Guestbook comments from the owner

Joe, It was absolutely wonderful. I plan to come back in the summer and also make it a tradition to come back to your place every year for skiing. Thanks a lot I needed that. You have a wonderful, peaceful, place. Is this the only place you have or do you have any other properties in different locations. I like your taste.

Thanks,

Travis

Photos don't do it justice! Perfect 2 night stay in gorgeous setting

  • 5 of 5

We just arrived home from our 2 night stay in this lovely mountain home. It was clean, well-appointed and exactly what we needed. We had 3 adults and 2 kids and everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom except the 2 year old (although we put his pack 'n play in the downstairs den adjacent to our bedroom, so even he had is own private space, which was perfect). My oldest, who is almost 5, LOVED the loft bedroom he slept in, and I liked that it still had a door to close so he wasn't too close to the edge of the railing. Love that there was Netflix, which we'd meant to use but we had brought a bunch of DVDs for the car trip so we used the DVD player with no problem (there's also other DVDs provided if you forget your own, and some - like Star Wars and Batman - would easily entertain the kiddos). All the beds were comfy and the linens really soft. There were little toiletries and items in the kitchen that were that "extra touch" (thank goodness, since we forgot to pack coffee!) The kitchen is a smaller galley style but there's plenty of room to eat a family meal both inside and outside. And the property was gorgeous! We saw a herd of deer run through the yard in the morning while we were out on the deck with our coffee. The yard is extremely steep and was slightly tricky for our kids to navigate but they were fine with my help, and they liked exploring even so. The absolute BEST part was the hot tub, which my husband and I enjoyed both nights after the kids were asleep (and there's 2 exits to the lower level deck, so we didn't need to worry about waking up the 2 year old by exiting through the den). The location was perfect - at the end of the road from Appalachian Ski Resort, down the road from downtown Blowing Rock, outlets and Blue Ridge Parkway. We came for Tweetsie, which is so close you can hear the train whistle and be there in a car in what seemed like under 10 minutes. We entered Tweetsie after 3pm and so came back the next day on the same ticket, giving us nearly 6 hours of fun that was PERFECT for their ages. We also spent some time at the awesome playground in downtown Blowing Rock - overall, an awesome 42 hours! Too quick, wish we could've stayed a week (maybe next time we will!) :) Thanks so much for the hospitality!

Overall a nice place to stay for the weekend in the mountains. The master bath sink on main floor is stopped up and will not drain. We would stay again. Thanks.

Conveniently located with all the comforts of home!

  • 4 of 5

The convenience to the slopes cannot be beat! This home is literally within walking distance to Appalachian Ski Mountain.

Although this is an older home, it has been updated to include anything and everything you need to make your stay a comfortable one. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked. There were plenty of towels and toiletries as well as extra blankets and pillows.

I would like to mention that the downstairs is drastically colder than the rest of the home. Although we weren't able to figure out how to use the gas fireplace, we did locate a space heater and with extra blankets we slept comfortably. You also have to walk through the bedroom to get to the downstairs living area. This wasn't a issue for us; however, I can see how it could be problematic for others.

Also, there is no outdoor lighting by the hot tub. Perhaps some exterior lighting could be installed?

Overall we had a wonderful stay and recommend this home to others.
