Minimum Stay 4 - 7 nights

About the property

Spacious with 4 large bedrooms, sleeps 10

Wonderful Gloucester Oceanfront home. Come to the North Shore and see where box office hit Manchester by the Sea was filmed.

Home offers a deep water dock for kayaking, fishing and relaxation in the ocean air. No tie-ups available for tenant motorized boats on the dock. Wingaersheek Beach is visible from the home and is a short 5 minute kayak ride away. Kayaks and stand-up paddle boards can be rented nearby and delivered to the home. Spend the day kayaking to the nearby coves (Lobster Cove, Goose Cove and Jones Creek) exploring marshlands and watching snowy egrets. Take in the home's sweeping ocean views from almost all rooms in the house. You can see Ipswich Bay, Wingearsheek Beach, and the Annisquam River. On a clear day you can see all the way to the New Hampshire shoreline from the dining area. Enjoy your morning relaxing with ocean views on the wrap around 3 season porch. Plus a spacious waterfront deck for outdoor dining. Neighborhood public right of way access to the mouth of the Mill River for bass fishing, beautiful sunsets and exploring tidal flats. 3 mile driving distance to beaches and public train service to Boston. Newer kitchen including adjacent dining area with spectacular views, spacious family room, living room, and wrap around screened in waterfront porch.

Dock usage: The dock is available for lounging, swimming, fishing, and launching tenant owned or rented kayaks or stand up paddle boards which can be rented locally and delivered to the home. Also a great spot to catch local stripers.

Renting our home with children: We do rent to families with children. As with any waterfront property regular adult supervision is required if children are near the waterfront and imperative while children are on the dock. Peak tidal currents ( the middle third of each incoming and outgoing tide) can be very strong in the river and around the dock. There is a small beach at the end of the street ( 3 minute walk) accessible at low to mid tide, that is best suited for younger children.

It is a large property with great areas for the kids to explore at low tide right in front of the house. The river and the tidal flats are feeding and nursing grounds for many aquatic creatures: crabs, periwinkles, eels, starfish, minnows and raven fish to name a few; are all right there for kids to explore. Enough to keeps the kids occupied for hours.

Please note: Owner's reserve the right to access their boats on the property dock and nearby mooring during rental periods. Owner's will board their boats and depart for the day. The owner's will respect tenant's privacy while on the property and the owner's will not enter the home without prior tenant permission.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Nice waterfront property for Families & Couples

Really enjoyed the relaxing stay in Gloucester last summer with my extended family. The house location right on the water was great- so much more room and much quieter than than staying in a cramped hotel room. The four bedrooms upstairs each had their own quaint character (and names!) and included at least one queen size bed and two had additional twins for the kids. We did not need all the beds for our party but would work out well for a large extended family or a group of couples. The place had window air conditioners on each floors but we did not even use them as the afternoon sea breeze helped to cool things off. The upstairs bath was not huge but easily met our needs and there was a half bath down stairs as well. Parking was also decent as we often had four cars in the driveway and the house and grounds were well maintained like in the pictures on the website.

The kitchen was large and modern with most everything you would need for a simple breakfast to a large dinner party. We ate breakfast at home most days and had our coffee at the large table overlooking the water often with fresh bagels and muffins from Jim’s bagels in downtown Gloucester.

We ate out for Dinner a few times and enjoyed the fresh local seafood at The Rudder. The local beaches (about a 10 minute drive as I remember) Good Harbor

and Wingaersheek were very nice but we needed to get there early to get a prime parking spot. Sometimes we went back at 4 after the crowds left and had a long walk on the sand bar and late day swim in the surf. Also brought our own kayaks which we launched right off the dock at the house and were able to cruise the local tidal river right over to Wingaersheek beach. The enclosed outside shower was also convenient. The kids kept themselves busy before dinner finding crabs and periwinkles at the water’s edge. They showed us their catch each day and were sad when we needed to return them to the sea each night.

We ended most days with drinks on the large outside deck watching the sunset and then we used the fire pit after dark. On the two overcast days we went shopping in Rockport & Salem and took our drinks on the large enclosed sun deck We had a very nice stay in Gloucester and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a week or two to unwind. Considering coming back again next year.

Deep Water Dock for lounging, and swimming. Deep water dock is a rare feature. This means we have water under our dock 100% of the time for water access and atmosphere. Many other surrounding homes offer a tidal dock, making water access very limited. During summer months, dock is occupied by owner's boats and not available for tenant motor boat tie-up. Tenants are welcome to bring their own kayaks/paddle boards or rent and launch from the dock or waterfront. Owner kayaks and stand-up paddle boards are not for tenant use. Air conditioning with window units, fireplace in home is not currently operational. Pets are not allowed anywhere on the property.

My sisters, son, and I had a great Thanksgiving here! The views are wonderful of the changing tides and sunsets. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. The beds are very comfortable and have nice linens. Wifi was reliable. Great place overall!

Perfect for two families

  • 5 of 5

This home is perfect for two families - teenagers to grandparents. Great spaces to all be together and great spaces to find alone time. I loved waking up at 6am before everyone else to have my coffee on the sun porch listening to the birds and enjoying the sunrise before paddleboarding out to Wingaersheek. We rented two kayaks and two paddleboards from North Shore Kayak and went out everyday from the dock. Caught stripers and flounder! Large table was perfect for dinners and card games. This home is stocked with everything you could possibly need and SO very comfortable. It was very hard to leave.

Enjoyable stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this comfortable Gloucester waterfront home that is located in a quiet neighborhood. The many windows offered beautiful views of the water even on the rainy days. We enjoyed watching the tide roll in & out from the water front deck too. The home was very clean and roomy for 7 adults. The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of linens and towels. The location of this home is an easy drive to the many restaurants and shops downtown. Karen, one of the owners, was very responsive to all of my correspondence and her recommendations to local restaurants were appreciated. The Beauport Hotel, Latitude 43 and The Shore were our favorites.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home if you are looking for a great place to stay in Gloucester. Judy G. & family

Enjoyable property and location

  • 5 of 5

An extremely enjoyable stay in Gloucester. The home was extremely clean and well kept.

We visited several of the beaches and other locations in historic Gloucester that were included in the three ring binder explaining the area. A fully equipped location that left no i un-dotted or t uncrossed. We tried some fishing at various places in the area with little luck. Perhaps we are just not good fishermen. I would recommend this location to others without question.
