My stay here was absolutely awesome! I came for my birthday weekend with 3 friends. Laurie and David were so helpful and had great communication. The house was immaculate and I do not have one bad thing to say about it. Everything is so clean and well kept and we did not want for a thing! It was an amazing view and we had a great time relaxing here. I never write reviews but this stay deserved 5 stars from me!

An all around fantastic experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family cannot say enough wonderful things about this rental. From the minute we pulled in, we found it absolutely charming! The gardens around the house are very pretty. The grounds are mostly natural looking, but very weel kept. We were welcomed into the stay with a lovely gift basket of delicious local treats waiting for us on the bar! The house was extremely clean and completely wonderful. It's a newer home with wonderful touches of art and nature throughout. The master bedroom upstairs has a wonderful view of the harbor, and almost any direction you turn in the house you're looking through windows. We had deer eating in the backyard every morning and various wildlife could be heard nearby in the evening. One of the best ways to relax around the property (as if we weren't relaxed enough...) were the chairs out by the edge of the marsh where you could watch the tide come in and go out in the harbor. We were an easy distance to Mt. Desert Island, so that was a plus. But the house was very warm and welcoming. It was one of the best parts about our stay in the area. We couldn't wait to get into the comfortable beds every night and enjoy the sounds of the Maine evening through the windows.

As amazing as the pictures are, they fall short how great a home this is! Everything as promised & more. Great location only 30 minutes from Acadia park. Laurie & Dave are fantastic hosts, they thought of everything. Their garden could rival Thayer's. You'll never want to leave!

Thoreau would love this place!

  • 5 of 5

As Texans visiting Maine for the first time, we were looking for a secluded waterfront location. We couldn't have been happier. This setting is the perfect blend of nature and nurture -- woods, water, a cute little stream, and colorful well-tended gardens. The inside of the home was spotless, with a 'corner view' from everywhere in the house. To give you an idea of how much the outside is apart of the inside here, I saw a bald eagle swoop over the edge of the bay while I was in the SHOWER. Guests need bring nothing with them but a change of clothes as the home is well-provisioned with anything a traveler could need. Laurie and David were wonderful -- we got to meet them thanks to a storm-caused power outage that caused a plumbing issue they responded immediately to. The only thing I would want to make visitors aware of is that the upstairs master suite is a loft, and as such there is no door to close to provide complete privacy. But for us (2 adults with two small children) this was really a perfect setup. I'd recommend this rental to anyone without reservation. We may be back!

Beautiful retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I use Homeway/VRBO or Airbnb whenever we travel, and have stayed in some wonderful places. But this is the first time I couldn’t resit emailing our hosts an hour after our arrival to tell them how beautiful their home was, and how happy we were to be there. It was everything previous reviewers accurately described—gorgeous house, absolutely spotless, comfortable (the master suite mattress beat ours in comfort!), private, serene and loaded with amenities. Perhaps it was because we arrived after dark and couldn’t help but notice the absence of city noise and light pollution. The night sky alone will blow you away. Knowing in advance that we would be arriving late, the lights were left on to greet us. The first thing that caught my eye was the vase of lovely, freshly cut wildflowers from the gardens surrounding the house. I think almost every reviewer mentioned the welcome basket that awaited them. I just wasn’t expecting it to be quite so generous and thoughtful. I think “generous” and “thoughtful” are the words I’m looking for that made this rental seem particularly special. We never had a chance to meet either Laurie or David, but I exchanged a number of emails with Laurie. She is such a lovely, friendly and helpful person. Did I leave out generous and thoughtful? Many thanks!

A beautiful and peaceful haven from every day life

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful week long stay at Frenchman's Bay Retreat!

The house was just beautiful with gorgeous views from every window! We felt very relaxed and at peace in our surroundings. Everything was incredibly clean and organized at the house and the beds were quite comfortable. Laurie and David were exceptionally friendly and hospitable and we especially enjoyed the welcome basket of treats and helpful brochures which we used throughout the week. Lamoine is a great location if you really want to escape and it is also convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We would highly recommend this fabulous rental!
