This wonderful 1960’s cottage at Lake Wentworth on Fernald’s Basin only two miles from downtown Wolfeboro is a perfect family getaway. This cottage is one of the few remaining pieces of the historic Alan A Albee resort, a popular dude ranch from the mid 1900s.
You can step out along the Cotton Valley Railroad which is now a walking and biking trail that takes you to downtown Wolfeboro to enjoy all it has to offer. Nearby museums also offer a wonderful learning experience. You can enjoy many local beaches such as Albee Beach or a new athletic field and playgrounds and always take in the many shops and restaurants.
Enjoy quality time without worrying about the cost!

This response is untimely but wanted to respond to the comment made about leeches in the lake. This is completely untrue. I have owned this cottage for 10 years and my 4 small children have gone swimming in these waters their entire life. The guest was used to swimming in chlorine pools and not lakes. Also, the comment cleanliness is completely untrue and recommend this guest stay at a 5 star hotel.
My family and I stayed at this lake house for 10 nights. Wonderful experience. Watched the sunrise over the lake while sitting on the breakfast nook with my cup of coffee each morning. Boys took the canoe out daily. Thank you!
we were a bit disappointed, not by the cabin itself, which was accurately described and which we looked at prior to our week. we were disappointed that we were not told about leeches in the pond and that the cabin was not very clean when we arrived. I think if I owned a cabin and rented it out, I would take the time to vacuum, sweep away cobwebs, clean the tables (the table runner in the kitchen actually had food on it...). Also, there was indeed a VCR and DVD player, but the TV connected to the VCR player is on its last legs. We enjoyed the proximity to Albee Beach and we enjoyed hearing loons and watching what might have been an otter frolicking in the pond, and we enjoyed kayaking over the quiet waters. The kitchen and the unscreened deck have the best views of the lake, which you cannot see from the living room.
