Camaiore is a small town in Northern Tuscany at the foot of the Alpi Apuane mountain range, from where the renown marble is extracted. The town is about 6 km from the Versilia coastline, the nearest resort being Lido di Camaiore. Viareggio to the East and Forte dei Marmi to the West are little more than 10 km away. Crossing the Alpi Apuane (which takes about an hour), allows you to get to the Garfagnana and the Lunigiana, two very little known and virtually unspoiled valleys of stunning beauty where it’s possible to experience Italy as it once was.
Versilia is a part of the north-western Tuscany within the Lucca province, a territory that slopes from the mountains of the Apuan Alps up to the sandy shoreline, one of the most famous and cherished in Italy and in Europe.
Versilia is characterized by the ancient buildings in liberty style just steps from the beachesand the waste pine forests where over time have found a place riding, bike trails, tennis courts, activities to be carried out in tranquility, relaxation and well-being.
You can enjoy cycling (to rent wherever you are, whatever your needs) around in the many bike paths and within Versiliana Park that stretches for almost one million square feet.
The coast has a touristic vocation with a lively mundane activity. Here, in fact there are many nightclubs and memorable discos that overlook the sea.
The beach of Versilia has always been renowned throughout Europe for the wide open spaces offering with fine golden sand, and areas for long relaxing walks along the coast.
Here you will find a pleasant climate, bathing establishments equipped with the maximum comfort, luxury boutiques ideal for purchases and numerous weekly markets antique and craft.
Versilia, as well as offering its own scenic beauty of all features, may propose other alternatives to the sea or the mountain.
Pietrasanta, Marina di Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi, Seravezza, Stazzema, Camaiore, Lido di Camaiore, Massarosa, Viareggio e Torre del Lago Puccini are great places to spend a holiday.
Pietrasanta is an international center for the processing of marble and bronze, a mixture of sculptors from all over the world. Thanks to an old town full of monuments and well cared for, the country has become a true city of art, with numerous galleries and exhibits large seasonal Piazza del Duomo and the Church of St. Augustine.
Some sculptures by Fernando Botero (in 1983 he took home here to be close to the marble quarries), Igor Mitoraj, Pietro Cascella, Kan Yasuda adorn the squares and streets of the city.
Do not miss a visit to Torre del Lago with its sunny shores, the cool pine forests, the calm lake and the house of Giacomo Puccini.
