitefish Mountain Resort and the world-famous skiing on Big Mountain. Instead staying up on the mountain or driving the often icy Big Mountain Road and fighting for a parking spot when you stay in our townhouse and take the free Snow bus which leaves from the Stumptown Ice Den (two blocks from our back door) up to the resort. Or if you like traditional Nordic or skate skiing, you can enjoy the beautifully groomed trails right in Whitefish at the golf course or on the Whitefish Mountain ski trails.
We also set up our vacation home for travelers who have a little business to do along the way or business people on an extended trip who prefer a pleasant alternative to hotel rooms. The loft has a fully equipped computer station with WiFi along with a 40-inch, flat-screen with satellite TV and DVD player. Montana has cell phone dead zones, but not in this townhouse. With the skyrocketing hotel rates in the Whitefish area, a family, two or three couples, or business travelers can stay here in comfort, quietly, for half the price--or less.
Also, the owners have lived in the area for fifty years and know it well, so if you have any questions, we’ll do the best we can to answer them for you.
PERSONAL PET PEEVE: We travel a lot, and frequently stay in vacation rentals. One thing that drives us crazy is paying $200+ per night and immediately having to go out and buy paper towels, toilet paper, dishwater soap, detergent, garbage bags, Kleenex. hand soap and other essentials. When we check in and see one roll of TP, we only think cheap, cheap, cheap. So, we do the opposite with my vacation rental. We try to have good supplies of all of the above for you.
ONLINE BOOKING. You can conveniently book online, but we’re active travelers, sometimes traveling to places with no cell or online service, so in some cases, we might not be able to respond or accept your online booking within the required 24-hour period, even though we’d welcome it. If your booking is declined because of non-response by us, please give us a few more days to get online and accept your booking. We’ll call or email immediately and accept your booking if we see it has been declined. Or you can simply re-book a few days later and we will accept it asap.
TERMS: Many vacation rentals require full payment upfront, but we find that unreasonable. Our terms are 25 percent upon signing with the remainder (including security deposit, cleaning fee and taxes) due 30 days in advance of arrival, all refundable with the exception of a $100 cancellation fee.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES: A refundable security deposit of $300, non-refundable cleaning deposit of $100, and taxes (7 percent Montana accommodations tax and 3 percent local resort tax).

About Bill Schneider
Our family has lived in Montana for 45 years, and we recently purchased and completely furnished this townhouse, mainly to spend more time with our son and daughter-in-law who live and work in Whitefish and our two beautiful grandchildren.
Bill Schneider purchased this Townhome in 2005
Why Bill Schneider chose Whitefish
We find it so much nicer to stay right in town instead of in outlying areas. We can walk or bicycle conveniently around town instead of driving, and when we want to ski, we take the free Snow Bus up to the resort. We also enjoy the quiet residential neighborhood. Having rented vacation homes a lot in our travels, we find most of them are in fairly busy, noisy areas, but not our townhouse. In any case, we stay here a lot and enjoy every minute of it. You will, too.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Spacious and supplied with everything we needed. Having a full-sized washer and dryer was awesome. The location was centrally located, just a short drive to Whitefish lake, Glacier Park, and Flathead Lake. Very clean, though the rapid rental turnover rate showed a little in some places. No air conditioning, which probably isn't needed most of the time, but during our stay it was 90 plus degrees, so it would have been nice. All in all, a great place to spend our family vacation!
Family of 5
I agree with the other review mentioning that the pictures do not do it justice. All in all, better than we were expecting. Worked out well for us with a large garage to park our bikes in along side our van. Has a main floor bedroom for anyone who does not want stairs all the time. Nice and bright in a nice neighborhood. Short bike ride to downtown or the beach. Would have liked to have darker window coverings in the bedrooms. Owner (Bill) was good to work with an willing to take the time to answer any questions etc. Very likely to stay here again next time we're in town.
We stayed at this house during our Christmas vacation. We loved it! The house is in the perfect location to everything. The house was completely stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of room for 2 families with 2 teenagers . We would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to visit the Whitefish area. Loved the garage during the cold weather.
I am new to VRBO and I am extremely happy with how easy it was. This place was perfect for my family of 6. Pictures did not do it justice, it's much much bigger then it appears. I have three daughters and one son and the sleeping accommodations worked perfect. Kitchen was fully equipped along with both bathrooms. Extra bedding too, and to top it off a garage to park my car. Perfect location for visiting downtown and not to far from the ski hill. Thanks to Bill for making this an easy holiday for my family. Definitely high recommendations and look forward to staying here again.
Great vacation spot
We stayed here for a family wedding and had a great time. The location was perfect as it was close to town for dining and shopping. The owner provided information on local restaurants and information guides to the area. The home is clean comfortably and well equipped. We would definitely stay here again.
Nice Property Great location
Our family of four including two teenage boys stayed the last week of June. This property is bigger than it appears in the photos and is perfect for families. The landscaping and the surrounding houses are nice. We enjoyed neighborhood walks each evening and saw several deer and a variety of birds. It is convenient to town and just down the road from Big Mountain. Bill was easy to work with and helpful. We loved our stay and will stay here again the next time we come to Whitefish.
We did the hike/raft combo through Glacier Guides (Montana Raft Co) and it was a perfect taste of both activities. Hiked to Avalanche Lake in the West portion of GNP and hiked to Virginia Falls in the East portion. Highly recommend both trails. Spent the day on top of Big Mountain watching the World Cup and enjoying the view. Dinner at The Boat Club was a nice setting and just down the road.
Ice skating, hockey and curling. A wonderful indoor ice rink, the Stumptown Ice Den, is right next door.
