Sweet little cottage - right next to a busier street than I thought

  • 4 of 5

The overall impression of the house was really great, cute little cottage, fully equipped, we didn't miss anything. Three spacious bedrooms and even one extra room (great for suitcases and other stuff)!

The only downside for us was the street:

We stayed with our two kids (2 and 4y), so the street really scared me. It was much busier than I expected from just looking at the map. A lot of motorcycles and loud cruisers on the weekend.

John is great, very easy going. Trying to sell the house though, Maybe already sold it? So, be quick if you want to rent it ;)

Great Location and no-fuss vacationing!

  • 4 of 5

Cottage has two double beds in separate rooms and three twins in one comfortable space. There is also a small breezy area that we could leave the dog gated in without worry. Kitchen comes fully stocked (might want to bring a bigger coffee pot) and there are towels and linens for all. All hardwood floors make for easy sweep out care and great porch, grilling and private outdoor eating area complete the package. The cottage is close to the street and you have to cross to get to the sidewalk, but Niles Beach is a quick walk around the corner. This beach is wonderful for swimming and the surf is calm for small children. Location is perfect for long walks to Eastern Point lighthouse one way and Rocky Neck art colony the other. Parking is tight for two-three cars but we were able to use the public parking (~1/2 mile away) at Rocky Neck for two gatherings during our stay. Overall-well worth the price and can't beat the location.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had our first visit to Gloucester and decided to stay away from the packed beaches of Good Harbor and Wingarsheek and enjoyed the much less crowded more peaceful Niles Beach. Its a cute beach w/tranquil waters and soft sand and is a very short minute walk from house, very convenient!

The house seems like new as it was just renovated and the bedrooms were clean uncluttered and each bed had a bath & beach towel, very nice! Two of the bedrooms have nice peaks of beach and ocean and very bright. The bathroom is clean w/a full bath and the stacked washer/dryer is handy. We loved the new kitchen and breakfast bar, so handy to feed the kids and have a casual snack. The living room is comfortable and we loved the Smart Tv and great cable package.

Outdoors the wrap around farmer porch allowed us to watch the people pass by in front and privacy for dining on side. The Weber gas BBQ works great and is clean. We loved the quiet neighborhood and walking to Rocky Neck to dine or just stroll the many galleries and boutiques. Im very impressed w/the area and city of Gloucester and found this property to be one of the best values in town.
