Space 4,000 sq ft
Property type lodge
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

About the property

Large Lodge, 2 large sleeping lofts, modern kitchen & Men & Women bathrooms

This historic rustic lodge was built as a log structure by the Wasatch Mt. Club in 1929 as the Club headquarters and mountain center for overnight stays and adventures in the mountains. This building represents the start of skiing in Big & Little Cottonwood Canyons. The lodge has beds to accommodate up to 20 people and we provide beds with mattresses, cover, but no bedding. Guests must provide their own pillows, bedding or sleeping bag. The main floor of the lodge can accommodate parties up to 100 persons such as wedding, family reunions, meetings or large gatherings. Ideal for large gatherings, parties, reception, family reunions, winter ski trips for small to medium groups. Wood fireplace. Outdoor patio with tables and chairs and barbecue area available in the Summer. The lodge has folding banquet tables and folding chairs for approximately 85 people.

SUMMER - dirt road leading to the lodge from the Brighton Parking lot.

WINTER - no motorized access to the lodge because the lodge is within the Brighton ski slopes. All user must transport their belongings and food to the lodge by either carrying them or using the sleds and toboggan provided by the Lodge.

The building is heated by a combination of hot water heating, a force air furnace in the main building and the fireplace. This a 'true rustic experience' with a few modern features thrown in.

The Lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Place and is owned and operated by the Wasatch Mountain Club Foundation, a nonprofit, charitable 501 (C)(3) organization. 100% of the rental fees you pay go for preservation and maintenance of this building.

About Robert Myers

I am a lifetime member of the Wasatch Mountain Club (WMC) and participated in the formation of the WMC Foundation in 2010. We are the Wasatch Mountain Club Foundation. The WMC Foundation is a charitable 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization which owns and operate the Wasatch Mountain Lodge.

Robert Myers purchased this lodge in 1929

Why Robert Myers chose Brighton

If you are looking for a 'rustic stay' in one of the very few original log structures built in the Brighton area, you have found it. The lodge was built in 1929 and has had a few modern updates over time, such as flushing toilets, hot showers, potable safe mountain water, modern kitchen, hot water & forced air heating systems.

What makes this lodge unique

The lodge is located right in the Brighton skiing terrain, a short 300 ft. out of the Brighton parking lot, so you can ski-in and out during the winter month. In the summer you will find abundant wildlife, as we are located above the base facilities in the trees. At the back of the lodge you will find a large patio and barbeque area with picnic tables. We are located short distance from the hiking trail heads, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and mountain biking.

Great stay once again at the Wasatch Mountain Club Lodge

  • 4 of 5

We love this place. Great atmosphere for our outing. Super clean and ready to roll when we arrived. Ski in/Ski out. Plenty of firewood to keep us toasty warm. We absolutely love staying at this place for our bi-annual training. Todd made sure to keep us stocked with what we need and the event went off without a hitch. Thanks WMC!!!!

Great week at WMC lodge

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 13 adults had a great week skiing at WMC lodge. Participants were used to bunk-style lodging and we organized meal teams for cooking and cleaning up. The 100 yd walk uphill at elevation was more taxing for those arriving from sea level, but we were rewarded with ski-in/out lodging. This lodging isn't for everyone and I like that. There are quirky things associated with an historic lodge and one needs to accept limitations and work-arounds. The location is great and good for group interactions and dynamics.

Daughter's Rustic wedding.

  • 5 of 5

Wasatch Mountian Lodge was perfect for my daughter's rustic wedding. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were great. We decarated it with many Christmas lights inside and it looked awesome! We made birch poles to run down the isle outside to the wedding arch for the ceremony with patio lights. The fire place was awesome to have going during the reception. Upstairs where you slept was great! We had a shuttle service to take the guests up to the Lodge from the Brighton parking lot. We had our own Caterer and the kitchen was perfect. When we first booked the lodge for the wedding we had it for one night and not being able to check in till 1:00 and the ceremony was at 5:00 we decided to rent it for two nights so we had plenty of time to decorate the day before the wedding and we really enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace that night before the wedding. All in all it was perfect even to have a family party. We would highly recommend!

Perfect rustic wedding getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This historic lodge surrounded by forest and majestic views was the most dreamy setting for our wedding. There are 3 choices for ceremony spots - in the trees, on the patio, or in the main room of the lodge. All are gorgeous. Our ceremony was on the patio surrounded by trees with the sound of water rushing through the creek behind. Dinner and entertainment were inside. So many perfect photo opportunities in the trees! Also, the wedding party slept at the lodge the night before and the night of. It was such a special escape from day-to-day life. The lodge had everything we needed and the weekend was even more magical than I imagined.
