2 bedroom cabin, sleeps 5, fully furnished Great for an adult get away.
What makes this House unique
Nothing fancy 🙂. In queen bed you can see the Mississippi River 😊. Guests have watch owls, deer and my ducks 🦆 run to get food or get locked up for the night 😀.

We highly recommend planning a little extra time to enjoy the beautiful gardens at Mississippi Hillside. We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay for two nights. We were traveling with our 2 year old granddaughter and Julie was so nice to bring over some toys for her to play with. We felt like we were staying with family and would certainly return here again.
Great place plenty of room close enough to Keokuk for everything but far enough not to be right in it. Beautiful river view!
The owners were very friendly and it is a great place just to sit back and relax. It is country living at its finest. Better then staying in a hotel in my opinion. Plan on going back for another stay
Quiet and quaint!
We loved our 3 day stay at the quiet cabin on the Mississippi. Perfect for our family of 5 to access the events in the Nauvoo area.
Nice quiet spot looking towards the Mississippi no complaints here made for a nice e 2 day stay in iowa
Old, small and infested with ants
Julie seemed to be a nice person. However, this house left much to be desired. First, Julie did not provide any check in instructions and I had to text 2 hours before our arrival for instructions. Julie has done wonderful job in creating a beautiful outdoor space. Julie and her family live on property and their house is about 75 foot away from the rental. Every morning while having coffee on the deck, Julie or one of her family members was outside completing chores. No privacy at all. Secondly, we had to ask permission for my cousin and her husband to visit, because there is a note that states no visitors, which was very odd. Julie did allow them to visit and we sat out of the deck (which has very loose rails, btw) until 12:30 or so. We wanted to visit longer but since Julie’s home is so extremely close, we did not want to keep them up with our laughing and carrying on. So, we cut our visit short.
The Mississippi is across the street, however, you must climb over the railroad tracks (pretty steep) to get to the dock. My husband and son went fishing and Julie was kind enough to lend them a basket for their fish. But as my husband noted, “When she came over to the dock she was friendly, but I could tell she was checking to see what we were doing and not just there to be friendly.”
Now the cabin is not updated in any regards. The décor and furnishings look to be goodwill/garage sale/thrift store finds. What you would find in a very cheap motel. The bathroom is small and the shower extremely small. The house is infested with ants. The first two mornings we woke up to find ants crawling all over our toothbrushes that were put up in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. The house is cooled via several window units and fans. Lots of extension cords and lamps because there are no overhead lights. There is not a washer/dryer. The bathroom is “in the living room,” meaning the door to the bathroom is right next to that orange couch you see in the pictures. I do not know if this could really be considered a “2 bedroom” because the “master” does not have a door or a closet. It is off the living room and is separated by a curtain, no privacy inside the house. This was very small, my daughters stayed with family because they felt uncomfortable in this house. I will not use the adage “you get what you pay for." We have have always stayed at homes around this price and have not been let down. This was a disappointment. TLDR: outside nice, inside not, ANTS!!
Sounds like they are not happy we live close and mess up their plans for a big family get together out here ! 😁. Wouldn’t your family have it at their home or do your laundry. And as for ants I never saw any in the bathroom. I have seen some in the kitchen. And have bug bombed. And I do take care of my ducks and chickens in the morning but most of my guests love watching the ducks run to the creek 😃when I let them out. And sorry if I bugged your husband by taking over my net and pliers for they could get their big catfish in and off the hook.
And if your looking for fancy 5 star place it is not here. It is just a relaxing place to watch the Mississippi and my funny ducks and wildlife and not be in town 🙂
And I thought you were really nice people that I would want to come back😠
And I do have a lot of guests that come back and I consider friends now! So it must not be to bad here 😃
