TESTIMONIALS: We had a wonderful time this weekend. It felt like a home away from home. The location was great for us as we skied and snow boarded at Ascutney. The general store was great...MMMMM... Connor had a great 12th birthday and we had a great weekend. Thanks again.' -- The B. Family, CT.
'We had an absolutely wonderful time. The house was so cute and cozy. It was convenient to so many things which we missed the last time we came and stayed at the Ascutney Mountain resort. We got a lot of snow while we were there which made for great ski conditions. We also got in some sight seeing. Woodstock is a great little town... We look forward to making another trip to Vermont in the near future.'--Tara Z. & family, NJ.

About James Reynolds
Landscape-painter, hiker, Dad, dog-owner and nature-lover.
James Reynolds purchased this House in 2003
Why James Reynolds chose Cavendish
We love Vermont - especially this area. It is scenic, adventurous and filled with amenities all while maintaining the Green Mountain aesthetic. World-class skiing and an rich artistic history abound just outside this small village. This beautiful landscape has been painted by Metcalf, Hibbard, Saint-Gaudens, photographed by most major magazines, and been the site for several Hollywood movies. We can walk to the store and still hear the river from our porch. We can spend the day hiking a mountain and the evening in some of the best restaurants in the country.
What makes this House unique
Walk to river and conveniences of in-town while still surrounded by quiet beauty. Minutes from world-class skiiing and restaurants, but intelligently just off the beaten-track. "Two paths converged in the wood and I, I took the one less travelled by. And it has made all the difference." Frost

Delightful home in truly beautiful surroundings.
Our family enjoyed three peaceful nights at this wonderful old house. This was our first visit to the area and we absolutely loved it. The house is full of character. The beds are comfortable and we very much enjoyed relaxing in the living room with the wood stove keeping us warm. We hope to return.
Great old farmhouse! Comfortable and convenient!
Comfortable, clean and convenient. Loved the big kitchen with a store just a stones throw away. We'll definitely be back!
Thank you Zoe! We love the convenience of the General Store and also the Reading Greenhouse, which now carries wine and provisions! We're so happy you had a great visit and we look forward to hosting you again!
Comfortable farm house, convenient location
We had a wonderful time during our stay! The house was comftable and spacious. We enjoyed the large kitchen while at the house. We also ventured out from the convenient location. My daughter went each day to GMHA for camp and we had fun mountain biking at Killington and touring around the area! Thanks James and family for sharing your wonderful home with us!
Thank you Boyd Family! We are so pleased you had a great time, and we're very happy to have had another wonderful GMHA family stay with us! We look forward to hosting you again!
We were very pleased with this house!
We had a great time here! The house was clean, it felt like home and the beds were comfy. Some of us came to ski - Okemo was only 20-25 minutes away, others to antique and explore. Overall it was a great experience. Thank you!
Thanks for your response Kylie - we aim to make our house a comfortable home away from home!
The highlight of this year so far!!
James was a fantastic host and his home was everything we could have hoped for and more!! His home is just as depicted in the pictures listed and in a great location just a short ride from Okemo and not far from Killington as well. The property was clean and well maintained and we were provided with cleaning supplies so that we could keep it tidy. James was there for any and every question we had and was very quick to respond to all of our inquiries. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to spend a few days out in beautiful Vermont. And to any new visitors I would highly recommend visiting Harpoon Brewery; it's a short drive and they have tasty food and great beer. Thank you again so much to James and his wife for allowing us to stay in their home, we can't wait to come back again next year!!
Thanks again Christian! It was a pleasure to have your group. We really appreciated the extra touches you left us with!
Next time you'll have to che4ck-out Long Trail as well!
We had a great time ringing in the New Year!
Great location and house. All the rooms were very clean and comfortable. House was very warm and had plenty of amenities. We visited Woodstock, Long Trail Brewing, and hiked Mt. Ascutney. We definitely hope to come again! Owners were very friendly.
