Why Mitzi chose Estes Park

Scenery and Serenity! Wildlife and wild flowers abound. If you want a get-a-way from the rat race and the noise of the city you have just found the perfect place - it doesn't get better than this! We are only minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park, yet only minutes from downtown Estes and all the shops and restaurants.

What makes this cabin unique

We are a legally licensed vacation rental home in Estes Park. We are legally required to collect and pay sales tax to the state of Colorado. However, since our property is located just outside the city limits of Estes Park, we are not required to collect and pay the Estes Park city sales tax, only the state of Colorado sales tax. This will save you money for a meal at one of many restaurants.

Just rockin’ in the Rockies!

VRBO Bear stayed here

Mar 3, 2009

Upon my arrival to this gorgeous Estes mountain log home, I was stunned by its beauty. There were many trees surrounding the home and a handy stone walkway to the stairs which led to the front door. I made my way inside to find that the interior was just as wonderful as the exterior! I was greeted by a hanging antler chandelier in the dining room and an enormous moose head looking right at me from above the fireplace in the living room. The hardwood floors and vaulted wood ceilings were simply spectacular. Everything I needed was conveniently on the main floor: the spacious kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace and TV (complete with cable and a surround sound system), bedrooms, bathroom and even a hot tub! The loft on the upper level had a stunning view of the Rocky Mountains and I enjoyed waking up to the scenic views each and every morning. Of course, you can’t go to Estes Park without doing a little souvenir shopping. This home was perfectly situated 5-10 minutes from the excitement of downtown. Being the busy bear that I am, I needed to work while on vacation but it was no problem at all since the home had free wireless high speed Internet. After I got my work done, I relaxed by dipping my furry feet into the hot tub. This was one weekend away I’ll never forget and I hope to make it back up the mountain again soon! The VRBO Bear

A Sweet Blessing!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our 14 year old neice, and I enjoyed a beautiful week at Moose Mountain Lodge, May 31st - June 5, 2011. We have booked vacation homes through VRBO several times and have always been pleased, but Moose Mountain was among the BEST we've rented!

Our top priority when booking was "the view", and we were not disappointed - it was spectacular! The first evening we sat in the hot-tub on the back deck and watched a glorious sunset over the snow-capped mountain range. As we were getting out of the hottub just after dark, my neice spotted an owl in the top of a pine tree, "welcoming" us to Moose Mountain. That was the first of our wildlife viewing for the week. The next morning, we were thrilled to wake up and look out the wall of windows to see the mountains and watch deer grazing in the yard.

This home was immaculately clean when we arrived and obviously very well maintained. It is very well appointed with everything we needed for cooking some meals, doing laundry, watching movies, playing games, and of course, the hottub, as I mentioned! The location was ideal for our needs. We loved being "out" enough to have a view, but also the convenience of being able to run into town within a matter of minutes for restaurants and shopping. Rocky Mountain National Park is just a short drive (maybe 20 minutes?) away.

Just the three of us had way more than enough room in this house! We could have chosen a smaller home, but the ammenities at Moose Mountain were just what we were looking for and we're so glad we chose it.

We checked out on Sunday morning and had a two and 1/2 day drive back to Ohio. The day after we got home, we had our security deposit back in the mail! That impressed us!

Thanks, Randy and Mitzi, for sharing your beautiful mountain retreat with us - it's surely a blessing too sweet to keep to yourselves!

Perfect place for us!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 10 days at Moose Mountain Lodge and we loved it! This is our third trip to Estes Park and we finally found the best place to stay. The house is comfortable and well appointed, and is located just outside of town. Mule deer in the yard every day and a herd of elk right out the window one morning.

We got 7 inches of snow one night but we were still able to drive out of the neighborhood easily. Randy and Mitzi checked on us periodically just to make sure we were having the best stay possible. The kids loved the ping pong table downstairs and I loved the reclining sofa. This is a great place to relax after a day of hiking or downtown shopping. Next time we come back, we will be staying here!

Beautiful and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We love it. Arriving and seeing the rockers and a swing on the poruch was great. The home is beautiful and very cozy. We really enjoyed the fire place. The bedrooms/restrooms where nice and clean. My husband and I stayed up in the Loft and it was very cozy. We spent a lot of our time at the kitchen table playing games, sooo much fun. The kitchen area was great, everything you think you need for cooking was their. Pots, pans and glassware and great touch with complementary Wine. We grilled a couple of days and spent time in the hot tub, which was so relaxing. And just looking at the beauty that surrounds you was great. We really enjoyed how close we where to the town and enjoyed shopping and the Elk Feast. I have to say, what really topped it off for me and my family was seeing the Deer and Elk all over. Something else that I thought was totally cool, was the quest book where you write about your stay and what you enjoyed. A great touch to make it homely. The Owners where great to work with, they always responded back in a timely manner. I would recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Wonderful

  • 4 of 5

The weather wasn't stellar but the Moose Mt. Lodge was. Immaculate, charming, livable and, best of all, a ping pong table downstairs where a friendly family competition can take place after a long hike in Rocky Mt. National Park.

A Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from 12 nights at this cabin and we have had a very restful time. The cabin is lovely and has all the amenities you need. Its location is lovely and the wildlife we have seen on a regular basis are great. Its not far from the centre of Estes Park and an easy drive but would suggest walking maybe a bit to far to go. The property has four big beds the fourth of which is down in a basement which is not yet finished and the lighting is yet to be sorted. We would love to have had enough seating for the six of us to be able to sit together outside and maybe sit and eat but that option is not available. There is no outdoor table and chairs so to use the barbeque you would need to eat inside. I have to say the one problem we did encounter I emailed the owners and they rectified very quickly. There is a lovely dining area that seats eight people however the lounge area can only comfortably seat 5 so if you are wanting to congregate in the evenings together it would have to be around the table. However don't let that detract you from staying as we really had a lovely time and would stay there again if we were in the area. We did struggle with our breathing which is in no way a reflection of the cabin but the altitude it was at. We all found breathing a lot harder whilst in Estes Park which is apparently to do with the weather/altitude combined so if someone in your party is asthmatic or already has breathing problems you may need to think

about staying somewhere further away from Estes Park.

Owner's Response: For future guests, we only advertise three bedrooms. The basement does have a bed that guests can use but it is not a finished bedroom. However, we also have a 3/4 bathroom conveniently adjacent to the sleeping area. The elevation of Estes Park is 7,500'. The elevation of the cabin is about 7,900'.

You will not be disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

Our priority was finding a place with a view and a "cabin feel," and this was exactly what we wanted. Pride of ownership is evident in all the little details; expenses aren't spared just because this is a vacation home (e.g., stainless steel appliances, beautiful decor, etc.). And, the entire place was incredibly clean. The hot tub was a wonderful bonus and easy to use. As it says in the description, the upstairs room is a loft, which means you can hear noise from downstairs, so just be prepared (we used white noise). The location is great--not too far from town but not in the middle of it all, so we got the mountain quiet we were looking for. The owners are incredibly responsive. We loved everything about this place, and we are already talking about returning next year!
