Eric and I (Melanie) purchased our vacation rental in 2013. I was born on beautiful PEI and Eric was born in NB. This is our second time purchasing a cottage in PEI. Eric and I absolutely love every minute we get to spend on the island with our friends and family. We're thrilled that we're able to share an Island Escape with new and existing clients.
Melanie purchased this cottage in 2013
We chose PEI for our vacation rental so we could return home to visit family and friends and of course PEI has some of the most beautiful beaches and golf courses. Our family is a great help running the property in the summer. Murphy's Lawn and property care ensures the yard looks spectacular and that the pool is clean and chemical levels are acceptable.
Donna, is our property manager and she ensures the house is clean and exceeds expectations. She is always there to greet the guests upon arrival and because I live so far away she helps in more ways than I could list here. She is a wonderful property manager and is always there to help the guests with anything they may need. She always goes above and beyond.
We have numerous return rentals that refer to the cottage as 'their' second home. That is our intention to make everyone feel relaxed and comfortable and enjoy their stay. We want our guests to experience a feeling as if “An Island Escape” is their very own getaway home.
The cottage is located in a very peaceful area and we love the views and enjoying the pool with the spectacular views. For us when we are in Ontario we always feel so rushed and busy. When we vacation to PEI life takes a complete turn for the better. We are relaxed and enjoy the freedom to decide daily if we should relax by the pool or go golfing. There is no better feeling.
We were 4 adults and 2 children so the layout and size of the cottage and property suited us perfectly. We appreciated the cleanliness and lack of clutter of the house and the selection of both indoor and outdoor activities and toys made available to the children. It made for a change from the toys they had brought. The owner was amenable to a request for a 2 day stay of another four family members and was very quick to respond to a breakdown of the pool heater. The proximity to good but quiet beaches was a plus. We attended an excellent pipe, drum and dance performance in Summerside and watched the exercising of the horses at the sulky racetrack. The 6 km walk along the Dunk River was shady and fun for youngsters. It was, for us, a good introduction to PEI.
We just returned from a weeks' vacation on PEI. This home is immaculately clean, with plenty of space and a cozy, warm feel. It was extremely well appointed, and my husband and I along with our 2 children and my parents wanted for nothing. The pool is HUGE and heated, and we even went in and had a blast on cold evenings because the water temperature was great. The owner was so easy to work with and very pleasant, and I cannot say enough about Donna and Jaime, who are the caretakers. They are the loveliest people on the planet, and do an amazing job. With its central island location, you can drive just about anywhere, though the home is so nice you may not want to. The beach at Basin Head is a bit of a drive(but a beautiful drive), and well worth it with a pristine beach, fantastic amenities, a great little place to each some delicious pub food, and an area where you can jump into a river from a bridge and float on down to the main beach. I was told it was listed as the best beach in Canada, and we could certainly see why. Highly recommend this house.
The house was fantastic! We went with another family, so four parents and five children, and it accommodated us very well. They literally had everything; all the towels you desire, dishes, plastic cups for kids, bathroom stools for kids, indoor toys, beach toys, beach chairs, etc.
The lawn must be close to an acre (or more) where the kids can run and play. It also has a nice fire pit. The pool and deck are amazing. The pictures of the pool do not do it justice. The pool must be 20ft (maybe more) in diameter, and the surrounding deck is spacious. Very quiet and peaceful at night.
The house was close to everything. 20 minutes away from most of the beaches, including Cavendish.
Our family of 4 enjoyed our week at an Island Escape! Our young kids (6&3) loved the pool, open space & the great weather. Mom & Dad enjoyed the quiet and slow pace of being away from a busy everyday life while the kids could easily occupy themselves. Melanie and Dixie were fabulous and the cottage had everything we needed and more! Looking forward to a return trip!
The cottage was lovely, clean and had everything we might need. A close drive to everything. Kids had a fabulous time in the pool. The property manager was so welcoming and efficient. Would highly recommend!
Myself and 8 friends spent a winter weekend at Island Escape. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accomodations were exactly as promised...well maintained, spacious and clean. Everything we could possibly need was provided by owner. Loved having the fire place as it was a cold weekend.
The manager, Dixie, was awesome. She had everything prepared for our arrival, including special personal touches! Those went over very well with the gang.
If we ever need another get away we'll definitley book An Island Escape.
