Explore Florence's charming Oltrarno neighborhood. This area abounds with excellent restaurants, cafes and small artisan workrooms. Piazza di Santo Spirito is also nearby which offers many good restaurants and several fresh produce stalls in the mornings.

The apartment is clean and well maintained.

Located off of Via di Santo Spirito the Olivia apartment is in a terrific location in the historic center on the Oltrarno side of the river. So convenient to the sites, the highlights of Florence are all within walking distance.

The apartment is in a 15th century apartment building on a narrow street lined with other historic apartment buildings, artisan workshops, restaurants, small shops.

The apartment is on the 4th floor (5th North American designation) with no elevator. A great way to balance the wonderful food and wine of Florence.

This is a two-level apartment with the living room, kitchen and one bathroom below and the bedroom and a second full bathroom upstairs. The open kitchen which is just through the front door is fully equipped. An handsome expandable antique dining table has seating for four. Tasteful antiques, excellent maintenance and thoughtful touches make this a comfortable, homey apartment. The location is terrific.

The living room is quite spacious with attractive original wood beams on the high ceiling. Two large living room windows admit plenty of light, a nice feature of the apartment because it is high up in the building. The sofa is comfortable and opens to sofa bed that can accommodate two people. An ottoman in the living room converts to a single bed as well.

Next to the charming antique writing desk is the downstairs bathroom. The bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, are nice in the apartment with attractive tiles and fully enclosed showers. The fact that there are two bathrooms makes the living room sofa bed arrangement particularly convenient for guests. The living room TV has satellite so receives some English language news channels.

The bedroom is on the second level, reached by 14 steps up. It is a cozy, pleasant space with skylight, good storage space behind an attractive curtain under the eaves. There are good reading lamps on the night stands on either side of the bed. The bed can be made up as one large bed or two singles. Off the bedroom is a full bathroom with enclosed shower and a separate laundry room.

Guests receive complimentary and helpful documents: 1. FAQ About Renting in Italy, 2. Helpful Information About Florence with our much-appreciated Restaurant list. On request, complimentary children's adventure guide to Italy e-Book.

About The Owner

This apartment is offered by Italy Perfect. We are a family business with a mission! We want you to love visiting Italy as much as we do. We are sisters Lisa and Pat Byrne who lived in Italy in our youth and now travel there frequently for business and pleasure.

We offer only short term rentals that we carefully hand pick for their locations, furnishings, amenities, and that we can personally recommend and would want to stay in ourselves. We travel frequently to inspect, and usually stay in, the rentals we represent. We select vacation rentals that offer charm, good locations, cleanliness, quality furnishings and hospitable welcomes. We count the number of steps up to the property, check the size of the refrigerator, shower, listen for noise, inventory the kitchen equipment and even inspect the mattresses. This is our most important point of differentiation which sets us apart from many other vacation rental firms. Even with careful advance research and personal connections, we still choose to not represent more than 50% of the properties we visit. And, once we agree to represent a property we regularly re-inspect it to ensure our standards are being met.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is the third time in the last four years that we have spent one month in Florence in this lovely Olivia apartment. This time our flight into Florence was diverted to Milan and we were 8 hours late getting to the Florence airport. Contacting our greeter became a problem due to cell phone difficulties and we were unable to reach her until hours after we were due. Veronica was most gracious and said she would meet us no matter when we got in, which was 10:30 at night! She went above and beyond and we were very relieved that she was able to meet us. Although our delay and late arrival were stressful, within minutes of our entry into the apartment, we began to relax and felt at home once again. The Olivia is very well appointed, very inviting, and impeccably clean. Angela, our landlord, anticipated our every need and left us a generous basket of wine, coffee, and numerous other goodies to welcome us and to begin our stay. The apartment is in an ideal location--close to the city center, yet far away enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle when we return after a day of sightseeing. It is a 5 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio and no more than a 30 minute walk to the farthest tourist site. When we were not touring, we very much enjoyed spending time in this lovely place, reading and relaxing in the evenings, while drinking Chianti, of course, and admiring the decor. One of our favorite amenities was the second full bath, which enabled us to each have our own space and take showers at the same time--a real bonus!

Spending a month in Florence is truly a luxury and, even after seeing most of the sites for a third time in four years, we may just have to return and do it all again.

When we do, where will we stay? No question--the Olivia Apartment, which has become our home away from home and a piece of paradise.

Thanks. once again, to Pat of Italy Perfect, who is always fun to talk to, and never tires of answering our questions and concerns. Thanks also to Angela, our landlord, a gracious and lovely woman who has created a welcoming and beautiful place to stay.

I would recommend this apartment and Italy Perfect without question. We were thrilled once again. What more can we say?!!!

Lovely area to call home base

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 5 nights in September. This is quite a lovely apartment with some amenities not always found. There is air conditioning throughout, a washing machine that also dries (oh you clever Italians), bathrooms in both the loft and main floor and satellite TV (for English speaking channels). The bed and furniture are very comfortable and we felt quite at home here.

The host left lovely treats and wine for us, and the greeter even helped carry our luggage up the 65 stairs to get to the apartment. The flights of stairs may be a deterrent to some as they can be quite a hassle for coming and going with any frequency.

The apartment is on the quieter side of the Arno river and just a few "blocks" from the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens which was a huge plus for me because they are my favorite places to visit here in Florence. There are also very nice restaurants tucked away nearby. Almost everything in Florence is walkable but don't miss the remodeled Mercato Centrale early in your visit so you can stock up on fantastic food items. There is also a terrific food court on the upstairs floor!

A quiet respite in Florence

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location of Olivia apartment! It was just enough out of the congestion of the touristy area of the city to provide a pleasant break at night. We enjoyed exploring the Oltrarno quarter. We attended Mass in the basilica a short walk away and had the bonus to see a crucifix carved by Michelangelo at age 17. We also observed the art of carved block print at a small gallery on our street. The apartment was small, but four of us were quite comfortable for our stay. Our greeter provided a wealth of information that we used throughout our stay. I even learned how to make "Italian" coffee! My advice to those staying like a local. Pack light the stairs are challenging with heavy luggage, but that does not stop me from recommending this as a wonderful spot to stay in Florence. Perhaps our favorite discovery was a family run restaurant about a 20 minute walk from the apartment. It was called Trattoria Pandehohio. We would recommend it highly. Thank you for a lovely stay in your apartment.

A lovely apartment in a wonderful part of Florence

  • 5 of 5

The apartment exuded old-world charm. There were large windows with delightful views of the street and they also gave the place an airy feeling and filled it with light. The sleeping loft was quite comfortable with plenty of closet space and a bathroom off of the bedroom and a skylight above the bed. The living area had everything we needed--a lovely sitting room, a well-equipped kitchen, a library with useful guides and maps, and another bathroom.

The apartment is in a wonderful, lively part of Florence, on the same street as some of the best restaurants in town--like Il Santo Bevitore, Olio and Convivium, and Cammilo. It is also very close to 4 Leones and Magazine. There is a supermarket just down the block and cafes everywhere. Even more important, it is a stone's throw from the Pitti Palace and also very close to the Brancacci Chapel. It takes only a few minutes to cross the bridge and then all the major museums and churches are a few minutes' walk.

All in all, a great place to stay!

Cozy Apartment

  • 5 of 5

Our apartment was 5 flights up with no elevator as mentioned, but only 66 steps so it was okay and we got use to the climb!

There is a small grocery nearby and that is good. We shopped near the Duomo at Etaly too!

I can say for 2 adults it was good but for more it would be crowded with someone on the sofa and dealing with the luggage.

The location was good on the other side of the Arno and we can recommend the restaurant on the corner, il Santo Bevitore! You will see a crowd there every night waiting to get in. We made reservations in advance and it was great!

Some of our other favorite restaurants in Florence that are in walking distance are:

La Bruchetta

Don't miss the newly opened Duomo Museum!

This is the 2nd time we've used Italy Perfect and we will again!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My son and I had a great stay at the Olivia apartment. I was concerned about the stairs, but they were not an issue at all, I enjoyed the exercise after all the wonderful food. The area is perfect, very safe and close to all the sites. The a/c, washing machine, coffee maker, comfy beds all made for a perfect stay after long days of sightseeing. The best part was the neighborhood, fabulous restaurants, great gelato and shopping, and just far enough away from all the crowds, yet a great neighborhood feel. I was happy with our choice and would stay there again. Thank you to Lisa and the Italy Perfect team for answering all my questions and help, you were fantastic to work with!
