The Bluff House is perched on a dune overlooking Bluffton Bay and Muskegon Lake, on a peninsula between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. The Bluffton area has a fascinating history and is a safe, friendly place to stay. It’s a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes and forests. One can let their creative juices flow, or enjoy the work of several resident artists at local galleries in Lakeside and Muskegon. The view from the Bluff House is its finest point – 180 degree view of Bluffton Bay and Muskegon Lake. There is a large deck in the front and a small screened patio in the back. You can sit in the living room and enjoy the lake view or enjoy the surrounding trees and shrubs in the back. It’s a very secluded environment, yet it’s still in the city with all the activities an urban area entails. The Muskegon Yacht Club is directly across the street and the skippers are always looking for crew on Wednesday nights.

There are a variety of ways to get to The Bluff House. One can arrive by car, utilizing the highways a few miles away. There is also the cross lake ferry which has three runs a day between Muskegon and Milwaukee just down the street a mile or two. One could ride their bike to the the ferry, spend day in Milwaukee and take the Ferry back, and rids their bikes to The Bluff House. The Bluff House is within 2 miles of the Ferry and 20 minutes of Michigan Adventure. There are many beautiful bike trails along Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake along the dunes and through wetlands. If you are a member of another yacht club, you could come by boat, dock at the Muskegon Yacht Club, and utilize the facilities such as the bar, restaurant, and pool. Your boat will be visible from the deck of The Bluff House.

The Bluff House provides WIFI for internet and Dish network for satlite cable. The house has Air conditioning. The cable includes full sport and premium channels for your enjoyment

The Bluff House is located across the street from Muskegon Lake and the Muskegon Yacht Club. Lake Michigan is a short 1/4 mile walk or bike ride away. There are numerous bike paths, state park hiking, sailing, charter fishing, sandy beaches for swimming and sunning. Two water parks are a 15 minute drive away. There are the usual museums, parks, Party in the Park Fridays, and several festivals to experience. Best of all - four ice cream parlors with gourmet products are 1/2 mile away. Personally, sitting on the deck with a beverage and a book, enjoying the view every now and then, is the best way to utilize The Bluff House. Fishing charter boats are 2 minutes away from the house

Other Activities: Free WIFI and Direct TV.

Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

We took our first family vacation and loved our stay at the bluff house. It's hard to get away from our farm and traveling with a 5, almost 4, almost 3 and almost 2 year old. We had plenty of room for the kids to be kids, they loved the baby deer that laid outside the bathroom window. We enjoyed watching the boats and had a fire and made s'mores. Really appreciated having a kitchen and washer and dryer. The beach was close and we enjoyed the mac woods dune buggy ride. Everything was very clean and Sid was very attentive to make sure we had everything we needed and was SUPER accommodating.

Would've loved to had a hot tub on the screened in porch with the fire going. Only complaint is the steep steep driveway. We would 100% stay here again. Thanks Sid :)

Fantastic Gem

  • 5 of 5

Great retro-vibe lake house with everything perfectly matching owner's descriptions. View of lake was spectacular whether watching with coffee on the deck or sitting inside looking out massive window. Family loved using provided bikes on trails near house and taking the kayaks just across the street and into the lake. Beach was literally a couple minutes away at beautiful Pere Marquette Park. Owner was friendly, communicative, and helpful. My family of four had a great time.

Fantastic Views

  • 3 of 5

This 1950 stylish house has spectacular views of Muskegon Lake, which can be enjoyed from the large front deck. It has a steep driveway so parking is on the street, but the owner even left parking passes to use if needed, which they weren’t. Two of the guests used the kayaks that were available and took the provided bikes on a ride around to Pere Marquette beach. The beds were comfortable and the house was mainly clean except for a few cobwebs here and there.

Our main complaint would be the musty, mildew smell. Since a couple of the guests have allergies and asthma we were afraid this would be an issue. Our suggestion would be to take the shag carpet out and put in vinyl, laminate, etc. for the floors, especially in the bathrooms.

It’s a cute cottage type house with extremely helpful owners, and again you can’t beat the views from the picture window. We could even see the fireworks across the lake on the fourth of July.

Owner's Response: From day one I can sense that some customers are just hard to satisfy. This tenant complained about everything. She complained about the key pad for remote garage door opener does not work. I was able to use it fine with no issue. To avoid any further complaints, I installed brand new one. Then she complained about the wifi does not work. The information for the site code is in the house information and it works fine. We live on the lake, the body of water will create humidity inside the house. The dehumidifier is working around the clock to avoid the musty smell. If she turned the dehumidifier off while they are staying in the house that will cause the issue. The house has central air. You can totally get rid off any humidity by turning on the AC. The carpet she is complaining about is less than 5 years old. The steep driveway is right on the house description. The great view for the house on Muskegon lake because of being on bluff. We live on the dunes and there are insects. I live next door we make sure the house is sprayed for insects periodically.

Great Place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay at the Bluff House, it definitely lives up to its name, sitting high above many of the other houses, it has a great view of Lake Muskegon. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of pots, pans, utensils, electric stove and outdoor propane grill. The three bedrooms and futon in the living room, provided plenty of space for 5. There is a deck in front and back both equiped with outdoor chairs. The owner, Sid, was great offering up kayaks, bikes, and extensive knowledge and recommendations on area entertainment.
