Leave the crowds behind in Galveston and Houston and relax in Surfside Beach, Texas. A special place where you can slow down, unwind, relax, and discover life's little treasures. The Village of Surfside Beach, Texas is a cozy little island with 21 miles of unspoiled shoreline.

Barefoot Days is an ideal spot to enjoy your time on the beach. Built in 2005, Barefoot Days includes a very clean 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths with a full kitchen, large living and dining area. Enjoy an action-packed day on the water or just curl up with a book on the deck. Great ocean views and views of passing ships on the intracoastal from the deck and below the house. Quick walk to the beach through neighborhood footpath. Pet and kid friendly accommodations with fully fenced yard and access gates at the top and bottom of the exterior stairs.

Surfside Beach is truly a wonderful Texas coastal city, with miles of unspoiled shoreline, coastal marsh, bays and nearby rivers. Surfside Beach is the perfect retreat for the hard working city dweller or laid back retiree.

From downtown Houston just go south on Texas Highway 288 until you hit the beach. Once you top the Surfside bridge you'll get a panoramic view that you won't soon forget. You can also reach us through Galveston, just go west. Once you reach the San Luis Pass bridge you'll know you're getting close. Just take the Bluewater highway straight to Surfside.

If you like to fish, then you've come to the right place. Early morning or late afternoon are both excellent times to try your luck, your choice of fishing the bay or the surf will be the only decision you need to make. Whatever you decide the chances are good that you'll come away with some fantastic memories and some fish fillets you can share with your friends and family.

The kayak has become a popular tool for the once shore bound angler, access to prime fishing spots and the ability to get away from the crowd is a huge advantage to those in the know.

For birdwatchers, Surfside is one of the best spots on the Texas coast. Hundreds of different species have been spotted, including residents like the reddish egret and rosette spoonbill. A short drive to Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge is a must for any serious birdwatcher. You will be amazed at the beauty and variety of birds that gather in this coastal habitat throughout the year.

Surfing is a serious past time in Texas and Surfside Beach is the best spot on the upper gulf coast. The surfing community is in full swing with lots of friendly characters.

If you want to get out of the big city for a while and enjoy a relaxing weekend or week on the Texas coast, consider Surfside Beach. Friendly people, mild weather, and lots of open beach make for a fun and exciting time you won't soon forget.

week at the beach

  • 4 of 5

WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME MAY 2011 AT SURFSIDE BEACH. WE SPENT THE WEEK WITH OUR SON, WIFE AND GRANDCHILDREN. THE HOUSE WAS ADORABLE AND VERY COMFY. THERE WAS A WATER ISSUE I BELIEVE BECAUSE OF THE DROUGHT AND THE WATER WAS STINKY AND BROWNISH, BUT ALL IN ALL THE WEEK WAS FANTASTIC. FIRST TIME TO THE BEACH FOR OUR GRANDKIDS!!!
