About the property

Cabin, 5 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

This cabin has it all! Sitting on top of 2.8 acres, it is in a very private location with nothing but silence around you. Enjoy the long range mountain views from the screened in porch or the oversized deck.

On this mountain, there is also a fishing pond, beautiful waterfull, hiking, and an outdoor pavilion with BBQ grills.

Area attractions include: Scott Kerr Dam Lake - 8 miles away, skiing in Boone - 20 minutes away and Merlefest and Applefest in Wilkesboro, only 8 miles away! Tweetsie Railroad is approximately 35 miles away from this cabin and if you want to get to the Blue Ridge Parkway, you'll only have to drive 7 miles north on 421 to hop on! Some of our favorite restaurants are in West Jefferson which is only 15 miles from the cabin. And don't forget the local Vineyards! There are 5 beautiful vineyards off of 421 including our favorite, Ralfadini.

Don't worry about steep curvy roads! This cabin is very easy to get to, driving only 8 miles west of Wilkesboro NC or 15 miles east of Boone NC off of Hwy 421. For those coming from Charlotte, our cabin is only an hour and a half away.

Ruffinit cabin is really not ruffing it! It is extremely comfortable with all the amenities from home including broadband internet. The cabin inside is constructed in beautiful tongue and groove yellow pine and has been furnished and equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. The pottery, pictures and knickknacks all go together to give you a very 'homey' feeling. You will love this cabin!

About Richard

My wife and I live outside of Charlotte, NC. We have been married 10 years. I work in the financial world and my wife is a nurse. We hope that you find Ruffinit a warm and restful place for you and your family.

Why Richard chose Purlear

We love the mountains! Buck Mountain was perfect for three simple reasons: View, privacy, and proximity to West Jefferson and Boone.

What makes this cabin unique

We love sitting in the screened in porch and drinking coffee. Buck Mountain is also a great place to hike. I usually go for long runs down to the waterfall and pond on the mountain. We are always grilling on the deck or finding a new restaurant to try in one of the many surrounding cities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sorry it took me so long............we hope to rent again!! All the girls absolutely loved it and still talking about the R&R!!

Enjoyed it very much

I was not happy with the ceiling in the bunk bedroom and the ceiling in the basement washroom, as it was exposed and unfinished. Also the space under the basement stairs was exposed and unfinished.

Quiet location, not far off the beaten path, close to Boone and North WIlkesboro. Home was clean and had good communication with the home owner. Definitely an enjoyable time and we would stay again!

Wonderful clean cabin with a peaceful view. Drive is a little steep up but no snow for us so no worries. Instructions were very clear to check in and out. Wish we could have stayed longer. Kids really enjoyed the bunk beds and there were more than expected! This cabin can comfortably sleep many!

Mother Nature allowed us to enjoy “Ruffin it” cabin as we had bad weather and lost power, wow it’s dark up there! Highly recommend taking a couple of flashlights with you just in case!

I would recommend it to those looking to quickly access the blue ridge and wilksboro!

Incredible getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was everything we needed for our family over the weekend! It was spacious enough to where we did not feel cramped and everyone had room to relax and enjoy ourselves. The screened porch, deck, and downstairs patio with a swing gave us so many options to enjoy the beautiful views and fresh air. The smoky mountain morning views were breathtaking. The cabin had everything we needed to cook our food from the farmers market in Boone, and again, the views made each meal that much more enjoyable. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin and felt right at home. We are already planning our next visit to Ruffinit! Can't wait!
