About the property

Cabin, 5 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

This cabin has it all! Sitting on top of 2.8 acres, it is in a very private location with nothing but silence around you. Enjoy the long range mountain views from the screened in porch or the oversized deck.

On this mountain, there is also a fishing pond, beautiful waterfull, hiking, and an outdoor pavilion with BBQ grills.

Area attractions include: Scott Kerr Dam Lake - 8 miles away, skiing in Boone - 20 minutes away and Merlefest and Applefest in Wilkesboro, only 8 miles away! Tweetsie Railroad is approximately 35 miles away from this cabin and if you want to get to the Blue Ridge Parkway, you'll only have to drive 7 miles north on 421 to hop on! Some of our favorite restaurants are in West Jefferson which is only 15 miles from the cabin. And don't forget the local Vineyards! There are 5 beautiful vineyards off of 421 including our favorite, Ralfadini.

Don't worry about steep curvy roads! This cabin is very easy to get to, driving only 8 miles west of Wilkesboro NC or 15 miles east of Boone NC off of Hwy 421. For those coming from Charlotte, our cabin is only an hour and a half away.

Ruffinit cabin is really not ruffing it! It is extremely comfortable with all the amenities from home including broadband internet. The cabin inside is constructed in beautiful tongue and groove yellow pine and has been furnished and equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. The pottery, pictures and knickknacks all go together to give you a very 'homey' feeling. You will love this cabin!

About The Owner

My wife and I live outside of Charlotte, NC. We have been married 4 years. I work in the financial world and my wife is a nurse. We hope that you find Ruffinit a warm and restful place for you and your family.

Why The Owner chose Blue Ridge Mountains

We love the mountains! Buck Mountain was perfect for three simple reasons: View, privacy, and proximity to West Jefferson and Boone.

What makes this cabin unique

We love sitting in the screened in porch and drinking coffee. Buck Mountain is also a great place to hike. I usually go for long runs down to the waterfall and pond on the mountain. We are always grilling on the deck or finding a new restaurant to try in one of the many surrounding cities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sorry it took me so long............we hope to rent again!! All the girls absolutely loved it and still talking about the R&R!!

Incredible getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was everything we needed for our family over the weekend! It was spacious enough to where we did not feel cramped and everyone had room to relax and enjoy ourselves. The screened porch, deck, and downstairs patio with a swing gave us so many options to enjoy the beautiful views and fresh air. The smoky mountain morning views were breathtaking. The cabin had everything we needed to cook our food from the farmers market in Boone, and again, the views made each meal that much more enjoyable. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin and felt right at home. We are already planning our next visit to Ruffinit! Can't wait!

Beautiful, comfortable cabin! Beautiful landscape!

  • 5 of 5

We really, really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It has lots of room and is well equipped. We loved the gorgeous view from the deck. Really, the only negatives were that the wifi was really slow, and the upstairs TV does not have any signal (apparently a former renter stole the HDMI cable). We would like to mention to the owner that there were a few light bulbs out that need to be replaced and that the cleaning person may be a little slack. (There were dirty towels in the washer when we got there, and it looked like he/she doesn't look under the beds).

Owner's Response: We're glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your rental! The issues you mentioned have all been addressed and resolved! We had a technician fix the TV problem - apparently the HDMI port on the cable box was inoperative - it's fine now! Glad you were able to use the downstairs TV. Hope you all can come back soon to our lovely Ruffinit Chalet!

A Memorable Memorial Day Weekend in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our mini-family reunion at Ruffin' It Cabin. The well-appointed cabin was spacious, clean, light, and airy. The back view was spectacular at any time of the day, and cameras clicked to digitize the mountain view. From breakfasting on the screened-in porch first thing in the morning, to stargazing on the open deck at midnight, and a sing-along to I-phone tunes (with a wireless "jabber" for sound amplification produced a rousing chorus of "Don't Stop Believin'"), our family had a joyous reunion and loads of fun and laughter at the cabin. We will remember it always. Ann Parker

Peace, quiet, and views for days!

  • 5 of 5

When you first pull in and park at the mailbox, the stairs leading down to the house are a bit daunting, but once you open the red front door, you realize you are in paradise! The interior of the home is much like a luxury log cabin, including beautiful hardwood floors and walls, but the first thing to catch your eye is the amazing view, which is just breathtaking! On the main floor, you will find two decent-sized carpeted bedrooms (one with a gorgeous view of the mountains), a nice full bath, a living room, and the well-appointed kitchen. The sensational and very private screened-in porch and deck are also on the main level. Upstairs you will find a loft with a bedroom, full bath, and sitting area where there is a stash of games for the kiddos. Downstairs is another large living area with a pool table, two more bedrooms (including the bunk room), a half bath, and the washer/dryer. From the back door, there are several trails to explore. The home is decorated beautifully with unique pieces of pottery and exquisite hand-crafted tables. The owner was also great to work with! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!
