Great Vacation. Great location!!!
The apartment was very clean. Augusto was very thorough in the explanation of the apartment and it’s surroundings. Location and distance to the plaza as well as going down to the beach is not for the faint of heart . You will walk and you will go down many many steps in order to go to the beach. That is all part of the thrill of being in Amalfi and enjoying to cacophony of sounds buses cars and people 😊
Breathtaking view from our apartment. Kitchen Well stocked with pots and pans and various amenities. However, a microwave and a coffee machine other than a very small percolator would’ve been a nice plus.
Overall an amazing unforgettable vacation!
Thank you so very much for your kind words and was delighted that we met your expectations. We pride ourselves on ensuring all of our guests only receiving the very best in service so I have already shared your feedback with my team in Italy and Augusto :)
We are also ensuring that a microwave oven as well as a larger coffee machine will be supplied in the property.
We look very much forward to welcoming you back in one of our Villa Rental Hols properties on the Amalfi Coast in the near future.
Clean and modern apartment with a beautiful terrace. Such a bonus to have so much room to enjoy the outdoors. Few issues noted. Noisy both day and night. Air conditioning and heat are extra cost. Bed not comfortable, very hard. We were bitten multiple times by some type of mosquito/no-see-um at the apartment which made for uncomfortable evenings. On the plus side the apartment is spacious and the kitchen functional with a large fridge. Good water pressure and lots of hot water. The washing machine is a plus and drying clothes in the Mediterranean sun a pleasure. We were pleased with our stay and did not want to leave that fantastic terrace!
Thank you for your feed back sorry about the mosquitos but did you not use the insect screens ? These are fitted on all windows and out doors of the apartment.
Exceptional! From the organization of the staff to the cleanliness to the views !
When we first arrived and experienced the 99 stair walk to our villa , we thought hmmmm this is going to SUCK, but after decadent Italian meals we adopted a "bring it on" calorie-reducing positive attitude.
But seriously , this villa is situated in a quiet area, has breathtaking views and was extremely clean . A GREAT gem .
And Laura , our representative, was OUTSTANDING!!! She conducted herself with utmost professionalism. She was an incredible ambassador , making sure our every question and convenience was tended to .
Lovely apartment, fab location, fantastic terrace
We stayed in the apartment for a week in July. At 5 1/2 months pregnant I was a little apprehensive about the steps and general terrain of Amalfi (we booked the flights pre baby!) but access to the apartment wasn't too bad despite the blistering heat.
The apartment itself was spotless and very spacious, perfect for the 2 of us and I'm sure still plenty of space for 4 people. The terrace was spectacular, spacious with plenty of welcome shade. For sun-seekers I would say the only drawback was that you don't get any sun after around 3.30pm/4pm but that goes for most of the coast.
Location wise it's great, a 45minute stroll into Amalfi Town, or ten minutes on the bus which stops just round the corner from the apartment. We tried all three nearby restaurants and all were good in their own way, although beware of overcharging - which goes for many of the restaurants we visited during our stay!
The service we received from the management was second to none, the gentleman who checked us in took a lot of time to give advice on the region, buses, boats and trips, and Laura in the office was always very quick to respond to any issues or queries we had, even on the weekends. I was incredibly impressed with the service and would certainly look to use them again if booking in the region.
Terrace from Heaven
My partner and I stayed for ten days without a car at Il Mare, about a thirty minute walk downhill to Amalfi. Il Mare is a very large and very clean one-bedroom apartment in a meticulously maintained complex of about eight units—I’m guessing—run by a British company whose representatives in Amalfi were always prompt and responsible in addressing our concerns by phone or email. Il Mare’s gorgeous, forty-foot long, private terrace is drenched in morning and mid-afternoon sunlight and overlooks the sea from about150 feet up. The terrace is also slightly curved with a private garden and olive trees at one end with vistas across the Santa Croce. An informal pizzeria and a more upscale Italian restaurant are both within a ten minute walk, but for provisions you’ll have to walk into town, where you can take the SITA bus to go home (uphill) or to visit neighboring Positano, Ravello, or Sorrento. (There is also limited ferry service to many of the popular towns.) While it was a relief for us not to have to deal with parking or the harrowing coastal driving, the SITA bus service is not frequent enough to accommodate the crowds of tourists who want to use it. And if you are traveling with children, walking alongside automobile traffic will not be an attractive option. All the appliances at Il Mare were new and functioned well; the wifi connection, however, slowed down inexplicably the last two days of our visit to become almost useless. I looked at many Airbnb and Homeaway sites before settling on Il Mare—it was a very good value and recommend it highly.
Thank you for your feedback, really happy you have enjoyed your stay with us at IL MARE, yes it has a ''Terrace from Heaven'' !
Just wanted to point out that ferries and busesconnecting other towns to and from Amalfi are more frequent as from June through to October.
The wify at IL MARE is Mobile BroadBand Wi-Fi
The Internet service is provided by a Mobile server Company router and it has limited Broadband ( usually 7GB monthly ), adequate to browse websites, ( shopping online, online banking, social networks ) and check e-mails. Downloading movies, games, songs, or watching video in streaming is not permitted for high bandwidth consuming, and in this case when the GBs available are finished you will not be able to navigate.
So sorry to hear the Wify was slow the last 2 days your stay, wish you had contacted our local staff !
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Aalfi Coast soon !
Amalfi is located in the middle of the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy.
The nearest restaurant is about 500 meters from the apartment. Il Mare apartment is only 3 Km. from the main square in Amalfi, where there are all amenities and entertainments, such as shops, banks, post office, bars and restaurants, etc... the sea is beautiful, and you will also find beach facilities, such as bars and restaurants.
The Sita bus stop (bus line Amalfi/Positano/Sorrento approx every hour) is situated at 200 m. from Il Mare.
The main bus terminal is in Amalfi, where all the buses arrive and depart from here, connecting with Positano, Sorrento, Ravello, Salerno, Naples.
From the docks in Amalfi you will also be able to board ferries and hydrofoils to Positano, Capri, Salerno or Sorrento Coast and Naples, as well as go on mini-cruises for tourists.
If you are fond of archaeology, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Paestum are easily within reach, between 1 to 2 hours driving distance.
How to get there
There are several ways to get to Amalfi / Amalfi Coast from Naples Capodichino Airport or Naples / Salerno Train station either by renting a car or by public transport.
The property is located 30 km. (19 miles) west of Salerno (about 50 minutes driving) and 70 km. (43 miles) southeast of Naples (about a 90 minute drive).
By Public transport all depends on your arrival time at the airport/train station. Visit Amalfi Coast Transport to see which option (Bus or Ferry) will suit you best.
The easiest way to reach any destination on the Amalfi Coast from Naples airport or train station is to hire a taxi for a private transfer. While it might seem an extravagant expense, the advantages far outweigh the cost.
Since public transportation on the Amalfi Coast is easy to use and affordable and parking is expensive and very limited, renting a car is not recommended in general.
Arranging for a private transfer reduces the stress of arriving on the Amalfi Coast and eliminates the expenses and difficulties of driving in the area.
