Popponesset is a wonderful family neighborhood where generations have summered. A 5 minute walk brings you to the private beach known as the 'spit' (a sandy peninsula) with the bay beach on one side and the ocean beach on the other. The community center is a haven for kids (playground, ball fields, rainy day activities, etc.) and is only about 75 yards away. On the other side of the neighborhood is the marketplace with casual dining, live entertainment, mini golf, bike rentals, shops, general store, raw bar, etc., and just across the street from there is the Popponesset Inn for waterfront casual or fine dining. There's also a pond within walking distance for freshwater fishing. Just 3 miles away is the Cape's favorite shopping destination the Mashpee Commons. Here you'll find popular shops, restaurants, movie theater, pub, wine bar, Starbucks, etc. A public boat ramp, golf, island ferries, etc., are all close by.
Golf: There are an abundance of great public access golf courses on this section of the Cape. The early Spring or Fall seasons are a great time of year to golf on the Cape without the Summer crowd and still enjoy everything else the Cape has to offer.
Fishing: Not only can you take just a short walk to the beach for some surf casting or the fresh water pond for bass, etc., there is a public boat ramp just a couple miles from the house. Fall is a great time of year for bluefishing from the shore or the 'spit' (bay on one side, ocean on the other).
We gladly accommodate the 'boys only' fishing or golf trip or you can bring the family too.
