City zoning prohibits vacation rentals in most neighborhoods in Whitefish, so this beautiful townhouse is one of the few vacation rentals within the city limits; most are miles from downtown and its famous restaurants and shopping.
Located in a peaceful neighborhood away from noisy railroad tracks and arterial streets, you can walk to our historic downtown (0.8 mile) or to City Beach on famous Whitefish Lake (0.9 mile) or take short drives (2 miles) to the golf course. In addition, it's only 25 miles to Glacier Park and even less to Flathead Lake and the airport.
With a nice view of Big Mountain, the townhouse (1,683 sq. ft.) has been recently re-furnished. We set it up with family vacations in mind with one master bedroom (queen) downstairs and two bedrooms (queen and two twins) upstairs. The attached two-car garage (rare for vacation rentals) prevents parking hassles--and no frost scrapping or snow shoveling on winter mornings.
In winter, it's a short drive (6 miles) to Whitefish Mountain Resort and the world-famous skiing on Big Mountain. Instead staying up on the mountain or driving the often icy Big Mountain Road and fighting for a parking spot when you stay in our townhouse and take the free Snow bus, which leaves from the Stumptown Ice Den (2 blocks from our back door) up to the resort. Or if you like traditional Nordic or skate skiing, you can enjoy the beautifully groomed trails right in Whitefish at the golf course, about two miles from our place.
We also set up our vacation home for travelers who have a little business to do along the way or business people on an extended trip who prefer a pleasant alternative to hotel rooms. The loft has a fully equipped computer station with WiFi along with a 40-inch, flat-screen with satellite TV and DVD player. Montana has cell phone dead zones, but not in this townhouse. With the skyrocketing hotel rates in the Whitefish area, a family, two or three couples, or business travelers can stay here in comfort, quietly, for half the price--or less.
Additional charges: A refundable security deposit of $250, non-refundable cleaning deposit of $90, and taxes (7 percent Montana accommodations tax and 3 percent local resort tax).
Important note on terms: Many vacation rentals require full payment upfront, but we find that unreasonable. Our terms are 25 percent upon signing with the remainder (including security deposit, cleaning fee and taxes) due 30 days in advance of arrival, all refundable with the exception of a $100 cancellation fee. We prefer personal checks or money orders in US dollars, but we can accept Canadian dollars at the current exchange rate and we can arrange for payment via credit cards.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON ONLINE BOOKING. You can conveniently book online, but I am an active traveler, sometimes traveling to places with no cell or online service, so in some cases, I might not be able to respond (accept your booking) your online booking within the required 24-hour period, even though I’d welcome your booking. If VRBO declines because of non-response by me, please give me a few more days to get online and accept your booking. I will call or email immediately and accept your booking if I see VRBO declined it.
CHEAPER THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY. If you would like to avoid, the VRBO online booking fee (about 6 percent), you can email me and I will do the booking directly and avoid that fee.

About the owner: Our family has lived in Montana for 45 years, and we recently purchased and completely furnished this townhouse, mainly to spend more time with our son and daughter-in-law who live and work in Whitefish and our two beautiful grandchildren.
Why the Owner Chose Whitefish, MT, USA:
We find it so much nicer to stay right in town instead of in outlying areas. We can walk or bicycle conveniently around town instead of driving, and when we want to ski, we take the free Snow Bus up to the resort. We also enjoy the quiet residential neighborhood. Having rented vacation homes a lot in our travels, we find most of them are in fairly busy, noisy areas, but not our townhouse. In any case, we stay here a lot and enjoy every minute of it.
