New! Artist's Vineyard Cottage Retreat

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Amazing location and breathtaking views! Nestled in the coastal foothills just off California Scenic Hwy 46 West - exactly halfway between the quaint artist village of Cambria (10 min) and gateway to the spectacular Paso Robles/Templeton wine region (just outside your door).

Newly remodeled cottage from the ground up. Enjoy top of the line furnishings, amenities and touches that one would expect from a nationally renowned artist. The large master bedroom is a Southeast Asian retreat with unique pieces from Nepal and Thailand. The queen bedroom takes you back to early California. The kitchen is fully stocked and has granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Relax with a cool beverage on the patio overlooking the vast farming valley below or tuck yourselves back in the shade of the oaks and bay trees off the rear patio. 100% privacy enables you to enjoy the massage table, read or watch the red tail hawks soar peacefully above. BBQ in your own "park" complete with picnic table and shade trees.

Perched atop the Stromsoe Vineyard, a producing 5 acre vineyard of Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio, you'll enjoy a country retreat setting. It's only 2 minutes to the first wine tasting opportunity on the "west side" in the York Mountain AVA. Our location is generally 15 degrees cooler than downtown Paso in the summer. You can visit dozens and dozens of fine wineries within a 10 mile radius. Be sure to take a sunset stroll on one of our uncrowded, pristine beaches less than 15 minutes from your door!

Close proximity to downtown Paso, its wonderful restaurants and wine events - this location has it all! Please note: for the comfort of the majority of our guests this is a NON-SMOKING property.

About Lisa and Randy Stromsoe

We moved from Los Angeles to the charming village of Cambria in 1979. We raised our daughter and son in Cambria until we found this slice of paradise on 25 acres just 13 minutes inland from the coast. We've enjoyed a large organic garden every year and we are currently looking forward to our 5th harvest of Pinor Noir and Pinot Grigio wine grapes from our 5 acre vineyard.

We are artists by trade and find this location to be peaceful and inspiring.

Lisa and Randy Stromsoe purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Lisa and Randy Stromsoe chose Templeton

Two years ago we decided to remodel an existing cottage perched on the hill above our vineyard. The views are spectacular. We began offering the vineyard cottage as a nightly vacation rental in April of 2008. We've had many return guests ... everyone loves it! When we don't have rental guests, my husband and I like to lay on the grass and look up at the millions of stars.

What makes this cottage unique

After a day of wine tasting and the warm ... sometimes TOO warm weather of Paso Robles, guests love to return to the cottage which is only minutes from the tasting rooms yet up to 15 degrees cooler. We enjoy the coastal influence on many hot summer days. We love to pack a sweatshirt and head to San Simeon Cove or Cayucos for a beach walk at low tide ... no crowds. The counties BEST restaurants are 15 minutes in any direction from the cottage! Paso Robles, Templeton, Cambria and Cayucos.

Breathtakingly Beautful

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at the Artist's Vineyard Cottage. When the sun rose and dazzled on the surrounding hills we sat in the porch chairs and drank it all in along with our morning coffee. Such an exquisite and comfortable place for our Holiday getaway. We cooked in and even barbecued one night (the holiday brought 80 degree weather to Paso Robles this year!) enjoying the slience of our surroundings. We had lovely visits from the quail in the morning and views of soaring hawks over the valley. Star gazing in the evening was a highlight - you cannot see stars like that near the city.

Lisa and Randy, you have provided a perfectly appointed retreat for those in need of a respite that makes you feel like you're truly on holiday. We hope to visit again... soon!

Owner's Response: Hey Matt - We hope you and yours had a blast in Paso. SOOOO much beer, right? Come stay again. You can see Randy's amazing studio where he makes Sterling Silver and Pewter pilsners, tankards and any kind of drinking, eating and celebrating vessels for Kings and Popes and regular people like us. Thank you for leaving your bottles of treats for us. We took them camping. Cheers!

Every detail of this cottage is creative, cozy, comfortable and invites rest and rejuvenation!

  • 5 of 5

Lisa and Randy have created a perfect place to home base for exploring wineries, central coast trails, Paso Robles, Cambria, and surrounding gems! The attention to detail is remarkable -hand crafted dishes, fresh flowers and plants, bird feeders filled, kitchen ready for anything, and the king bed invites one to dream sweetly-so comfortable! The stars put on a show at night and the bird song delight as you breathe the fresh, wild , coastal mountain air surrounded by forest and vineyard . If I was to create a VRBO I would come here and take notes!

Definitely a 5 star rating!! Lovely hilltop cottage with magnificent views, and nicely furnished!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed champagne around the fire pit, took full use of the immaculate kitchen, and even did a load of laundry in the washer and dryer provided.

Lisa and Randy were gracious, and helped with where to eat, what to visit, and where to go! Couldn’t have been more fun!

Peaceful and spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

Every window has a view! I loved the coastal oaks, the mountains, the vineyard and the fresh air. This home has everything you can need. We saw deer and wild turkeys even. I highly recommend this home because of its perfect location and because the owners have thought of every detail. There were interesting books to read, beautiful pottery dishes to use and two wonderful pellet heaters to stay cozy. They were incredibly helpful in planning my stay with my parents for their 60th anniversary. The only downside was that I eventually had to leave.
