Welcome to Castlepark. Castlepark is uniquely positioned in Kinsale, the development itself has won many awards & was most recently referenced in Journal Of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (May 2007).
Our house is unique in that it is the largest house, positioned in the middle of Castlepark village, spread over 3 floors & comprises of a very large open plan Lounge/Dining Room, Kitchen, wide hallways & 4 large bedrooms with 4 matching bathrooms. Unique features include vaulted ceilings with exposed timbers & plenty of natural light. Our house can accommodate large or extended families with sleeping for up to 10 people comfortably. We have just completed a full ‘makeover’ of the house, we know you will enjoy your stay here, relaxation, peaceful yet in the middle of everything.
From the hallway you get a first glimpse of what is too follow, free flowing of space into the open plan lounge/dining area, old style yet contemporary but above all relaxing & ready to enjoy. The open plan lounge area is very spacious & bright, the new velux sky light windows allow in the morning light, the beams are painted cream in colour & rise 45° to double height. The new oak floor, cream panelling –the lanterns & leather couches even the wall mounted plasma screen TV/DVD they allow for a relaxing atmosphere. Wifi included;
The accompanying dining area comprises of a large pine table & 8 carved chairs with views out via the south facing full height window allowing maximum light to flood the room. Also on this floor there is a full bathroom with shower & easy access to the fully equipped kitchen. The full size antique pine kitchen is well equipped with a Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, Hob, Oven, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer & all general kitchen equipment. There is also a table & 4 chairs for extra visitors.
The first bedroom on the lower floor is a large double room, with pitch pine furniture, maple floor & a large three piece ensuite. All bed lined is the same design & blue in colour, keeping the nautical theme throughout. The second bedroom on the lower floor is extra large in size, with a large double bed & a single bed, with all antique pine furniture & maple flooring.
Each of the two lower bedrooms are ensuite with quality fittings. There is also a spare pullout bed & a baby travel cot both stored under the stair case just in case there is a need for an extra visitor/toddler.
The second staircase rises upwards, lit be a new velux sky light window & cushioned with new woollen carpets, & as with all the house, freshly painted. Also on the upper floor is a large hot press for extra storage.
Both the upper floor bedrooms have the exposed beams, natural in colour giving a good contrast to the cream colours below. Our House, the ideal location: GPS(51°41’50N)(8°30’50W)
Our house is indeed a unique beachfront home, on a peninsula overlooking Kinsale itself, surrounded by heritage & the sea. We have direct access to a very safe, sandy beach, you stroll across the gravel courtyard & private lawns & step quietly onto the soft sand.
On the other side of the peninsula from the beach is a great yacht marina Castlepark Marina, with numerous yachts & boats available for charter, short term holiday moorings can also be arranged. Also on the doorstep is the famous traditional pub, The Dock for a quiet pint. Directly across the water is historic Charles Fort, behind the house is the equally famous James Fort, both guarding Kinsale harbour. Up behind the house is a very beautiful, heritage protected headland with very scenic walks, providing panoramic views of both the inner & outer harbour, our beach, Charles Fort, Kinsale town & the Bandon River.
Castlepark has it all yet you are still only minutes from the gourmet capitol itself-Kinsale. A real Gem to escape too!

Living near the sea is so relaxing with loads to do - Sailing, canoeing, fishing, walking, biking, restaurants, catching up with old friends .....relaxing and having a good time.
Total switch off from the day to day activities - we all really relax in Castlepark
Thanks for organising the mooring on the marina - it really made our holiday having the boat with us - we had great time exploring and sailing - great house and loved the beach - thanks from the Cunningham family , Dublin
Had a fantastic two week stay at this property. Location is ideal for both exploring the local town and getting away from it all. Beach is a minute's walk away as is the wonderful James Fort. The convenient local pub is a great bonus. The property itself is well appointed - bedrooms all a good size with ample bathrooms. Open plan sitting area is light and comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Declan is a great host and ensured we had everything we needed on arrival. The Castlepark complex itself is ideal for families with young children as they have lots of space to roam around safely. We thorougly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again.
This property really is footsteps away from the beach, great hiking, the local pub, and great views but is also incredibly private and quiet thanks to the layout of Castlepark. All three generations of our family felt at home in the property, there is plenty of space, a convenient floor plan, and internet access in the house worked well so everyone can stay connected if they really feel the need. There is quite a variety of cafes and restaurants in Kinsale, Declan will point you in the right direction based upon your taste, but being able to prepare breakfast in the well stocked kitchen was a bonus. Whether you want to relax in the local area or explore the southern counties, from Kerry to Waterford. this location is amazing - and it is easily reached from Cork airport. Declan is a gracious host and he provided ample information prior to our stay and was available for any last minute details and tips during our stay.
* ladies , all 60 + stayed at Castlepark for a week and highly recommend it. Declan was very helpful helping us plan out trip long distance for months before we left. Castle park is clean and safe and wonderfully quiet and beaitiful.
The house was spacious enough for all 8 of us to feel comfortable. Everyting you need is there. We went to Kinsale almost daily. Most of us enjoyed the walk to and from town. Some of us took a cab one or both ways but if you are in good health the walk is perfect. There is plenty to do in town and it was easy to get to Old Head Golf Course, Blarney, Cobh and other lovley places around the coast.
This home in Kinsale met all my expectations, and believe me they were high. Declan and his family are nothing but kind, helpful, and considerate. The home is beautifully maintained, roomy, and comfortable. We had a large group of adults and children and never felt cramped. The location is exceptional. Somedays we walked into Kinsale and enjoyed the town with all its shops, friendly people, and great restaurants. Other days we we took long walks on all the trails around this home or just enjoyed the beach and sites nearby. Kinsale is also a great stepping off point to tour around. We did a lot of touring and I can honestly say there was not one location I saw on my travels that I would have preferred to stay.
My family took this trip to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary and we could not have chosen a better spot.
We highly recommend Castlepark to anyone who wants a home away from home. It is very clean, casual, and lots of space to spread out if you have several couples, as we did. We enjoyed the kitchen for breakfast, the laundry facilities, and the large living room. The listing description and photos were all as advertised. Declan was very good about answering our questions, and getting a good deal for golf :-). All the restaurants were great, Jim Edwards is our recommendation, and Dalton's pub for traditional Irish music on Mondays and Tuesdays. Don't come late or you won't find any space!
We would definitely refer our friends to Castlepark. Only one small downside is there is no internet connection or telephone, so we needed to go into town to connect with the world. Upside of that, it is really cheap to buy a local phone, which we did. Thanks for a lovely stay Declan.
We stayed in Castlepark Kinsale the week of August 20th. There was nine of us which consists of 7 adults and 2 kids. The house was brilliant the layout of the house was exactly what we needed we were not living on top of each other because of the space. Having a beautiful beach that was just steps away from the doorstep was excellent, my kids just had so much fun there. I had a friend come and visit us with her 2 kids and her Mum they to did not want to leave they had so much fun. Also having the Dock bar to sit out on a sunny day was just lovely. There also was beautiful places to walk to like James Fort, it was so pretty.Kinsale also had such beautiful places to eat i highly recommend Maxs we went there 2 nights in a row. Overall it was a fantastic place to stay and we would diffently go back.
