Ideal for our family: cozy and safe!
The apartment was perfect—loved the sounds of Venice from the windows—made my kids and myself feel “authentic”! Hearing the gentle water in the canal added much needed tranquility at the end of the day.
The location was perfect, too—easy to find “home” from wherever we were in Venice. Loved that Grom (gelato) was on our way leaving and returning every day! Being directly down from the Campo and the Ca’ Rezzonico water bus stop made everything easier!
Giulia, our hostess, was perfect—always helping us when we needed it... especially during the wind, rain, hail, and electrical storm upon our arrival. (That is the truth!)
Only thing to make it completely perfect would be having my husband with us!
Thank you! Grazie mille!
Could not have wished for better accommodations in Venice.
Beautiful spacious apartment in a wonderful quiet location, within strolling distance to anything you need or wish to visit in Venice. Irene replied promptly to our communications and Giulia made sure we were well settled and orientated for our stay in this beautiful, unique, historical maze Venice. Would strongly recommend this place:)
Perfect apartment for two
The location couldn’t be better. As close to the waterbus stop as advertised, but on the quiet side of the canal. Best of all, no bridge stairs to navigate with luggage. The apartment is a straight shot down a single street from the waterbus stop, then a doorway right before you get to the bridge over the first canal. Other than one step up into the beautiful foyer, there are no stairs to navigate. The living room and bedroom windows open directly onto this quiet residential canal. Really nice air conditioning that cools the whole apartment. We got around all of Venice so easily from there. It is a truly lovely, friendly and quiet neighborhood. We will definitely return!
grazie :)) see you soon i hope
Amazing Two Weeks
We sent my son & his girlfriend (both 20) to Venice for two weeks after they completed their Junior year of college. I wanted to find a safe, quiet place away from the crowds and with a kind owner. This place scores the highest ratings on both.
The apartment absolutely enchanted them. They couldn't say enough good about it-I received a video immediately when they arrived-not believing the wonderful location on the canal next to the bridge. I knew they would love it-watching the gondolas on the local canal amazed me when we first visited and we didn't have a place right ON the canal.
They had also committed to frugality on this trip and the extremely well equipped kitchen made that easy. The Conad market and the barges have everything you need for a great home cooked dinner.
The kids also gave rave reviews to Giulia the Greeter utilized by Irene. They immediately felt so welcome and at ease. Irene has a great rental system-responds immediately, is extremely accommodating and has a terrific property.
For those not familiar with Venice, please know the location of the apartment in Dorsoduro is both easily accessible to everything you want to see in Venice yet far removed from the crowds and prices of the Grand Canal, San Marco, etc.
You definitely can't go wrong in staying at Irene's place.
It has been a pleasure to host Zach and his girlfriend, they have been very nice and left the apartment very clean, thank you so much!
Thank you also Peg for choosing my house for your son, I hope you will come back all together next time!
Perfect spot away from the chaos. Very clean and roomy, easy walking to attractions and restaurants. Jasmine was a great help for several recommendations. Would highly recommend this rental.
Clean organized but noisy from walking pedestrians
The apartment was clean and the owner hires a greeter to meet and set you up which was fine ...the only complaint we had was the noise outside the apartment especially the bedroom which was adjacent to a small street right next to small bridge which had a lot of noisy walking traffic that went on passed midnight and window closed did not shut out noise ....if you want quiet this is not the apartment if noise doesn’t bother you than it was very nice.....
Dorsoduro is one of the most beautiful district of Venice. It houses some of the most picturesque canals and palaces, and some of the town's great art showcases, without the pretension and tourist traps That you might expect. It's a student area, home to Venice's Ca 'Foscari University, and has Opinions more late-night drinking bars than the rest of Venice. The general vibe is artistic, youthful and relaxed.
The district's hub is Campo Santa Margherita, a long field fulfils Which just about every function of a public square: in the daytime you'll find a market, children playing, antique stalls, locals walking dogs, a supermarket and cafes. In the evening this Becomes Venice's liveliest nightspot - Although That is not saying a lot in this city tame. Still, the bars are open until midnight or later, and throngs of young people gather here to sip the occasional drink and to catch up with friends.
In Dorsoduro you can find the most important museums and art galleries of the city such as Accademia galleries, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Punta della Dogana (modern art galleries situated in a wonderful location recently restored by Tadao Ando) and Ca 'Rezzonico museum (a museum of the 18th Century in a beautiful Venetian palace on the Grand Canal).
Anche There are many important churches, as the church of Health (very important for Venetians for the Madonna della Salute feast on 21st November), San Sebastian (almost Entirely decorated by Paolo Veronese, who is buried here anche) and the Church of the Carmini (large church with paintings by Lorenzo Lotto and Cima da Conegliano. The adjacent school has a ceiling by Giambattista Tiepolo).
Just a 5 minutes walk and you will reach anche the Frari with Titian's and Bellini's painting.
One of the most characteristic place in Dorsoduro and in the whole Venice is the Squero of San Trovaso (a small boatyard for making gondolas).
The eastern end of the rafts (a long promenade That the faces of Giudecca Canal and Giudecca island), along by Venice's old salt storehouses, can be empty and atmospheric. The western section, where you'll find bars and a kiosk selling drinks, is where locals go to bask in the spring sunshine.
If there are Biennale shows hosted there, or by special appointment, try to visit the glamorous Palazzo Zenobio on Fondamenta del Soccorso, with its Baroque ballroom and grand garden pavilion. It's now an Armenian institute, and offers cheap hostel-type accommodation (see our links panel).
About eating and drinking, Dorsoduro has the usual tourist restaurants, but anche plenty of cheap places for the students and resident people.
