Catarina was very accomodating. The house was clean and large and located ideally just a 3 minute drive to the waterfront of Ponta Delgada. I would highly recommend this property.
House was very well situated location was great.
House was great it accommodate all our needs
Great location with room for a large group
A great place for a big family , such as ours. 7 of us stood here 6/29-7/6 and it was perfect for us. Located about 8 minutes drive from downtown Ponta Delgada or 30 minutes walking. There is a natural swimming spot nearby but the beach , Praia de Milícias was amazing. Nice sand and incredible waves for body surfing only a 15 minute walk to the east down the street or drive and be on the sand in 5 minutes. The location is within 45 minutes driving to Furnas or Mosteiros. Fantastic location.
The house is 3 floors and is set on a busy street. Backyard for lounging, star gazing, and barbecue. First floor is kitchen and a full bathroom. 2nd floor has a full bath and two bedrooms plus living room. 3rd floor has two additional bedrooms. Lots of stairs but very manageable. We had a toddler and two seniors and it wasn’t an issue. The only drawback was parking but it’s very easy, as overnight parking is just around the corner at the beach lots (3 min walking). Another issue was barking dogs out back at various times but there isn’t anything you can do about your neighbors so it wasn’t an issue. The Restaurant Cais 20 across the street was open when we arrived at 1:30 am and has incredible seafood and great beef, highly recommended.
This house really was perfect for us but may not be for everyone due to the stairs and parking. No air conditioning either but plenty of fans and open air with the ocean breeze.
Muito Obrigado Catarina for an amazing stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Probably better for a younger group
I chose this property because I was looking for a place in Ponta Delgada. Having never been to the area, we stayed for several days in Sete Cidades where you need a car. I thought we'd stay in the town of PD for a few days and we wouldn't need a car. This property, with it's amazing views of the ocean, was about 15 min. to town by car......that's not far, but again, we weren't prepared to be driving around PD.
What the property does not say is that the house is 3 floors with the main bedroom being on the top floor. The bathroom is on the first floor and the second floor. Had I known the house was 3 floors I never would have rented it. They are hard concrete steps. Unfortunately, within the first few hours of going up and down the steps, my husbands sciatica kicked in. The harder beds did not help. He became sick and had to spend the night on the second floor nearer to the bathroom in a bedroom with an even harder mattress. Although we reserved the home for 4 nights, we had to forgo the money we paid to stay here and we moved to a hotel in PD, which had a decent bed and air conditioning.
I am not trying to complain for the sake of complaining. I also realize we are from the US and often bring those US sensibilities with us when traveling. It's probably impossible not to. We are also close to 60 years of age, and while we are both fairly healthy.....I would not have taken a home knowing it had 3 floors. So, my point in reviewing the property from this perspective is merely to help others who, like me, may have fallen in love with the photos of this home and might have believed it was closer to PD than one would have thought.
Catherine Sousa was lovely and always responsive to my questions. The views from this property are outstanding. But, 3 floors, no AC, humid house, dog baking in the back all night long because it is in an outside dog pen from the neighbors next door, certainly detracted from our personal stay. I do think it is a fine house for a bigger, younger family. Also, the restaurant across the street has a magnificent grilled prawn.
Thank you very much for your comment. I do not agree with you when it says it takes 15 minutes by car to get to the city center, the truth is that it takes much less time. Of this I am sure. The house does not have air conditioning, but there are fans. I advise you, next time, to see the characteristics of the house. I will and will always do my best to provide a comfortable stay. Thank you so much, Catarina
house close to natural bath
It was ok, two stories high house. A bit warm in summertime. The house is next to a road with a lot of traffic and noise. Luckily there is a garage for the car. The host Catarina is very nice.
Ideal for those who like to be on the verge sea, at the same time very close to the center of Ponta Delgada.
