Such a gem!

We just spent 3 weeks at this lovely little place. The casita (2 bedroom unit) is beautiful, roomy and comfortable. The kitchen is large and completely stocked with just about everything you need to cook anything you want. And Cheryl, the owner, is happy to lend whatever isn't there.

The owners, David and Cheryl, are delightful people - very friendly and helpful, but give you space. They share their own large, beautiful patio with their guests, which has a huge palapa that catches the wind and keeps you cool after too much sun. There are also chaise lounges for sunning, and the patio has a beautiful stone stairway down to the beach and the deep blue sea!

One thing to mention is that the casita (and studio apt) are up a 20-step flight of stairs. They are a bit steeper than standard in the USA, but not bad. It was fine with us, as we needed the exercise :-) , but could be a problem for folks with walking difficulties.

The town is adorable and quaint, and everything you need is within walking distance. The food is to-die-for at every restaurant we tried; the people are friendly.

The only down side of Los Barriles is that, without renting a car or ATV (pricey!), you're pretty-much stuck in Los Barriles. There is a bus stop on the highway above the town, but don't know how usable bus services are. There are no taxis or other transportation services to go exploring out of town, or to visit La Paz or Cabo San Lucas (each 1.5 hours away). This was fine with us, because we were happy staying where we were, but it would have been nice to explore the villages north and south of Los Barriles.

All in all, it was a beautiful stay, and we were very happy with the accommodations, and our hosts were just so lovely and helpful. I would go back in a heartbeat - and probably will!

Wow - Not Many Reviews...

This place is nice. It's two nice apartments that share a balcony. One is 2 beds, 1 bath. The other is a studio with a bathroom. It's a good location very close to town and the beach. You should know that the second bedroom is a little quirky. You access it from either the main bedroom or the bathroom and it's smaller. If you're OK with that, then the place is great. We never felt the need for a car, but you can rent cars and quads in town. A car was $30. A quad was $100 per day. Lots of stairs. The owners are great, but don't rent from them in Jan or Feb. It's mine.

Best Vacation we have ever had!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from 3 weeks staying at the casita in Los Barriles. We didn't really know what to expect when we got there and were blown away by what a nice place it was. Dave and Cheryl could not have been warmer and more welcoming. They are truly Los Barriles legends and a wealth of knowledge as they have been coming down since the 70's. Everyone in town knows them and I think it was advantageous for us on numerous occasions that were were staying "at Dave and Cheryl's place". We stayed in the larger Casita above the garage with our 8 month old daughter. It was incredibly private and steps from the beach. There is a great view of the ocean (we watched whales while eating breakfast) as well as the mountains from the covered patio and bedroom. I was able to go kiteboarding directly from the house. I pumped up on the back patio and launched steps away. Wi-fi and cable T.V. were provided, but we were too busy having fun to use them much. The walk to the center of town only takes a few minutes. There are great restaurants, grocery stores, laundry, coffee shops, etc. within a ten minute walk. There is a smaller studio casita as well that would be perfect for friends/family/etc. to stay in as well.

We took a cab from the airport directly to the casita and were able to walk everywhere in town once we got there. There was not one time that we felt like we should have had a vehicle there, but if we had one, there was a spot available that would have been perfectly safe and secure.

David and Cheryl made it so enjoyable for us that we are coming back to L.B. next year for 2 months.

My review

  • 5 of 5

My stay here was delightful, lovely apartment, well designed and on perfectly maintained property.

Convenient location in the center of this small town. Walk to everything and miles of magnificent beach.

Owners Dave and Cheryl did a superb job of ensuring that I had everything I needed.

Back home in Canada now & wondering why I'm not still sitting on that beautiful beach.

thanks you both for everything...Pam.

Excellent accomodations!

There were four of travelling together and the casita was really better than we could have expected. Having the extra unit and bathroom was great for two couples. They had thought of everything and it was decorated nicely. The owners were very helpful and friendly but gave you your privacy. Very down to earth people. The location was very handy to everything including the ocean. We would definately stay at this property again as it was one of the best places we have stayed at with so many conveniences.
