Our names are Bill & Tricia Meier and we are the proud owners of these beautiful Cowlitz River Cabins & Tipi. Each is named appropriately, starting with the RAINIER LOG HOUSE, THE ADAMS CHALET, THE ST HELEN’S COTTAGE. And last but not least is our beautiful TATOOSH TIPI. As far back as our dating years, we had dreamed of moving out of the city of Olympia and building a log house somewhere high in a mountainous area. About 10 years ago, we got serious and started our search throughout Washington and Oregon for land that would be just the right fit for us. Within a year we stumbled onto this piece of ground and it was love at first site. Finding these 8 acres of land was the beginning of making our dreams come true. Within 2-years of our purchase, we packed up our belongings and moved out to our 8 acre piece of Packwood Heaven.
Why John chose Randle
The first of our cabins to be built was the Rainier Log House. Our plan had always been to purchase a log house kit, but Bill decided he desired an AUTHENTIC log house and he wanted to master the construction himself from top to bottom. So after purchasing a used boom truck and enough logs from a neighbor logging who was logging his property, Bill was on his way. The Rainier Log House was his first masterpiece. Next came THE ST. HELENS COTTAGE and THE MT. ADAMS CHALET soon followed. Then about a year ago, we decided to offer our guest another unique experience by erecting an authentic 22' Tipi complete with all the comforts of home. It has all been an adventurous labor of love. We hope, whichever of our beauties you choose, you will make memories to last forever.

What a great getaway!
We chose this wonderful cabin for our 40th anniversary trip and were not disappointed. The cabin is awesome. The workmanship in the cabin is fantastic. Beautiful use of some very wide planks. Made great use of the grill and hot tub especially after days of hiking in the park. Loved being able to walk to the river. One night around 7:30 I spotted a pair of mature elk. I"m sure more frequent the area. I saw lot of tracks nearby. Also, the next morning, while eating breakfast on the deck, I spotted a bald eagle gliding by. Hated to leave. The only suggestions to the owner is to upgrade the mattress (not bad just could be better). Also, the icemaker was not operational. Both minor. And access to the garden is great! Highly recommend this cabin.
Would love to see some nice outdoor furniture for the deck
We are going to remodel the front section of the cabin and deck facing the River in the Fall and will definitely look into some outdoor furniture to go with our new rail design.
We loved our stay, to say the least. The host is very kind and helpful. The house was spotless and comfortable and we made good use of the hot tub and bbq! The location is incredible.. stunning view of the mountains and easy access to the surrounding Cascades. Packwood is very cute, Randle is conveniently close. Thanks, John!
It was great meeting you and the Family. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you come back to kayak the Cowlitz River.
Perfect mountain cabin getaway for a family!
If only all getaways could be like this! We truly could not have asked for a better stay. The cabin was immaculate, had all the space we needed, and was very well-equipped and appointed.
But the true gem here was the outdoor space. We enjoyed drinking coffee on the back porch while looking over a beautiful forest vista. We enjoyed using the fire pit to build campfires each night we were there, and the playground set was a delightful diversion for our preschooler - when he wasn't exploring the trail leading to the river, looking at the vegetable garden, or playing hide and seek among the trees. We also appreciated that it was an easy drive to Mount Rainier NP, which was the main reason we were looking for a place in that area to begin with.
We have stayed in several cabins during mountain/forest vacations over the past few years, and the Rainier cabin really ranks among the very best of them. Our only regret is that we did not book a longer stay. The next time we are in the area, we will stay here, and now know enough to tack on a few more days!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rainier Cabin. Our visit to Washington state included many stops. This was by far our favorite place. The cabin is secluded, quiet, and very clean. It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The craftsmanship of the cabin was fabulous and the grounds around the cabin were beautifully landscaped. We had a wonderful time here.
Thank you Teresa! I'm glad we could be a part of your visit to Washington State.
