About the property

Villa, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

We understand the meaning of vacation. Our lives are stressful enough and planning a vacation can be fun, but tedious. Our property manager, Nicole will assist in complete trip-planning, from your arrival in San Jose to departure and everything in between- all you need to do is show up! Our Costa Rica villa is a retreat, perfect for a romantic getaway, a family reunion, or a trip with friends.

Nestled in the heart of Manuel Antonio, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, our villa is a very comfortable vacation home. You will enjoy sitting on the master balcony while taking in the rainforest views. Spend the day lounging by the pool, or sitting on the patio and watching the wildlife go by, or it is just a short trip (5-10 minutes) down to the beaches and Manuel Antonio National Park. Our villa is conveniently located near restaurants, bars, supermarket, butcher, internet cafe, pharmacy, doctor’s office and public transportation. Our villa is located at the end of a cul de sac in a local working neighborhood. It is roughly halfway between the town of Quepos and the beaches and National Park Manuel Antonio.

The villa’s main floor is open concept, and windows abound to allow tons of natural sunlight to flood in and unobstructed views of the lush rainforest surround. The decor is crisp and clean and the villa is equipped with quality linens and towels.

For the wildlife enthusiasts, there are many varieties of monkeys. Birders be sure to bring a pair of binoculars as mot-mot, tanagers, flycatchers, Scarlet Macaws, and sometimes even toucans can be seen!

Comments from recent guests:

“ I would be glad to recommend your place to anyone ! I forgot to tell you how many Blue Morpho butterflies we saw-several every day and one morning I lost count sitting on the balcony drinking coffee! It was a real treat to see so many...Thank you so much for the beautiful time we spent. The house is fabulous and the decor is simply gorgeous. I wish you much success with your beautiful home and hope to return next year for another delightful vacation. It is truly a little paradise on earth.”

“Thank you again for letting us stay for another night. It worked out even better for us. We loved your house and really wish we could´ve stayed there for longer. It was beautiful and the location was amazing. Thank you again for starting off our trip in such a fantastic manner and please let me know if there is anywhere online that I might leave a comment about the great time we had while we were staying at your villa.” Jonathan Webb, San Diego, California, USA March 2009

'We would like to thank you for sharing your beautiful home. We had a wonderful time revisiting Manuel Antonio and your house was in a perfect location for us. We saw several large families of howler monkeys outside your gate on two nights, and a family of capuchin monkeys one morning. The girls were entranced. Unique Tours, Kanuto's white water rafting trip, that you arranged was spectacular. We really appreciated their focus on safety. He is a great guy who gave us lots of wonderful tips on other things to see and do and even where to buy fresh shrimp and good Chilean Cabernet to enjoy by your pool. Best wishes and thank you for the opportunity.'

Carol & Ian, USA July 2008

'I would like you to know how thoroughly I enjoyed your house. The setting is beautiful. The house is beautiful. The interior is decorated beautifully. I loved having the private pool with the waterfall. I also enjoyed lying in bed watching the Monkeys play in the trees just outside my window as well as numerous species of birds. I was taken care of from arrival to departure.

Thank you very much'

David from Georgia, July 2008

About Sheila Gentry

My husband, Shawn and I purchased Casa Kalani in December 2009. We have since been to our home many trips with our two small children, family and friends. It is always an adventure and we love to keep going back to enjoy the monkeys that stop by our home most

mornings. We just returned from a trip where we had Squirrel monkeys with their babies visiting, white faced monkeys and Toucans. It is so much fun to spend time with our family enjoying relaxing by the pool, cooking out, going out to eat at our favorite place Aqua Azual. If you need anything from us please don't hesitate to ask. Sheila

What makes this villa unique

We are located in a local working neighborhood which is convenient to shopping, grocery store and restaurants. We recommend a small SUV if driving in Costa Rica. The roads in this region can be gravel and/or steep terrian. Our driveway does require a 4 wheel drive.

Wonderful house in great location. Bedrooms were spacious and beds comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 9 day vacation. We enjoyed Manual Antonio. My suggestion is to drive to very end of road and park. You will find parking for minimal fee. Entrance to park is $16 US. Don't get fooled into paying over $40 for tour not needed. No food to purchase so bring your own but would not allow nuts or granola bars. Not sure why. If you drive down road by falafel restaurant there's a beautiful beach with parking for small fee and short walk to beach that's free and great to swim. Chairs and umbrellas are available to rent. There's people who are selling hot cooked food and drinks or you can bring whatever you want. Many good restaurants in walking distance. Great house all around. I will be back for sure

Great location, monkeys and toucans right outside every day. Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Its an easy walk to Sanchos, The falafal place and many more restaurants and grocery stores. Nicole made our stay so easy, she arranged tours and dinner reservations. Very very steep driveway and lots of stairs, I used them as a mini work out but definitely not good for young children or the elderly. Living room furniture could use an update.... overall great place. Thanks!

Nice to have a pool and wildlife

  • 4 of 5

We woke up to squirrel monkeys playing on the roof, then saw an agouti in the yard. The house is a bit steep for piece of mind with young children (both inside and out). Nicole was very helpful with suggestions on where to go and activities. It was nice to have a pool on site, and the washer and dryer was convenient.

Beautiful Home

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful home in a very convenient location. The driveway is steep as described and entry into the home itself might be difficult for anyone with physical limitations. Fully stocked with plenty of towels and wash clothes. Plenty of wildlife surrounding this house. We were able to sit in the balcony and view monkeys every morning. We did have some plumbing/water issues while we were there. The house manager tried unsuccessfully to get this corrected during our stay. We were given a partial refund by the owner to help compensate for this inconvenience.

Lovely home in a GREAT location

  • 5 of 5

Booked this home for my best friend's 50th Birthday. It was seven guys and we had more than enough space. The house was perfect for our needs. Spacious, clean, and a pool! Nicole the house manager went above and beyond to assist with transportation and tours. She is very familiar with the area and knows her stuff! She even booked a chef for a private dinner we had the first night for my buddy's birthday. Chef Roger was excellent! Nicole checked on us every day we were there (6 days) to make sure we were okay. The house is gated so we felt very safe. The housekeeper came twice during our stay and was very nice and cleaned the house from top to bottom both days. The house is just a short taxi ride to the beach and plenty of restaurants in Manuel Antonio. We walked some nights. We rode the bus most of the time. We will definitely be back to Casa Kalani and recommend to all our friends and family.

Great Casa for Manuel Antonio vacation

  • 5 of 5

Reviews represent Casa Kahlani accurately. Our group of 4 spent 4 nights and enjoyed it very much. The casa is a 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants (try Mar Luna's ceviche at sunset) and a 10 minute bus ride to the National Park. AC in bedrooms and the pool were welcome in the 90 degree heat. Concierge Nicole was fabulous, arranging high-quality tours for us and responding quickly and effectively when a minor plumbing problem arose. If you're cooking for yourself, bring or purchase your seasonings and condiments as they aren't provided at the casa.
