About John and Kate Mickus
John, Kate and Emily Mickus live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Northeast Entrance and the Beartooth Mountains have been their favorite place to recreate for decades! 'We just love this area, its like going on a remote backcountry trip but still having some great amenities and the comfort of home!' John's parents purchased the property in 1975 and have created a spectacular combo of vintage log homes and modern comforts. Combine this with the amazing creekside location in the Yellowstone ecosystem, and you have a vacation to remember! We're sure you will be impressed with the wildlife, mountains, and especially the beauty of our property. We look forward to hosting your family!

Great cabin and perfect location.
Great location mins from NE Yellowstone
We loved the time my husband and I spent at this cabin. The location is perfect just mins from Yellowstone and the views from the back room with all the big windows is unbelievable. We enjoyed gazing at the mountains and stream that runs on the property. It snowed while we were there and it increased the beauty. (We are from So Cal and never see snow). There is no cable and limited internet which initially was a concern, but frankly we didn’t miss it. The cabin has adequate kitchenware but not any condiments which didn’t bother us. We were on vacation so didn’t cook. We ate frequently at the quaint Log Cabin Cafe and got pizza and watched football at Miner Saloon. Pat, the property manager, was awesome and shoveled snow on walkway and driveway and gave us great ideas for things to see. We will definitely be back.
Gorgeous, comfortable, luxuriously rustic, great location
This cabin was more than comfortable for our group of six. The cabin itself is cozy and comfy with a “great room”/den and view of river (just a few feet off the back deck) and mountains. Cute little town, nice little cafe for delicious breakfast. Just a few miles from northeast entrance of Yellowstone and several more miles to Lamar Valley for wildlife viewing (we saw lots of bison, some antelope, and two bears- very far away-bring binoculars or scope for better view🤓). I digress...back to this wonderful cabin; caretakers Cat and Pat are very accessible w/lots of good tips. If you are lucky, the resident buffalo, Jackson, will stop by for some grazing. The cabin was so lovely, I stayed behind one day to take a break from driving and sightseeing to just soak up the ambiance and surrounding beauty.
Soda Butte Beauty!!
The Cabin ("Alpenglow") is wonderful!!! A mile and a half from Yellowstone and 3 miles from Cooke City, which is a MUST to visit. The photos posted on the website accurately represent the cabin, and there are many surprise features which aren't even depicted. The caretaker was extremely pleasant ... on the spot if you needed him., and invisible when you don't. And there ARE trout in the Creek (my fishing partner caught a 16 inch cutthroat trout 20 feet from the cabin!). We will be back ... soon!
Cabin in the mountains
Very nice and clean. Hosts were very friendly. The view was beautiful. Very close to Yellowstone Northeast Entrance. Great Vacation for us.
Total Relaxation and Comfort! The setting of our acreage is one of a kind. Our home is an experience in itself.
We're in a small mountain town, yet you can enjoy Big views, the sound of the creek, mature trees, lots of sunshine, and amazing wildlife. Many pristine hikes leave from our property, yet you can walk less than a minute to 2 general stores and the famous Log Cabin Cafe! Cooke City is only 3 miles up the highway, or take the dirt back road! Lots to do and see! Easy and beautiful hiking trail along creek into Yellowstone's serenity! This is the most wild and scenic part of the United States!
